  1. It would be, if I didn't have to drive all the way to Mason to watch it. Dixie/SK is 5 mins from my house. That's where I'm leaning. I think SK pride shows better in this game. Maybe not enough to win but enough to watch. Next up is Newport/NCC. Great public/private battle of small school football. No way I'm watching CC/Highlands. As much as I am a public school guy, can't watch Highlands pummel CovCath...again. Although I don't think Highlands romps to another title. In fact, wouldn't shock me if they lose at some point along the way. Not likely, but certainly possible. The "Mueller Mystique" is certainly gone. -CardinalsFan
  2. COLONELS, AND BLUEBIRDS, AND TIGERS, OH MY!!! What's a Buckeye like me to do? I don't want to watch a blowout. I don't care about history/rivalry. I want the best game. How far away is Lawrenceburg? Maybe I'll make the trek to support my adopted Jaguars! Who is it?? -CardinalsFan
  3. Congrats to Cooper on the first home win of their young playoff history. Good luck against Franklin county next week! Can anyone tell me where that game is being played? -CardinalsFan
  4. From the Cincy Enquirer: Cooper back and ready to do some damage -CardinalsFan
  5. Colerain is on the road traveling to the higher seed. To help logistics and for ease of finding fields, Ohio grants 1st round home games to the top 8 seeds in each of the two regions in Division 1. After that, it is all neutral fields through the state title game. Although in an ironic twist, when Colerain won their state title in 2004, they had to play Canton McKinley on their home field because that's where the Division 1 state title game was that year. I remember they offered Colerain their home locker room and the Cards declined. -CardinalsFan
  6. How old are you? 78? 98? I tried to send good vibes Cooper's way and you take it as a personal affront. You are one bitter old bird Hellbird! 😠 I merely meant that I fully expect the Jags of Cooper to win going away. Truly, that was my hope. Let me ask this. Will the be home next week WHEN they beat Wofford county? If so, I will be there to cheer them on. You got me all wrong Hellbird...you really do. -CardinalsFan
  7. GO COOPER!!! JAGS #1!!!! Best of luck to the Jags on getting their first home playoff win in school history! The journey to greatness begins with that 1st win at home. Make it happen Friday night. CardinalsFan will be watching!!* -CF * - By watching, I mean I will be at home preparing for my trip to Columbus on Saturday to watch my Cardinals in their first playoff game of the year. Maybe I can make it out to the Coop when you play a team with a winning record. :thumb:
  8. 77 replies 2,200+ views in a game that was a 30 point blowout You're welcome BGP. I live to serve. :thumb: -CardinalsFan
  9. What about the following do you not see as complimentary? :eyeonyou: :idunno: -CardinalsFan
  10. If you were addressing this to me, I will say that I was impressed by Dixie. They have several kids who are very good and will cause some real matchup problems for teams down the road. Where in my compliment-laden post on page one did you derive that I wasn't impressed with Dixie? They dominated in every aspect of the game. -CardinalsFan
  11. A well thought-out, coherent, informative post. Thank you for filling me in on Cooper's season thus far. Clearly, Dixie was significantly better than Cooper. The speed difference was palpable and that can't be fixed. You either have it or you don't. I did know that there was a class size difference between the two schools. But IMHO, that shouldn't matter to a school like Cooper. They are big enough and experienced enough as a program that they should NEVER get beaten like that...ever. Someone else mentioned that they looked like they quit. That is EXACTLY what they looked like. I am intrigued to watch Cooper once the playoffs start. Thanks again for the information. -CardinalsFan
  12. I live in Erlanger. I grew up in Colerain. Don't you talk to ME about the hood. I've seen things that would make your skin crawl. Child, please... I've never played one down of competitive football. That in no way, shape or form disqualifies me from offering my opinion on what I see based on the thousands of hours I have spent watching football at differing levels in different states. I never said they were "expert" opinions. You did. Nice to know you think so highly of my experience and analysis!  :thumb: -CardinalsFan
  13. Who I follow or root for has absolutely no relevance in this discussion. No, I have not seen Cooper play in their district. I don't know what relevance that has to the conversation either. Maybe you can explain to me how watching them play a district game vs. what I saw tonight would somehow change my opinion? I know what good football looks like and Cooper doesn't have a lot of it. My comments are my opinion. Last I checked, that was the point of this board: To post your thoughts and opinions on high school sports in Kentucky. Is that not exactly what I did? Maybe your issue is with idea of BGP and not me? Your reaction to my comments is typical of the Helicopter Mom mentality that has ruined so many football programs. I hope that is not the issue in Union but if so, it is no wonder to me why Cooper seems to have lost it's way a bit. I am not interested in going to a 1st round playoff game where Cooper's opponent is likely to have a losing record and will get beat by 3 TD's. Maybe I'll wait until they play a team with a winning record and THEN make the trip to The Coop to check them out again. -CardinalsFan
  14. Ahh...thank you for the clarification. Would have thought they could have just moved the stands closer to the field but I am no architect or engineer. -CF
  15. I gave compliment after compliment about Dixie and you picked out the one comment where I questioned my own judgement on the line play?? Wow.... -CardinalsFan
  16. So, I decided to treat myself to a little NKY football tonight. So I headed out to Dixie tonight to catch the Jags and Colonels go at it. Figured this would be one-sided affair, but still good football to watch. That...was a mistake. Cooper is terrible. I mean...absolutely horrible. Can someone please explain to me how a program who played for a state title just a few short years ago got that bad, that quickly?? I mean, my goodness... As for Dixie, they've got a few players, no question. The QB, #7, is special. Throws a nice ball and can really move when he gets in open space. Long strides eat up a lot of yards. #27, the RB, is a player. He is short but hits the hole hard and is going to outrun most defenses he plays. The WR, #8, is big and has good hands. The lines played well as well but I really can't tell if that was them being good or Cooper being unbelievably inept. But lets be clear on one thing. Dixie is NOT competing with the powers in Louisville. They are a nice team that could make a good post-season run, but I've seen Trinity. And Dixie is no Trinity. They probably aren't St. Xavier, Scott County, Male or Manual either. On a side note, I love Dixie's new stadium area. It was beautifully designed with lots of open spaces and good sight lines. I am very surprised at how small the visitors side is. 5 rows of benches? Really? I imagine CovCath has trouble getting seats for all their fans when they travel down Dixie highway. Also, LOVE the ticket prices! $5 adults/$3 students?? Are you kidding me? Now I know why all you NKY curmudgeons complain when the Showdown tries to charge $10/ticket. You need to take out a loan from Uncle Sal to make it work! Good luck to Dixie the rest of the season. Cooper...good luck finding your way in 2015. -CardinalsFan
  17. It's official. Two more years. No reason to think it's going to end anytime soon. -CardinalsFan
  18. Agree with everything posted here. St. X seems to be playing their best ball right now but there are realistically, 7-10 teams that could go home with the hardware. Off the top of my head... St. Xavier Moeller Elder Wayne Hudson Mentor St. Edward St. Ignatius (5 privates, 3 publics....just sayin') Best of luck to the Tigers. Hopefully they catch St. Xavier napping and can pull off the upset. The Bombers are playing for the #1 overall seed in Region 2 (Columbus and south). They have little chance to get it, even with a W, but NO chance if they lose. Can the Tigers throw the ball? How mobile is their QB? How are they at stopping the run? Pass rush? -CardinalsFan
  19. Not a problem. Would just hate to see the crowd lessened because of a misunderstanding in ticket prices. The website says "Students" are $10. One would assume that is meant as "High School Students", not elementary students. However, a bit of clarity would have been nice with a simple "(Everyone 10 years old and younger admitted FREE!)" after the details. Enjoy the game everyone!! -CF
  20. Just confirmed with SHDHS: Everyone 10 and under gets in FREE. Enjoy the game! Rain has blown out and it will be a BEAUTIFUL night for soccer. GO CRU! -CardinalsFan
  21. Who did you talk to? The KHSAA directions are very clear. Print off the paper and bring it with you. Do not sit at home because your kid can't watch for free if he's under 10. They will let you in, no issues. -CF
  22. Did you just compare St. Xavier Cincy to McCracken County?? That is awesome.... The lugnuts on Yappi will enjoy this one. -CardinalsFan
  23. From Cincinnati.com: The Crusaders will have Dunbar on 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Henry. The Bulldogs are defending state champions and are 17-4-3 this season after beating Henry Clay 2-1 in the 11th Region final. The Crusaders, 13-6, have won eight of nine games. -CardinalsFan
