Moeller has lost 3 of their last 4 games. They are guaranteed a playoff spot. Yes, a win would help them get a home playoff game, but it doesn't guarantee it. Moeller has almost no running game. UPDATE: For those of you who are interested. Moeller beat Elder this past weekend St. Xavier beat LaSalle this past weekend What does that mean? A couple of things as it pertains to Highlands: 1. The Highlands game vs. Elder could[/i ]be crucial to Elder's playoff chances. They play Winton Woods this week and Lasalle in week 10. Assuming they beat Winton Woods, they will still need a win against either Lasalle or Highlands to get in the playoffs. Given Lasalle's mostly "up" season (except for the hiccup against St. X), one could easily see the Panthers losing to the Lancers in week 10. The matchup vs. the Bluebirds will be key. 2. St. Xavier and Moeller finish GCL play 2-1 in conference. Elder is 0-2 and LaSalle is 1-1. If Elder loses to Lasalle, they will be 0-3 in the GCL after beating the consensus #1 team in the country earlier this season in Lakewood St. Edward out of Cleveland. Elder would be a great pelt to hang over the Highlands mantle this season. Just thought some of you might like an update. -CardinalsFan

This game shows the difference in depth between the two schools. All of Colerain's quality sophomores played on Friday night. And with less kids than Trinity, by far, there just isn't much left to play on Junior Varsity. I do hope these schools continue the series. Despite the JV and Varsity losses, it is a pleasure to play such a well coached and talented program. -CardinalsFan

It was exactly as I thought it would be. Donald Brooks is a man among boys. Colerain just doesn't have the horses defensively this year. There was no answer for Brooks at all. He had 200 yards and 4 TD's at the half. The defense did a much better job in the second half. Truth be told, Colerain really gave this game away. Their lost fumbles on the snap just put Trinity in too good a position NOT to take advantage of it. 915 yards of offense between the two schools. BOX SCORE It was a fun game and a good series. This game will not be close. As I said all spring and summer, the Cardinals don't have the horses to win this contest. Ohio instituted the running clock this year for the first time.
