Trinity at Colerain, recap of Imhotep game.

Featured Replies

The Shamrocks (1-2) visit the Colerain Cardinals (0-2) in Cincinnati this Friday evening. The kickoff set for 7:30PM. The Cardinals dropped their season opener 40-21 to La Salle. The Cardinals followed that with a loss to Cincinnati St. Xavier (2-0) 31-12 this past Friday. Trinity defeated Philadelphia’s Imhotep Charter School (1-1) 30-6 for the Rocks first win of the season.

In last week’s game at Ballaban Field, Colerain trailed 14-6 at the half en route to their 19-point defeat. Jr QB Dashaunte Jones rushed 23 times for 152 yards. The Cardinals replaced 15 starters from their 12-1 squad last season. Eight sophomores are starting for Colerain.

Trinity’s game with Imhotep was played before an estimated 7,500. Trinity outgained the Panthers 326 yards to 233 yards. The Rocks outrushed Imhotep 123 to 63. Trinity avoided the turnover bug that plagued them in their first two games. The Rocks were focused as they were flagged twice for a total of ten yards. The Panthers committed 8 penalties for 51 yards.

Sophomore QB Larry Harper III (7 passes/11 attempts-59 yards) played very well. The only negative statistic against the offense was allowing 4 sacks for 43 yards. Senior RB Donald Brooks scored two touchdowns and gained 147 yards on 23 rushing attempts and junior Jalen Reed added 1 TD with 14 yards on 4 carries. Junior wide receivers Enzo Palombino (2 receptions-26 yards-1 TD), & Dalton Jones (2-13 yards) contributed to the offensive effort. Senior placekicker Andrew Deye added a 32 yard field goal and three PATs. Brooks also completed one pass for a 21-yard touchdown out of the “wildcat” formation.

On the defensive side for Trinity versus Imhotep, Adam King (Sr-DL) recorded 5 tackles. Landon Corolla (Sr-DL) added 4 tackles. Blake Corbett (Sr DB) also recorded 4 tackles. Damon Lowe (Jr-LB), Brentton Ervin (Sr-LB), Rodjay Burns (Jr-DB), Canon Jackson (Sr-DB)and DJ Johnson (Sr-DT) added three tackles each. Ervin (2), Corolla, Johnson and Connor Foos each recorded sacks for Shamrocks for 28 yards.

Colerain is a run first wing-T formation team. The Rocks have shown success defending against the run. This must continue in order for the Rocks to pick up their second win and even their record for the season. Senior QB Ryan Young is expected to miss his second game due to a concussion suffered versus Carmel.

Trinity tidbits: Donald Brooks has rushed for 358 yards in the three games this season. Trinity committed no turnovers versus Imhotep. The Rocks’ Zach Berger (Sr-LB) recorded one interception versus the Panthers.

I received word that the Cardinal offense is the veer.

I received word that the Cardinal offense is the veer.

It is neither a Wing-T or a Veer, it is a triple option with multiple looks. You will see single-wing in motion, I formation, shotgun, etc.

Where can I get Trinity's roster and starters? Will they be bringing any media with them to Colerain this week?

Maybe you can have the Rev teach it to Petey.

Roster on trinity website. Never seen them post starters. Donald brooks carried the offense on Friday night.
