  1. Cards looked unstoppable in their game vs. Coffman. Going to have to exercise some demons against the St. Xavier Bombers this Saturday. And then, we're rewarded with a likely matchup vs. Elder. -CardinalsFan
  2. Where would the Simon Kenton/Scott Co. game be played? -CardinalsFan
  3. Maybe if I have LOTS of extra time this week, I will apply the Harbins to 6A and see which 8 teams of the 32 in the class (that is laughable, by the way) would qualify based on their outcome. -CardinalsFan
  4. I think it's a good system. Rarely, if ever, does a team not qualify that is state championship quality. And ultimately, that is the purpose of the Harbins: to determine a field of teams that are worthy candidates to compete for a state title. While Moeller fans are complaining now that at 5-5, they should be in the playoffs because their QB is now completely healthy and they are playing great football, their record just doesn't measure up. I will say, one fact continues to blow my mind in regards to Moeller: Since they created football in the early 60's, NO Moeller football team has EVER had a losing record....EVER! Many years of 5-5 to start and occasionally since, but not a single 4-6 or 4-5 to be found anywhere. That's impressive, no matter where you get your players..cough, cough...KY6...cough, cough... :sssh: -CardinalsFan
  5. Margin of victory has nothing to do with the Harbin rankings, that is correct. -CardinalsFan
  6. Believe it or not, there are other states who use a computer generated algorithm as well to determine their playoff teams. It actually is a really good way to reward teams who beat good opponents as opposed to teams who may dominate a district/conference and build up a 9-1 schedule playing nobodies. People in Ohio generally really like the Harbins (surprise, surprise!). Since we don't have districts/sections/regions, it is the best way to even out the playing field across 7 divisions and almost 800 schools playing football. -CardinalsFan
  7. St. Edward traveled in their ONLY true road game of the year and lost to St. Joseph Regional (NJ), 22-20. Amazingly, every single one of the rest of their games were at home or at a neutral field. One could make a compelling argument that they haven't really been tested...yet. Yes, the QB from Coffman, Gunnar Hoak, is committed to UK. Unfortunately, there is no place online for me to grab his total YTD stats. -CardinalsFan
  8. They would LOVE to reconsider their schedule, but they can't. They play in a "conference" with only 3 other teams which leaves 7 games to find. Unlike KY, we don't have districts, sections, regions, etc. where your schedule is based. It is based on conference affiliation first. Add to that the fact that Moeller is generally "not liked" in the Cincinnati community in regards to their methods of "acquiring" their students. There was even rumored talk of the largest conference in the city, the GMC where Colerain lives, had a gentlemen's agreement to boycott scheduling Moeller in football. I am sure that is as likely as Moeller illegally recruiting their students. :sssh: -CardinalsFan
  9. For those that may be interested, the OHSAA has released the state playoff pairings to begin this Friday night and continue through the first week of December. OHSAA High School Football 1st Round State Playoff Pairings A couple of interesting notes: Moeller, at 5-5, failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2001, a string of 13 years. Division I power Cleveland St. Ignatius (11 State Titles, most in Ohio, any division) also did not qualify for the playoffs Despite the loss to Cincy LaSalle in week 3, Colerain finished with the 2nd highest Harbin total in Division I Again, in Division I only, there are only two regions with 16 teams in each. They play in a bracketed format with no re-seeding. Colerain is the #1 seed in the Southern, or R2, region which encompasses Cincinnati, Dayton and half'ish of Columbus. Ideally, the #1 seed should have the easiest path to the finals, right? WRONG-O!! If the seeds play out, Colerain will have to go through both St. Xavier and Elder just to get to the state Semi's, where they will likely have to face either 10-0 Wayne (state runner-up from 2014) or Hilliard Davidson (2-time State Champ) just to earn the right to play St. Edward (defending State Champ) in the State final....WHEW!!! Man, I love playoff football. Again, just sharing for anyone that may be interested. Post any thoughts/questions you have. -CardinalsFan
  10. Ohhhhh....that's right! Forgot about that absolutely insane rule still being allowed in the Bluegrass. Thanks for clearing that up. -CardinalsFan
  11. Uhhhh...not to stir the pot, but to stir the pot...HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE???? -CardinalsFan
  12. Great information. Very helpful, thank you. The Bombers are not a team that puts a lot of pressure on the QB. They run a 3-3-5 defensive stack. I think Ridder will have success as long as he makes decisions quickly and doesn't "stop and start" every carry. Hoping against hope the Tigers can pull out the win. -CardinalsFan
  13. I agree. I noticed looking at the stats posted on the KHSAA website that the QB seems to do a lot running and not much passing. This can be successful against the Bombers if you have the speed to get to the edges. I assume the Tigers are NOT slow. Make no mistake, I am all bluegrass on Friday night as I will be pulling heavily for the Tigers. A loss by the Bombers will not exclude them from the playoffs but it would, I think, put them on the other half of the Division I state bracket in Ohio meaning we (Colerain) wouldn't see them until the state semi-finals. Not opposed to that. It's a mental thing. Colerain is better than St. Xavier, but you just...never...know.... -CardinalsFan
  14. A couple of corrections in what you have stated above. St. Xavier is IN, no question. Win or lose against the Tigers, they are in. However, I do agree that Coach Specht will certainly paint the picture that they NEED this win as they have lost 2 in a row and 3 of 4. LaSalle is going to roll Elder. As for secondary points, they get those whenever a team they have beaten wins. So if CovCath (not likely), Mentor, Moeller, Cathedral and LaSalle all win, they get points. The fact that Cathedral's regular season is over has no bearing on the Harbins. St. Xavier will get points for Cathedral's win, WHEN they beat Lawrence North. I am pulling for a St. Xavier Tiger victory. If STXLou is a program that still predominantly runs the football...good luck with that. The Bombers are not what they have been historically but they are good enough to stop most teams they play if running the ball is their primary means of moving and scoring the ball. -CardinalsFan
  15. A win will probably get them a home game. If they lose, they will be on the road in week 1 of the playoffs. They are in, regardless of outcome vs. the Tigers. -CardinalsFan
  16. This Bomber team is one of the weaker ones in recent memory. They are certainly beatable. Tell me, what do the Tigers bring to the table offensively? -CardinalsFan
  17. The umps screwed my Cardinals...ROYALLY! Whether it was a fumble or not (it wasn't), the fact that Jarrell White, #2 in the video for LaSalle, was lying on the ground when he took the ball from our QB and then stood up, using his elbow for leverage says that worst case for Colerain is a turnover at that spot. It should have NEVER been what it was. It was a 14 point swing in the game. Colerain had almost 500 yards of offense and generally dominated the game. We made several unforced mistakes which ultimately kept an inferior Lancer squad in the game longer than they should have been. It was one of those games where the Ohio State bound kicker for LaSalle, Drue Chrisman (6'5" 194 lbs), got all the attention for the 42 yard kick with 10 seconds left but earlier in the game, after missing two XP's, Colerain's kicker Christian Dinevski nailed a 50 yarder (school record) to extend Colerain's lead to 29-22. The good news is, LaSalle has to come to Colerain next year to finish off the 2 year contract. :rage: -CardinalsFan
  18. The King is dead. Long live the King? -CardinalsFan
  19. The game is at 7:30 PM. If you are traveling, I would recommend getting there no later than 6:30, if you can. Earlier the better. If you are not traveling but would like to watch the game live, you can do so HERE. I am going to warn you, like every high school broadcast, the announcers are terrible homers. I mean...terrible! Go Cardinals!! -CardinalsFan
  20. The Pit is ABSOLUTELY worth the trip. We have had the privilege of playing there one time. Would love to make another trip back there again. -CardinalsFan
  21. This is a true statement. The defense must be solid to prevent from falling behind and forcing an option based offense to play catch up. -CardinalsFan
  22. Yes sir. 8801 Cheviot Road. 75N to 74W. Get off the North Bend Road exit, turn RIGHT and keep driving until you see Colerain High School on the left. North Bend turns into Cheviot a half mile in. -CardinalsFan
