  1. Good post. Those twins may have developed into players. But they were just way overrated coming out of high school just like Zoubek. Zoubek, like you said was an awful player for 3 years, maybe 3 and 1/2 years. His elevated play made Duke a championship team.
  2. I like that idea the best. The opposition I assume would be having students out of class a day earlier.
  3. I never have liked him very well. Hes always been the one guy on UL's staff I don't like. I think Pitino has done a good job picking other assistants.
  4. I'm sorry, but even though you are trying to talk technically and all that stuff, black citizens fighting for equal rights is not the same as women fighting for the right to be topless.
  5. I think 5 is a good idea. I think that would improve some of the travel difficulties and atleast eliminate the 0-10 teams from making the playoffs.
  6. Are you really comparing what Martin Luther King did with this?
  7. http://www.kentucky.com/2010/05/07/1255403/fields-ideas-for-new-khsaa-commish.html This could have went in a number of threads. I was torn on whether to put it in basketball or football. But if you look at the 3 suggestions Fields makes I have to agree with him on all 3.
  8. I said this last year after seeing them in the McDonald's game and in a high school game. Those guys had no business being McDonald's All Americans. I think because they signed with UNC they were able to be on the team as much as anything. I just wasn't a big fan of those 2.
  9. The only thing I would add is that there are a lot of great programs not in those 6 conferences that are major D-1 basketball. Here is some teams that are consistently good and have better programs than most teams in the big 6 conferences. Xavier Butler Gonzaga Memphis Charlotte UAB Temple Utah BYU New Mexico Dayton UNLV And a lot of other teams fluctuate over spans of time bieng really good.
  10. If Calipari does have no interest in the job as he has said, doesn't this make Adrian Wojnarowski look stupid for saying this?
  11. I seen it on WYMT last night. Frazier has been an assistant at Bell Co. for the last few years and is highly thought of. Good hire for Middlesboro.
  12. Like Calipari said yesterday, players who are younger and not playing will have the opportunity to play JV. Jon Hood could have benefited from playing JV last year and maybe even Dodson a game or 2.
  13. I think its a good idea. The question I have would be about practice. Would they have a seperate practice? I know Calipari doesn't like to have a bunch of players around at practice like Gillispie did.
  14. This is not good. I'd like to see the GPAs improved a lot. Hopefully this spring will be a different story, although I don't know that it will be. I'd say most people have a pretty good in their heads who the culprits are. I've heard rumors myself. But in Calipari's defense this could be some players that were already there that have academic problems too. I hope this issue is dealt with and we see a nice hike in GPAs in the spring semester. Also, I hope Tipton has another article about it for better or worse. Next years freshmen class looks promising. Kanter speaks several languages I understand and I hear is really smart while we have all heard what a strong student Brandon Knight is for starters.
  15. I would imagine that if UK gets Jones they will have the #1 class. I can't imagine anyone having a class better than the: #3, #6, #13, #21, and #33 best players in the class.
  16. Hey I've been right since the 2005 season saying Duke was overrated until this year. Thats a pretty good percent. Seriously, Irving can really play. There is no doubt about that. I just thought Selby was the most athletic and explosive of the 3 PGs and it was noticeable in an all star game setting. It will be fun to see how they play against actual defense and see how they defend themselves.
  17. Ive never seen Irving except in All star games. I did see Selby in 3 or 4 high school games as well as allstar games. I thought Selby was better than Irving, but I have seen Selby more too. As for Kanter, just curious, have you not seen him enough to put him in the top 5 or is he not as good as those 5 in your opinion?
  18. At UK he would be a 4 I would imagine. Which with UK's offense still means he will be on the perimeter most of the time and be a matchup problem. I'm not saying Jones is a center at all, but with Kanter and Harrelson being the only 2 big men right now he may have to play 5 if UK goes small out of necessity. Assuming Jones comes here of course and if UK didn't get someone else inside.
  19. UK's got a great class as it is. If we can get Jones we'll have the top class. He is a huge recruit for UK. Not surprising with the rankings change at the top. I'd probably put Barnes #1. But I love Selby's game. Hes very good and fun to watch. Kanter is a player and he outplayed Sullinger warranting his rankings. I think it will be interesting to see who is the better player next year between Irving and Knight.
  20. What does that have to do with anything? If you can play and work hard good things will happen for you. Thats what Hall has done. Congratulations to him. He has made a big improvement every year that I have seen him and its great to see him get his college paid for at a D-1 school.
  21. I disagree. I do not think the decision should be made lightly for a kid to move up, but if its a situation where a kid is ready then I say move them up. I think we should do what is best for the kids. If a kid can develop better by moving up rather than staying with kids in their grade and not getting any better because the kid is so much above everyone else then why not let them move up. As an 8th grader the kid from Shelby Co, Hicks contributed for them. As a freshman he had a great season. He was ready to move up and Shelby Co. did what was best for that young man IMO.
  22. How do you decide case by case who deserves their school paid for who are in school an extra year?
  23. He inaccurately depicted Flannery IMO. Hes probably 6-3 and a very good shooter. I thought he depicted him inaccurately. I'd much rather talk positively about high school kids rather than call a kid a dime a dozen who is very talented.
  24. I went to several Scott Co. games this year and one thing I noticed about him was how his all around game has improved. I thought he passed the ball very well and he rebounded and defended good. I also seen him score some off the dribble and around the basket. When he was a junior I would have considered all those things maybe even a weakness for him. Just talking to me and some of my friends we all thought he really improved. I'm sorry you can't control talking negatively about high school kids. Thats tough.
