  1. You may disagree, but the term honest and christian come to mind when I think of John Wooden, but not perfect either.
  2. I think the term saint is very appropriate when describing John Wooden. If you know anything about him I would think you'd say the same thing.
  3. Yes him choking players and acting like an idiot had nothing to do with not getting players. Lets not paint him out to be a rule-following saint...lol The one thing I have against Knight going on this list is his teams were irrelevant from about 94 through the rest of his career.
  4. I'd imagine Shelby Valley will be good again. They have great tradition over there and I would think they will hire a good replacement.
  5. How do we know Wooden cheated? Can you give me some proof? The man died who without a doubt was an amazing man and one that did a tremendous amount of good in his life.
  6. I think it is of bad taste. Why would you write an artilc criticizing a great man right after he died? I would say it is amazing the life he lived and what he did for people and how many lives hes touched. Why bring up something that he may have had nothing to do with to criticize the man?
  7. The thing about Naismith is he invented basketball not necessarily college basketball. And I heard he didn't have a very good record as a coach. So I was more less looking at success of college coaches.
  8. Who is your Mr. Rushmore of college coaches? The whole John Wooden situation got me thinking about it. To me there are 3 obvious ones and the 4th is tough. I think John Wooden, Coach K, and Adolph Rupp should all be on there. The other spot for me is a toss up between Dean Smith and Bobby Knight. Unfortunately if this was a naitonal discussion I don't think Adolph Rupp would be on a lot of people's mountain. But look at his career winning % and National titlles (4 and an NIT title that was different than it is now, much more important). Hes also 3rd on the all time wins list and was made to retire because of a silly rule at UK concerning an age limit. But if you look at what he accomplished then look at how he is without a doubt responsible for the state of Kentucky mostly being basketball crazy I think he should be on there.
  9. If you haven't read his books I would highly recomment it. I've been watching ESPN classic and looking up youtube videos with him in it today. What an amazing man!
  10. I heard the local newspaper listed Wright, Marcum, and Parks as the final 3 candidates. Is this true?
  11. I don't think anyone on here is joyful about the divorce, just making a few jokes about it. Over half marriages end with divorce and I guess people have become a bit de-sensitised. Al Gore has made a killing off the global warming debate and some of his other projects that I believe is a myth so I don't really feel sorry for him in this situation.
  12. I wonder if they would have had to forfeit their games still yet without the plane situation where Rose's brother flew for free. My feeling was that on top of the ACT score is what the problem was. Still yet though, I just don't see how the NCAA can rule a player eligible and then punish the school afterwards, unless the school did something unproper to get him eligible.
  13. If the NCAA ruled him eligible doesn't that put UK in the clear unless its found out UK did something wrong?
  14. I have a lot of questions surrounding this. First, is there any sort of evidence that points to him cheating in high school or having his transcripts changed? Second, isn't it illegal for his transcripts to be passed around to everyone in the media? Third, how is UK responsible for something they had nothing to do with after the NCAA rules him eligible? If he was committed to UK all this time when this happened things would be different. What would other universities had done in this situation? If grades were changed on a transcript that is wrong and awful and shouldn't have happened. But if a coach gave the family money to help pay the rent of a poor family to help the family get by I commend him for it.
  15. Just some guys I think should be in are: Dudley Hilton Chuck Smith Billy Hicks Bill Mike Runyon Tom Larkey Chris Renner (eventually) Phillip Heywood
  16. Duke deserved the national title. There is no denying that. But if you can't admit that going in Duke's bracket was really weak then we are wasting our time discussing it with you. Purdue was missing their best player, Villanova was an awful 2 seed and had no business being there. Baylor never beat anyone good all year, and beat mid majors to get to Duke. It was a weak bracket. Duke took care of business though and they beat 2 great teams in the Final 4.
  17. Well its fun when UK and Duke are both good. It is kind of a compliment that we don't like Duke, because if they weren't any good then no one would care about them. Same with UK and their haters.
  18. The only thing I am jealous of is the bracket Duke was given to make it to the Final 4.....lol. Duke has a great program. No one can deny that. Its amazing what they have accomplished. But for the previous 5 years I have talked about how each year they are overrated and won't go far in the tournament. I was dead on each year. This year I felt the same way the first couple months of the year. Then IMO because of Zoubek's emergence, became a great team. Nolan Smith also had a huge year after a down sophomore year. I had them going to the Elite 8 actually, which is the fartherst I had them going in my bracket since Deng was there. I think its hard to deny that Duke hasn't been anything special the last few years until this year. Now it appears Duke is back to being elite again. Getting Irving to come to Duke is huge for them too.
  19. You have 6. Then you have guys like Ge-lawn Guyn, Shaquille Wilson, and Elijah Pittman that are D-1 caliber guys. 2 more interesting guys are Aaron Watts and Ian Chiles. Anyone heard anything about them?
  20. I meant that they got him to transfer in 2 or 3 years ago. They have just been attracting a lot of talent. Morrow has done a good job over there, but hes been in trouble a couple times too.
  21. J'town has attracted a lot of talent recently. Cosby transferred over there as well. Seems like they've gotten some other transfers too.
  22. With the exception of the Alcoa game really no one has scored very much at all on Bell for the past 2 seasons. I don't think that will change at all this year.
  23. Yeah it seems like Moultrie makes sense assuming Kanter is 1 and done and Harrelson will be leaving and then who knows if Jones will play more than 1 year.
