Jason Booher

Before we get this one started, please remember that one of the things we pride ourselves on here at BGP is accuracy. So let's not go starting new rumors just for the sake of laughs or to stir stuff up just for the sake of stirring it up. And if you do feel like doing that, rest assured there are plenty of people on this site who are in a position to really know, and therefore shoot down your unfounded and irresponsible rumor. Thanks in advance for your cooperation. Now, for the interesting stuff.

Coming off a Sweet 16 championship, Jason Booher is arguably the hottest coach in the state, and it appears he is looking around for a new challenge after winning state and a pair of All A titles.

I've been told he interviewed for the Bardstown job and is a top target. His name has now also come up in connection with the open jobs at Clay Co. and Holmes. All three would seem to be appealing for various reasons to someone like Booher.

Two questions I have:

Where else has he expressed interest?

For the life of me, I'm unable to recall what his other coaching stops (as an assistant and head coach) have been. Can anyone fill us in on that?

He was an assistant at Corbin several years ago.

Assistant at North Hardin and Shelby Valley. Head coach at Belfry for a season or two. Not sure of others...

Didn't he coach briefly in the 12th Region? For some reason I keep thinking he and I crossed paths during my time living in 12th Region country.

1 year at Belfry.

2 at Henry Co. I believe.

2 somewhere else also.

I can't recall Booher serving as a head coach in the 12th Region at any point in the last 10-15 years. He might have been an assistant coach. He may very well have even been a head coach, but I've racked my brain and can't figure out a place where he would have been.

It may have been when he was an assistant at Corbin. Not 12th region, but played a lot of those teams in the area.

That must've been it. When was he at Corbin?

Under Deaton during Deaton's beginning years at Corbin.

That would have been before I was in the area.

Is he a good coach? I know he had excellent players, not taking anything away from him by no means.

To the contrary I have heard that Shelby Valley will be reaching out to East Ridge coach Raymond Justice to fill the void if Booher does leave. Although I'm sure they are more interested in Raymond's son (who will be a frosh) than they are him.

Sure, he had good players, but separately, other than Justice, none of those guys would really wow anybody and make recruiters flock to Robinson Creek. The whole was much more than the sum of its parts at SV, and that's because of his coaching.

Cameron Justice will be an 8th grader, but is expected to start for ER...
