  1. Anyone got stats on the game tonight? Good to see Bell play so well. I wish they could have pulled it out!
  2. Guys you are not getting anywhere by taking shots at each other's programs. Both are great players. No award should be decided yet.
  3. I want to start by saying Sewell is a great player and by all accounts a fine young man. I have been around him a little and have been impressed by how he handles himself. Any accolades he gets he deserves. I really feel for him tonight, like a ton of other kids in Ky they have played their last HS game. For me that was very hard to handle when I played my last game. Now that being said I completely disagree with your post. The award is based on the entire season, including the post season. I think Sewell still has a good shot at it, but there is no way the decision on who to vote for should be made yet. That would be a travesty and mockery of the situation.
  4. Eastern had a great team too. What a tough region! They would have been the best team in atleast 10 of the other regions in the state!! If they can replace Thomas at the point they are going to be really good next year. I look for them to be a top 5 team in the state in 2010-11 season. Good win for Ballard! You win the toughest district in the state and then have to face Eastern...wow.
  5. I think you meant to put HC. Bell beat Harlan Co. twice in the regular season and lost to them in the district finals.
  6. I'd like to see the 11th broke up some too. Maybe send the Madison Co. schools to the 12th or send Franklin Co. schools to the 8th. Or some how split it down the middle. They could move the the 43rd district to the 12th region and maybe move Danville's district out of the 12th along with Rockastle. Just a thought.
  7. It seems like KC is prbably playing their best ball of the year and Harlan Co. is coming off a big win. It will be interesting to see how things shake out. Bell Co. IMO will be a tough game for Corbin. We have tough kids that will play hard. And Robbins should be getting healthier the longer it lasts.
  8. I don't know if this is a big upset for Butler to win (they have a quality team). But the score is really surprising!
  9. I disagree with UKYBBALL and loudballfan. I think your biases are affecting your judgments IMO. It should not be decided yet who gets the award. Justice has had a great career, but this year is the only year that matters. Sewell has been great all year and been a winner, but so has Justice and so has Aaron Watts. Watts has actually played against a much tougher schedule than Justice and performed at a very high level. IMO the award is still up for grabs and really should be! Then players like Ricado Johnson, Elijah Pittman, Dakota Euton, Chad Jackson, etc have had very good years, but have teams that are balanced and haven't put up huge numbers.
  10. Yeah from a competitive stand point I think it would be better to have Corbin in the 51st and Williamsburg in the 50th. That would balance it out some.
  11. Very good point! This is the game of the night in the state of Kentucky for sure! These maybe right now the 2 top teams in Ky. It should be a great game. While I know there is a lot more to it than this I believe the team that wins the rebounding battle will win tonight.
  12. Without really looking at the situation in the 14th it would make the most sense to move the Harlan schools. Especially with the region going to be in Corbin every year. Harlan schools would have had the longest trip, except for maybe Jackson Co.
  13. How about this: 49th-Rockastle, Jackson Co. Clay Co. OBI 50th-SL, NL, Whitley Co, Corbin 51st-Lynn Camp, Knox Central, B'ville, W'burg 52nd-Mboro, Bell, Pineville, Redbird Move Harlan and Harlan Co. to the 14th. Or move Corbin to the 51st and W'burg to the 50th.
  14. Its sad because it sets the wrong example to students. I was at a game last week in Lex. and a fan who I think was the parent was using very bad language and being very loud. And right beside him was a family with 3 toddlers.
  15. Kids should be able to choose whatever they want to play. But if a coach presents opportunities for kids to play ball in June and a kid chooses not to then a lot of other kids do participate that is going to put the kids that do participate in a better situation to improve and get better. When I was in high school I participated in multiple sports, but I loved basketball so I played that year around and am glad I got the opportunity to do so.
  16. I believe Watts has been just as impressive IMO. Justice is also a great player. His value to his team is tremendouse. Then there are a lot of other great players this year too. I think what Sewell's team has done has been very impressive and hes the obvious leader of the bunch. But I think its completely wrong to act as though he should be a lock for the award right now.
  17. Tough break for Seneca to have to play Trinity in the 1st round of the district. They are a top 20 team, but their district is ridiculous. Same as with LexCath.
  18. Hes done a great job at Bryan Station. Hes took them from nothing to having a very good team at times.
  19. Have you ever watched LexCath? Thats just how they play. I don't know if I've ever seen them not play that way. And what they've done has worked quite well for a long time. They have a good team, but Lafayette was a little better.
  20. Lafayette is very good. They are probably the most athletic team in the 11th region. They have great speed and players like Walker and Hagans are All region guys. Also a player like Shaw is tougher than nails. Hes not going to score a lot, but hes so physical and quick that he makes a big difference on the court.
  21. Your right. Lets see how things play out. Now I all the stuff Justice has accomplished in the past don't really matter. The award is based on what he does his sr year. Based on that hes definitly a strong candidate along with Watts and Sewell. Although I wouldn't rule out some other guys yet either.
  22. Watts has had a huge year too. Sewell is right there and deserving right now as are several other guys. But thats right now. Lets see how things play out before crowning someone Mr. Basketball yet.
