Without knowing about all the teams in the region that well I would say: Clay Co. Bell Co. Corbin South Laurel Knox Central Of course with all the transfer rumors that could change really quick!

I also left off Samsel fom Manual. Hes a very good guard.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Youv'e got a lot of good players and probably 1 or 2 I've never seen that are really good, but I think the following have a pretty good shot: Elisha Justice Jarrod Polson Chad Jackson Thomas Jackson Josh Sewell Shaquille Wilson Ricardo Johnson Ge'lawn Guyn Delquan Thomas Ian Chiles Keiston Jones Dakota Euton Elijah Pittman Josh Whitaker Dominique Hagans Mike Walker Matt St. John Isaac Wilson Madison Johnson Vance Hall Tate Cox Taylor Epley Ashley Hatfield Donovan Gibbs Those are all very good players and I'm sure I'm missing some good ones. (I forgot the boy from Newport's name, I could add him to the list).

Who makes the team? I think this is going to be a very difficult team to pick with so many good players.

I'd replace Thomas Jackson with Chad Jackson. Justice should win.

The biggest thing that happened was Jackson fouling out. All of a sudden Ballard became A LOT more athletic than Scott Co.

Thats a theory I heard. I did not know who any of the refs were watching the game, but its been talked about on another thread. .

Any time you make it to the Final 4 you've had a good season. In a 1 game scenerio anything can happen. What Coach Hicks has shown over the years is he can win big games. His accomplishments as a coach speak for themselves. According to the LHL hes now tied for the most wins ever in the Sweet 16. I've also heard hes about to break Bobby Keith's all time wins record. For some to say he does very little coaching or is not one of the best in the business is silly.

It may have something to do with the referee from the 16th region refereeing 2 games in a row. Someone in another thread said that he called almost every foul against Euton and Jackson in the 2 games.

I wish they would get more Ky kids, maybe try to get 3 or 4 a year, but it is a big national showcase tourney so I guess I see why they don't.

I can't believe how close the thread is. Shelby Valley split with Elliott Co. last year and obviously improved tremendously from last year. Every player got a whole lot better. I think a big advantage this year's Shelby Valley team would have over Elliott Co. is on the boards.

Christian Co. and Ballard weren't exactly timid on defense either. I thought Euton got fouled a few times and it wasn't called. But hes a big man and a lot of times that happens with bigger guys getting beat on without getting calls.

I would definitly put Polson in front of Johnson and Sewell. I'd also put Chad Jackson ahead of Johnson. He had a very good season and looked really good in the Sweet 16.

You act as if Butler wasn't a good team. Even though the 6th region isn't all that strong its still a Louisville region and Butler beat some great teams to get there. After watching their regional championship game with Iroquois on Wazoo I didn't think Knott could beat them myself. You should leave Fraley alone. He got the job done. Getting to Rupp is a big deal.

I thought the refereeing in general was poor. I felt like the refs that got the 3 games Saturday was not even close to being the best the state has to offer.

It seems these awards are a regular season award. Really not a true representation of the coach of the year. I think it should be voted on after the regional tourneys.

Its too early to tell. You never know who will transfer to different schools in the region.

So if Scott Co. deserved an asterisk, doesn't Holmes deserve one last year with 3 starters who were transfers? Also, in 07 Scott Co. won the state and didn't have any transfers. I heard all the kids went to middle school in Scott Co. as well. They went undefeated in the state of Ky. Plus them being in the 11th region they have gotten more notoriety. The win over Huntington with Mayo and Patterson was huge IMO. Then you look at their schedule they go to City of the Palms or Beach Ball every year, which are huge hs tourneys that get a ton of exposure. With the program Coach Hicks has built kids are going to want to play there.

Justice gets a lot of credit, and deservedly so, but I think Hatfield is an underrated player. Hes a very versatile player and should get a lot of college attention with his size and the way he shoots.

:thumb: Exactly. A lot of teams have transfers. Knott Central had them. Newport's best player was a transfer. Last year Holmes and Hazard had 3 transfer starters. Those are just the examples I know about. I have no idea if all the Ballard players are from Ballard's district or Christian Co.

I don't see how Justice cannot get, especially considering the postseason goes into consideration. Also, I think Polson is a close 2nd. Man he can play!

How have they sold themselves out? They put a basketball team together of kids that went to school there this year. What were the supposed to do? Not let the kids that families moved to Georgetown play basketball?

If the situations are even I believe Ballard wins fairly easily. But Ballard has had to play against 3 really good teams (3 teams IMO that would beat the 3 teams Shelby Valley has played soundly). Shelby Valley has had an easy road to the championship game (the easiest I have ever seen). Ballard has had knock down drag outs with Warren Central and Scott Co. I just worry about Ballard being a little wore down with the level of competition they have had to play compared to Shelby Valley.

Its my understanding that its a regular season award. Based on that its hard to argue with what McCreary Central did.
