  1. I enjoy the discussion, so I don't expect the debate to die down even if the matter is "settled". Question when 6 classes was institued, what was the reason stated for the change?
  2. If that is true, and the KHSAA has been able to determine that there are 1,000 additional boys partipating in football due either solely or primarily to going to six (6) classes. I wonder what the participation levels of other sports would be, if the KHSAA either added classes to to non-classifed sports or added additional classes (the most any other sport has is 3 I believe) in the sports that now have classes. What is unique to football?
  3. Exactly. My son thinks chicken nuggets every meal is a great idea, the Jiffy Lube guy always says I need a new air filter, etc. Sometimes it is difficult to seperate what is correct or right, from what we want, what makes us happy, what is easiest, or ... gasp... what makes us look best.
  4. After Dilts beat Bellevue so bad last year, I am really suprised that Menefee called off the dogs at all in this one.
  5. Maybe they should stop awarding district and regional trophies. Walk through any high school and there are more trophies than there is room to house them. My guess is that every school has a room filled with trophies they deem not worthy for display.
  6. Coach Styer is a great man and coach, the Camels are losing a good one. All the best to Troy and his family.
  7. Really? Mismatches and bad football help what? Quantity does not equal quality. This is a terrible argument that is repreated frequently on this board.
  8. While it may not be in a schools best interest to be in a conference for making the playoffs, there must be some benefit otherwise they wouldn't be in a conference. It is the schools decison.
  9. The kids in Ohio know the bar is set high. The Colerain kids knew going into the games with St. X and Elder that if they didn't perform, the path to making the playoffs was going to be very difficult. However, they also knew that if they did make the playoffs they had actually accomplished something. Unlike KY where making the playoffs is like getting a little league trophy. I feel much better about an 8-2 team missing the playoffs than I do about 43 of 45 1 seeds beating the 4 seeds by an average of 52-10.
  10. You can get rid of the first two (2) rounds of playoffs in KY and it would still be settled on the fied. The way the districts are set up every team does make the playoffs just like basketball, which is the argument that is so frequently articulated. The only difference is those district games are embedded in the regular season because the nature of football only allows for one game per week. Like Stinkyboy said, since the OH playoffs expanded to 8 teams per region, I can't think of a single team with no or one losses that have been excluded.
  11. Then if 6 is good, 10 would be great and 20 even better. It really is all about making little Johnny feel good about himself (even if it is a bit artificial). Right? TIC
  12. You put your faith in people who have a vested interest in maintaining this awful system? A better analogy than yours is letting the Coach's and AD's determine the playoff system is like asking the guy at Jiffy Lube if I need a new air filter.
  13. Are there any good volleyball public schools?
  14. I never could get past the sound of his voice to even be able to focus on what he is saying. Needless to say no matter how inflamatory his thoughts get, I don't listen.
  15. I think that anyone who wants to go to Lexington Catholic should have the right to go there, with that said, my guess is that the success that Lexington Catholic experienced in the 1990's and 2000's in all sports was fueled by more than just the Catholic poplulation of Lexington.
  16. Guess you have never heard that two wrongs don't make a right. Please never ref.
  17. I agree with everything you are saying and that more info would be helpful. However, the one piece of info we do know is that JC let WC score in an apparent attempt to set the record. My thought is that at the point that where setting record becomes more important than giving a full effort and playing the game, then the integrity of the record is lost. Just to add a thought, letting a team score in order to get a record is much different IMO than letting a team score as a strategic move to preserve clock and have a chance to win/tie.
  18. So since NCC's students come from all over the county and the children's parents pay taxes to various school districts, which stadium would they be entitled to play on?
  19. If Brossart brings money to the table and Campbell brings money and the facility, which school's teams do you think will have priority use of the field?
