  1. I will wait until I have read the book and Bell's thoughts for myself, but like Hatz I don't have to agree with everything he writes in order for it to grow me. Rob Bell asks lots of questions, I like that, because I fully admit that I don't have all the answers either. I am always wary of people who do pretend to have it all figured out, are secure in every aspect of their theology, and give criticism freely to anyone that disagrees with their theology. I find Rob Bell refreshing and real.
  2. HT721: You do realize that the bloggers criticizing the book and making assumptions about both it's contents and Rob Bell's views have not read the book. As you said - it has yet to be released.
  3. Anyone notice the number of tickets that were comped? WOW!!! I understand that coaches put in a lot of time and for little pay, but I have witnessed this being abused.
  4. I had never thought of what a mockery the regional tourney could potientially be if everyone did what the 36th did. At least it would be consistent I guess.
  5. Maybe, but at least with seeding a district you have to earn your way in based upon your regular season play, which is quite the contrast to regular season means less than what is drawn out of a hat, which is what bulldog77 prefers.
  6. True. Spoke too quicky. It is a tourney and anyone can advance, but I am not sure why we want to equate Bellevue being lucky enough to draw on the right side of the bracket against Dayton with Holy Cross having to work to upset Cov. Cath. or Holmes. I have no problem with a draw, if every district was a draw. I have no prolem with seeding, if everyone seeded. It is the mish mash we have now that I don't like.
  7. The top two teams from the seeded districts make it every year.
  8. Bob Sphire was Lexington Catholic's head coach and the head coach of the Lexington Horsemen (or whatever Lexington's arena team was called).
  9. On the boys side last year. On the girls side it would have been last year had the 36th seeded. That was easy. Next question.
  10. Playing in rec. tourney with your classmates is exactly the same thing as representing your class and your school in the regional tourney. (dripping with sarcasm). Freshman kids might be moved up to fill out the roster of a JV team or for other reasons, but that does not mean that the kid had rather be playing up instead of playing with their peers. Especially true with girls, but I am sure there are boys who enjoy playing with their classmates too. Freshman year is the only year of high school you have a team made up of just your class. I think it makes for a unique experience that should not be discounted. As I said originally there is no right or wrong. Only different options. There are positives and negatives either way.
  11. This topic comes up over and over. There is no right or wrong. There are positives and negatives (other than winning and competitive reasons) no matter what the coach chooses. Generally I think it is a positive thing if a player, who usually plays JV/Varsity, gets to play with their peers, even if it is just for a tourney.
  12. Listerman has been there for 20 years or so, but I believe he spent most of the 1980's elsewhere.
  13. Are Boone fans that tough? I wouldn't have guessed that.
  14. I would have been amused to be in the room to see Larry Vaught's expression.
  15. Chuck Smith couldn't close the deal.
  16. I suppose that is one way to look at it. However, my best guess is there has been more coaching turnover at Campbell County than any school in Northern Kentucky other than Ludlow. Certainly Campbell County has had more turnover than the other larger NKY schools that they are trying to complete with. Something is wrong when you have that much turnover. I don't folllow basketball that closely, but I believe their head basketball coach has been a revolving door as well.
  17. The the old guy seems to be missing in action in this thread or maybe just entered a witness protection program. For a guy that knows the scoop, he is awfully quiet.
  18. A softer schedule than what Cov. Cath. has been playing historically. Not saying that is a bad thing.
  19. Jim in case you missed it: The purpose of starting the thread was to ask, why do we provide transportation for kids who live within one mile of school? Do you really think that is a good idea?
  20. The amount that this specific initiative was not disclosed, only that it was apart of $12 million plus in cuts
  21. The real purpose of my initial post was to ask, why do we provide transportation for kids who live within one mile of school. We could argue whether the effort required to get yourself/your kids to school increases engagement, but you are going to have a hard time convincing me that unless there are some really extenuating factors that providing transportation for kids who live a mile from school is a good use of tax payer money for strapped school districts. Lakota schools agree with me, I just wonder why it took so long.
