Everyone doesn't know that. They don't seed the Sweet 16 (or the region for that matter). Truthfully not seeding the district is a little more consistent than the districts that do seed.

Which is what I was trying to get at earlier in this thread. The kid in question was from Lincoln County, but when he leaves Danville fights it all the way. Coaches' egos are fragile.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Bobby Leffew play under an injunction after being ruled ineligible by the KHSAA his 5th year of HS? I know it was a totally different situation, but if that were the case "eligibility controversy" would not exactly be new ground for the Rebels.

Which is Danville schools or Lincoln County?

Not that it matters in regards to his eligibility, but just curious as to when Dunn started attending Danville schools?

Why is this more an issue in Pendleton than it is in rural Campbell, Kenton and Boone?

Then don't leave us hanging, if it is easy to answer then answer it. What was unethical?

Just for clarification: Was it just unsportsmanlike when he ditched his Cov. Cath teamates for Highlands between his Jr. and Sr. years or was it also unsportmanslike when he ditched his middle school friends and teamates in Boone County to attend Cov. Cath?

The list of very good athletes that have transferred during their HS years to another high school is very long: Britt to Danville Popp to Lex Cath Euton to Scott County Jones to Scott County Hundley to Scott County Jackson to Scott County Moss to Boone County Nevels to HHS Stephanapolis to Boone County Avery to Holmes These are just a few off the top of my head and that list includes 2 Mr. Basketball's. I am sure there are many many more. In every single case the athlete moved to an athletic program that was arguably superior to the one they left behind. In every case the kid was ruled eligible by the KHSAA and allowed to play. If I gave my gut feeling on any of them I would say they were all athletically motivated, but I have zero proof (and likely the KHSAA didn't either or they wouldn't have been eligible); however, the KHSAA really needs to have more than a gut felling, IMO. Now I ask you, why was the Mitchell situation different? Did the KHSAA have proof? Not sure any of us know the answer to that question.

So because Coach Ray wanted an NFL caliber player to play one way in HS, he is "correct"? I could come up with some other adjectives to describe this decision and "correct" couldn't be one of them.

Does the fact that NCC hired Eviston indicate that they wanted to stay in-house/in the family? or Is it more a case of despite being a high profile job and leader of a top program, that because of the salary it is really hard to attract a top coach? Nothing against Eviston, but one would think that a program of NCC's stature could attract a coach with more of a successful track record.

I am not a big fan of calling kids names. It appears you were OK with her transferring to Ryle from Heritage, but not OK with the transfer from Ryle to Boone.

I voluntarily scratch myself every now and then as well.

There are plenty of senarios not defined by the KHSAA as a conflict of interest where officials voluntarily scratch themsleves. Not wanting even the appearance of bias by an official more than wanting to work a big game is a clear sign of integrity.

Really? Boone, Holmes and Highlands all lose quite a bit.

Discussing one particular offical on my part was probably the wrong way to ask the question and send the discussion. Maybe a better way to phrase the question is, "when should an official scratch themselves?" Do perceptions matter at all?

Individual calls can be argued forever and much of it is perspective. However, I think an interesting question is when should an official scratch themselves from a game? If Tim O'Hara is indeed an alum of NCC should he ref an NCC game? Does it matter if he has been out of school 20+ years?

She left and the team got worse. To me that hardly means there was any lasting impact to the overall program, which is what "setting the program back" would imply. Ryle girls weren't good when she was there and they were worse with her gone.

How does a player leaving set a program back 2-3 years?
