I like Earls, but he is having an off year. I don't think he is even in the top 3 in scoring or rebounding on his own team. Sizemore is nowhere near top 10 in NKY IMHO.

I agree how can you keep a kid off this list when he earns double, double or nearly does almost every night against the competition that he has gone up against nightly!

 

As CovCathiRadio stated in another thread when talking about how many double, double nights Thelen has had...."Right around 8.

He had 9 rebounds with double digit scoring four times".

 

So if the young man had earned 1 more rebound in four games you are talking 12 double, double nights out of the 17 games CovCath has played. He has got to be in your top five!

I know that Ricardo Johnson is a little more polished than Pittman, but I don't understand why people continue to rate Ricardo ahead of Elijah.

 

You take away Ricardo and Holmes can still win against good teams. (See Christian Co game)

 

You take away Elijah Pittman and Holmes looks like an average team.

 

I'd go with the following top 5:

 

1. Elijah Pittman

2. Ricardo Johnson

3. Jeremiah Johnson

4. Demarko Foster

You could probably make a case for about 15 different kids for 3-10 though:

Covcath is dependant on Thelen though and that's why he puts up the numbers he does. The kid is no doubt a great talent but he isn't top 5 IMO. I think Grubbs and J. Geisler are both better big men than Thelen.

 

Covcath has nobody else down low to rebound outside of Wellbrock which is why you see Thelen producing the way he does.

 

If anyone is being overlooked here, I think it's Tyler Grubbs of Highlands. He has a lot of weapons around him so he doesn't put up the huge numbers like Geisler and Thelen, but he is the best true big man in nky, IMO.

But if what you are saying is true, then it makes his numbers even more impressive, as the other teams defenders are double and in some cases triple teaming him and working hard to denie him the ball. See paNDA pictures of the different CovCath games and see the "D" used against Thelen.

 

While it is true if you have more weapons surrounding you, you don't get as many chances but when you are the man, you are also the marked man on the floor and you have to work even harder to get yours.

The reason Rico is ahead of Pittman is because Pittman only plays hard when he wants to. Rico plays hard every game. He does it on both ends of the floor, always guarding the other team's best player. If Pittman gets pushed around by the other team he stands at the free throw line and doesn't like to play inside (Princeton game for anyone who saw would agree.)

Based on this year's numbers, I wouldn't put McLeish, Stauffer, Cotton, or Pike in. Solid, but not top 10 in region.

 

Grote hasn't even hardly played this year. No way he is top 15 at this point.

Montgomery (Boone) has to be considered. He has been Boone's best all-around player this year IMO.

Also consider Brown as well and he is not even a constant starter and has provided greatly to that team in many different ways.

Yes, and you can probably throw Popp into the discussion. He and Brown and Gabbard are Boone's leading scorers and big contributors in other ways as well.
