Any list of the top 10 without Reiger on it doesn't hold much water with me.

 

Completely agree, of the players I've seen this year Jacob Reiger is in the

top 5. Absolute gamer who lays it all on the line every game. Brossart is having a better season than what many thought in large part though Jake's play and leadership.

I'll give my shout out to Ben Watson and Jacob Reiger as top ten at this point in the season. I think they are similar type players in that they are strong underneath and don't give up space....leading to boards and solid D. Jacob is a better shooter/scorer but Ben has really been the stable force on a talented HHS squad that has been plagued by injury and has developed his scoring as the season has progressed.

 

I felt like they were clearly the best players on their Shining Stars team this Summer that had lots of NKY bests. They are tough to defend...... neither is flashy but both are effective.

Not yet. Everything is deffered inside to Jake. They have nothing else on the perimeter. His numbers are good, but he has no one to compete with on his own team in the category. He has to score or they lack. Definitely a good player though.

 

Don't agree with that statement....Wellbrock is havng a a heck of a season on the inside and gives CovCath a nice combo inside. Wellbrock is averaging a double/double to complement Thelen on the inside.

Just using the stats to show that Jake is a well rounded player and not just a scorer as some other posters have indicated. He is a presence on both ends of the court. I wouldn't rate him as a top five player right now but he is knocking on the door in that 6-10 range along with a couple of the other top juniors in N Ky.

I never said he wasn't a well rounded player or in the top 10. I simply said that he wasn't top 5. :thumb:

Where does Matt Trammel rank in the mix. He just had minor back surgery but is expected to be back before districts. This is a kid that averaged 9 points for dixie as a sophomore and started the year with a 24 point game. If everything heels correctly from his surgery and he is 100%, I believe he is the #1 player in the region in next year senior class

Jake Thelen- Covcath

Kevon Rice- Holmes

Bobby Stauffer- Ryle

Travis Montgomery- Boone Co

Brandon Hatton and Matt Trammel are almost identical I think. I know Brandon will only be a freshman next year but I think they are identical. I think Brandon is a little better though. They are both extremely good atheltes though.

There's no question in my mind he is top 5. Very athletic, great defender, very nice shot, and can break down a defense by getting to the middle almost at will.

He is much quicker than Hatton and can get to the basket. Hatton is a great shooter if left alone but Trammel is better off of the bounce and can play better defense. Hatton is only an 8th grader...so who knows how much better he can become. The sky is the limit with him!
