Top 5 Players in N KY:

Featured Replies

I personally wouldnt have Andy Earls in my top 10. He is a nice player, but top 10 in NKY is a slight stretch in my opinion. And, i think that if you mention Jake Geisler you have to mention Bobby Stauffer. And, Jake Thelen should be mention if Geisler and Stauffer are. He can score.

Somehow my brain stopped working when I previously mentioned Thelen and Geisler as top contenders for POY next year. I'd put Stauffer in there as well. He will be THE scorer for Ryle next year.

There's a lot of talent in nky this year, but how many players that we're mentioning are actually top 5 players?

The only legit choices I can think of are the following:

Ricardo Johnson

Elijah Pittman

Jeremiah Johnson

Stephen Kowolonek

Demarko Foster

Mike Gabbard

These are the 6 best college prospects in NKY, IMO.

For seniors. There are lots of juniors that are allready getting looks in NKY. Some have taken visits, some will be taking visits soon. Legitimate looks and possible offers.

I agree.

I can tell you from watching several Dixie games that none of those stats are accurate as far as assists, rebounds etc. I am not sure who takes care of that for Dixie but they are doing a poor job of it.

Same goes for Conner. Terrible at keeping stats. I went to a game and personally counted the points, assts, steals, and boards of one of their guards, and they were severly incorrect on the enquire site.

Thelen has earned Top 5 recognition IMO. If you go off performance ytd.

Not yet. Everything is deffered inside to Jake. They have nothing else on the perimeter. His numbers are good, but he has no one to compete with on his own team in the category. He has to score or they lack. Definitely a good player though.

To be a "top college prospect" today, you had better have the grades and the SAT and or ACT scores to boot! Do all the above have the academics to be College players?

See Derrick Rose, John Wall, and Eric Bledsoe.:sssh:

The only 3 with legit Grades!

Unless you have personally seen their grades, I don't think you should be commenting on how a kid performs in the classroom....whether he/she is making the grades or not..

Some very solid players on your list. But one of the most solid performers this year has been Ben Watson of Highlands. I haven't seen the stats but I wouldn't be suprised if he's close to averaging a double/double. Also he's been very consistant at the free throw line. He should definetly be in the top 10 based on performance to date.

Ben Watson currently leads Highlands in points, rebounds and steals (Stephen Kowolonek has missed three games due to injury). He is shooting 57% from the floor and 78% from the line.

Jack Stewart from Highlands should also be on the northern Ky. junior watch list. He has played very well for the Birds this year in the post and had good games in the Birds wins against NCC and Cov Cath. Jack leads the team in blocks, is second in rebounding, third in points scored.

Jack also had a big summer on the AAU circuit with the Firebirds.

He would easily be a double/double guy if the Birds didnt have such a loaded Sr class but he still gets solid minutes and is a nice shot blocker. If he can put on 10 to 15 lbs by next season he will be a solid Top 10 player in the Region.

Didnt he play with the Bulldogs? Stauffer, Trammell, etc?

I know that Grubbs was unavailable for AAU summer ball so maybe the Firebirds picked him up. Maybe Remmac can clarify.

Any list of the top 10 without Reiger on it doesn't hold much water with me.

You are correct. Stewart did play with the Bulldogs. He did go to Nationals with the Firebirds, but as far as I know that is the only tournament he was with them.

Thanks for the clarification. I knew he played with the Firebirds at nationals and had a very nice showing, but forgot all about him playing with the Bulldogs.
