That's the impression I got from listening to the games.

Very fun and entertaining game tonight. Corbin got down about 8 or 9 in the 2nd and then came out like gangbusters in the 3rd to take the lead. I think the difference tonight was players 6-9. Scott County simply had too much talent in the end. Hats off to Corbin though, they knew they can play with the big boys and did. I guarentee that the Cardinals have plenty of respect for Corbin after the two games this year.

 

Not that it made a difference but the difference in the game had to be the technical on Manns in the 3rd. He didn't cost the Hounds the game so if he reads this, I'm not blaming you big man, the game is full of emotion. He got the personal foul and then slammed the ball. Scott has just regained the lead but Manns was starting to wear on SC. Those fouls put him on the bench with 4 about midway through 3. From there, Scott co took over.

 

Congrats to the Cards and we're proud of you Hounds.

Agree that the turning point of the game was the T. The Big Dog doesn't get blamed if the emotion turns the other way and Corbin regains the lead. The two blantant walks and the missed goal tend that went against the Hounds also zapped some emotion from them. Thought the Corbin coach was going to tackle the one referee after the goal tend that wasn't called. Almost seemed like the refs were waiting for the other to make the call and then just swallowed thier whistle.

 

As far as Scott County goes, I wasn't impressed. Fourth best team I saw today behind Ballard, CC and Shelby in that order....just today that is...Friday and Saturday are different days but that wasn't a very inspired state tournament type of performance. Also expected the SC crowd to be out in more force. I guess they are waiting for Friday.

Yea those were some questionable calls. They definitely swayed the momentum. I won't say that they changed the game because there are bad calls in every game both ways but it was big for momentum. The walk was bad..he picked the ball up with both hands, took about 4 steps to gain his balance and laid it in.

 

At the end of the day, Scott County was just the better team from top to bottom. I think 5 on 5, Corbin is pretty even. Not necessarily God given talent but matchup wise.The bench was just too strong and wore Corbin down.

 

How about a hand for Corbin Sr Luke Stewart. He came in and played his rear off. I'm so proud of him. He's a good kid and deserved to go out with a bang. He didn't shy away from the bright lights or hype of the Cards. Came in and took it right to them.

Scott played like they thought they had already won the game. In the end the best team won in a pretty dominating second half. I get the impression that many think CC will beat Scott, but I do not see it. CC might be the most athletic team in the tournament, but Scott will prove to have the better basketball team.

Instead he calls the charge and then compounds it by giving Manns what I imagine was the first technical of his career. Scott Co. gets the two technical FT's and then scores and gets an and one on the possession, so instead of a two point game, you have a nine point game. Even more important in my opinion was that Corbin had to abandon their defensive game plan and start trying to trap and press Scott Co., which did not work out very well. Scott Co. most likely would have won anyway, but that particular play really changed the game tremendously.

 

I thought that Corbin's defensive game plan was very good last night because they turned Scott Co. into a jump shooting team until about midway through the 3rd period, and quite frankly that is not Scott Co.'s strength. I also thought that Hicks' defensive game plan was very solid as they really tried to take Wilson out of the offense by being physical with him and also double teaming him without giving Johnson open looks. They basically were daring the other three Corbin players to beat them and with Manns playing about half the game due to foul trouble, their third option was neutralized as well.

I thought it was a 50-50 call, but the fact that Manns lowered his shoulder was the difference. That is a call that they get all year long in the 13th but you are not going to get it in the Sweet 16. I thought that there were several calls that went against Corbin, but I thought Corbin also got the benifit of several no calls in the first half too, so that is kind of a wash.

 

Bad call or not a player, in particuliar a Senior, has to keep his emotions, so that is all on Manns.

 

It looked to me like Scott was not into the game till late and thought they had the game won prior to even taking the floor. Was not impressed with the effort of Scott till the second half, thought they were play very individually while Corbin played hard and as a team, which was why they were able to compete.

 

Corbin had a great season and played hard, was proud to see them represent the 13th even in the loss they played hard.

Hard to watch Scott County and not think this team as a whole is less than the sum of their parts.

I didn't notice that he had slammed the ball to the floor as I was too busy suggesting that the official make a visit to "value vision" while he was in town. That's completely out of character for Manns as he never says anything or shows emotion, he normally just plays the game. The foul and the technical gave him 4 fouls, which really hurt Corbin because he and Johnson were keeping Scott Co. off of the offensive boards and Corbin had to go real small at that point. I guess you're right, he let his emotions get the best of him this time.
