I watched the replay of that and the ball only bounced head high, so he must not have slammed it too hard. I think a good official would have turned away in that scenario and let it go, but it just seemed that that official did not particularly like the Redhounds.

 

You should have had a good view of the "block" of Freeman's shot after it obviously hit the backboard and actually appeared to almost be inside the rim before he raked it out. What did you think?

Scott played like they thought they had already won the game. In the end the best team won in a pretty dominating second half. I get the impression that many think CC will beat Scott, but I do not see it. CC might be the most athletic team in the tournament, but Scott will prove to have the better basketball team.

 

I agree. I don't think CC shoots the ball outside well enough.

Corbin didn't get its fair share of calls in this one...

Honestly I thought Corbin played harder all game long and never gave in.

 

A couple of walking calls were missed, but I thought that they let Smith and Taylor ride Euton early in the game. Goaltending I do agree with, it should have been called. All that together would not have made a difference except in the margin.

 

I understand that tourney are called different than the regular season but there is no excuse for missing some of the calls I saw missed. I was a bit shocked at the Technical foul on Manns but I was not close enough to hear what was said and coupled with the slamming of the ball (does not matter how high it goes) I would bet that the official was not going to shown up by the player.

 

Corbin had a great season and that will be remembered in years to come by the players more than the loss itself. Remember only one team in the state of Kentucky finishes with a win.

SC crowd will not be as good as normal because none of the kids are from Scott County. Hear the student body isnt really supporting the team due to the fact that no kids from SC are playing except Shotwell...and he left and came back....if Hicks doesnt win this title he should be ashamed....

That's odd. I was fortunate enough to attend the LexCath/Scott County 11th Region Final last year and Scott County traveled very well to Richmond for that game and that's pretty much the same team this year isn't?

 

 

Is Avery Ford from Frankfort? I was wondering if he was the kid who came to Scott County with Isaiah Ivey from middle school.

 

Are those middle school players serving as ball boys for the varsity team?

 

As far as the technical on Manns goes, did he say anything about the call or the ref or did he use foul language? I always thought if you caught the ball when you slammed it that they normally do not call a technical. I was wondering if he may have said something to draw the technical. Definitely a game changer.

Avery Ford is a Scott County kid. Nobody came from Frankfort with Ivey, unless I am totally mistaken. It has been well chronicled on here that 5 of the 7 top kids didn't not attend middle school in Scott County (Euton, Flannery, Guyn, Ivey and Jackson). Manning and Shotwell did. After those top 7, I believe only Barber transferred in, the rest are Scott County kids.

I don't think that it affected the outcome of the game anyway, that sequence just accelerated Corbin having to play Scott Co.'s pace and probably inflated the final margin of victory.

 

Corbin needed to play better to be able to beat Scott Co. and maybe catch a break or two along the way.

I went back and watched it again(I believe that it was at the 1:21 mark of the broadcast). Manns jumped up, facing away from the official, threw the ball behind his back, which took one bounce and went directly to the Scott Co. player who kind of batted the ball away, then turned to the official and made the technical signal, then the official called the technical.
