It was very good. The term "shackled to a corpse" was how Germany and Austria always referred to their alliance with the Ottoman Empire, but the book argues Austria-Hungary was a bigger corpse that any other. Terry Yeast was the athletic director at Mercer County for several years before moving to George Rogers Clark in 2023.

Four times - 2005, 2010, 2018, and 2024. The first three years he lost to Danville in the district. The Patriots lost to Boyle in the semifinals in 2024.

Never, although Lincoln didn't consolidate until 1974-75. Both Pulaski and Wayne missed the 1976 tournament while Lincoln made it, but lost to Somerset in the first round.

Burnside played in 4 regionals, the last in 1972. Their best finish was semifinalists in 1968 and 1972. Eubank played in 2 regionals, the last in 1957. In both appearances (1937 and 1957) they were semifinalists. Ferguson played in 8 regionals, the last in 1962 (they closed in 1968). The 1960 team lost to Bush in the semifinals, their only trip beyond the first round. Nancy made the regional just one time, falling to Danville in the first round in 1950. Science Hill played in 7 regionals, finishing runners-up in 1926 and 1943. Their last appearance was in 1948; the high school closed in 1953. Shopville made the regional just once as well, beating Middleburg in the first round before falling to Somerset in 1949.

Waggener beating Seneca by 23 caught my eye. I know the Wildcats have played well down the stretch and were at home, but I thought Seneca would get the win. The margin is very surprising.

1987 12th Region tournament bracket. Tournament was played at Pulaski County. Harrodsburg, Danville, Monticello, and Casey won first round games. In the semifinals, Harrodsburg beat Danville (54-53) and Monticello beat Casey County (75-72). Monticello, led by coach Wade Upchurch, beat Harrodsburg in the finals, 63-57. Both Harrodsburg and Monticello are now closed. Laurel County split into North and South and both moved to the 13th while Russell County moved to the 4th.

Two be clear, Wayne and Pulaski have each missed the tournament a few times over the years. This will be the first year since 1987 that neither team is playing.

In another thread there was talk about Caverna maybe struggling to field a team, so it might take care of itself. As for heading into the playoffs, different coaches have different ideas. Some want a tough game and some want their guys rested and healthy. If the latter is Stonebraker's mindset, the Caverna game in Week 10 makes a lot of sense.

Woods was 3-3 in his last six district tournament games and lost each of his last six region tournament games. So maybe he doesn't lose that game, but maybe he does.

It would be hard to prove but has anyone in program history missed more layups than Otega Oweh?

Lincoln/DCA and Boyle/Garrard should make for a fun night of basketball.
