After a pair of dismal 0-11 campaigns in 2023 & 2024, the Admirals brought in a new Fleet Admiral to take over the football program in 2025 - head coach Steve "Stony" Stonebraker. Much more in line with what Danville Football fans are accustomed to, Stony lead the Ads to a 9-3 season record last year. Their season ended in the second round of the 2A playoffs with a 26-19 loss to Somerset.

The Admirals offense will return starters in all of their key skills positions. QB Dillon Cruver, a freshman starter last year, was 85-152 passing for 1562 yards, 13 TDs, and 9 Ints, and he rushed for 1 more TD. Leading rusher - also a freshman starter last year - was Jayvian Meaux, who tallied 1869 yards and 31 rushing TDs on 230 carries, and had 1 more TD receiving. Both of their top receivers are returning as well in rising senior Trinden Sellers, who had 31 catches for 581 yards and 4 TDS, and rising sophomore Mylan Peters, who had 12 catches for 269 yards and 3 TDs.

The Ads D was led in tackles last year by yet another freshman starter, Braiden Ford, who had 126 tackles, 5 TFL, 3 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 1 INT as a starting LB. Rising senior Marquis Elmore was second in tackles for the defense with 74, including 6 TFl and 4 sacks with 1 INT. Trinden Sellers was tied for 4th in tackles with 68 plus 1 forced fumble and 4 INTs.

Things are looking bright in Danville with so much young talent returning for the Admirals' 2026 campaign.

This team should continue to make strides and should be exciting to watch. Hope to see the Admiral continue to trend up. Good for high school football to see storied program return back to glory. 

Probably looking at a 9-1 regular season. 

This is wise scheduling in order for the Ads to continue to build some momentum from last season in order to rebuild their program.

I think 7-3. Loses to WEB DuBois, Marion County and LCA. 

I think Danville need to find a way to buy Caverna out. That game does absolutely nothing for them heading into the playoffs, and why risk injury.

As a stoney fan, I think he will have the talent and gameplan to beat WEB and Marion. Stoney doesn't often lose games he should win and if the game is within a touchdown, he typically has his guys ready to flip that. I watched the Danville/WEB game last season and I can't see them losing to them when those young guns have a whole winter to develop. But, this is why we don't play the game on paper. Should be another fun year for the Admirals!

In another thread there was talk about Caverna maybe struggling to field a team, so it might take care of itself. As for heading into the playoffs, different coaches have different ideas. Some want a tough game and some want their guys rested and healthy. If the latter is Stonebraker's mindset, the Caverna game in Week 10 makes a lot of sense.

It was great to see Danville football finally get some positive momentum again after some terrible years.  Key to next season will be continuing to develop talent and add depth to the roster.  This past season was very much the Meaux and Sellers show.  They are great athletes/players/contributors but the Ads need more threats to get to another level and advance deeper in the playoffs again.  The LCA game last year showed that the Ads still have a ways to go in this department.

The scheduling remains soft but again, that is to be expected as the Ads try to rebuild community support and get kids to play again.  Last season was an A+ effort by Stonebreaker, who has fully embraced this job.  For the first time in a long while I'm excited to see what the Ads do next season.

Well, they need to get the ball to Mylan Peters. I've liked that kid since Elementary School. He's a tough kid on both sides of the ball. Idk why he didn't get many touches this past season. He's a game changer.

I guess the thought that if you’re leaning on freshmen then you’re in trouble appeared to be hogwash because it seems about every important player on last year’s team was a freshman.

The Ads should be able to compete in 2A. To get back to the "Glory Days" is probably a stretch. Because of the RPI requirements, scheduling up will be a problem. Since they dropped Boyle from their schedule and with little hope of ever playing again they are pretty much locked in to just where they are beating up on some weaker teams on a good portion of their schedule. Actually 2A is just where they need to be.

I wouldn't agree with this. I do think Danville and Boyle will resume their series but it will probably take another 3-4 years. Once Stonebreaker is able to get a full 4-year run of a class through and the Ads have depth again, then I think the Boyle series will come back. The community wants the game to happen but due to the Ads struggles post-Clevenger there was no point in playing the game when Boyle would slaughter the Ads. The rivalry probably won't return to its late 90s/early 2000s level but I do think this series resumes in less than 5 years.
