Central vs. Shawnee - 2/23 at 6:30pm

The Crimsons are heavily favored to claim their sixth straight district title, but Central and Shawnee should be one of the region's better first round games. The Jackets edged the Eagles by three behind Tae'ren Pryor and Jonathan Newby’s 48 combined points in their regular season matchup.

Prediction: Manual and Central advance. The Crimsons wear out the Jackets in the final.

St. Xavier vs. Louisville Collegiate - 2/24 at 6:00pm
Male vs. Brown - 2/24 at 7:30pm

X and H have decided every 26th District final since 2012. Don't count on that run ending any time soon.

Prediction: X and Male advance, where the Tigers overwhelm a Bulldog squad that's come unraveled. Mitchell’s back, but it's too little, too late.

Trinity vs. Atherton - 2/24 at 5:30pm
Seneca vs. Waggener - 2/24 at 7:30pm

The most competitive district from top to bottom. Trinity and Seneca are favored for the final, but don't be shocked if Atherton or Waggener throw a wrench. Waggener, in particular, has played well down the stretch.

Prediction: Trinity and Seneca outclass their first round opponents before delivering the tightest district final in the region. Jayden Johnson ultimately leads the Rocks to the title.

KCD vs. Portland Christian - 2/23 at 7:30pm
Ballard plays the KCD/PC winner on 2/24 at 6:00pm
CAL vs. Eastern - 2/24 at 7:30pm

CAL and Eastern is one of the marquee games of the first round anywhere in the state. The Eagles beat the Centurions by six on 2/13, following CAL’s win over St. X. The winner gets Ballard, who blew out Eastern in the regular season and handled CAL by double digits.

Prediction: CAL survives a barnburner with Eastern and gives Ballard a tussle before succumbing to the inside/out of Grivna and Edelen.

7th Region Tournament going to be tough to win. I like either St. X or Ballard to win it but could be a dark horse out of the rest.

As far as I know it will be based on past years. But I'm sure will know for sure by end of this week.

The 6th and 7th Region Tournament draw meeting is Saturday morning. Stay tuned. All match ups, dates, times and venues will be shared coming out of that meeting.

Waggener beating Seneca by 23 caught my eye. I know the Wildcats have played well down the stretch and were at home, but I thought Seneca would get the win. The margin is very surprising.

That one and Eastern over CAL by 15 were the standout results of the first round.

I had Waggener/Seneca all wrong. I thought the Wildcats were capable, but I expected Seneca to win with zero hesitation.

The only two teams that would surprise me if they won it are Central and Waggener. And Waggener just blew out a team that I felt was a sleeper pick to win it.
