Obviously when you lose some of the kids NDA has lost it has an impact. My question was even with the losses, does NDA still not have the most talent?

Post season success determines current talent level?

Even with the injuries do they still not have the most talented lineup in NKY?

If you think about what the KHSAA did to appease the large mostly rural public schools in the state in football it should erode any confidence in any decisions they make. - They created 2 extra classes to reduce the number of teams that have to compete with Trinity and at the time St. X. Double the amount of Track/XC and 6 times as much as any other sport. Football is a unique sport, but does it really warrant 6 classes in this state? - They put all teams in all classes in districts according to geography, except they create a super district with four of the historically better programs in the state so they eliminate each other in the opening rounds of the playoffs further reducing the number of schools which have to face these teams. Oh yeah and they had to throw geography out the door to accomplish this. - They choose to flip flop what side of the state the super district faces in the semi-finals - again to reduce the threat from the schools in the super district. Any objective person looks at this and sees how silly it is.

Former players can be wrong just like everybody else.

I guess it was a delayed reaction. Schools were upset with Dale for whatever he did or didn't do in the late 90's and they stopped scheduling him 10+ years later. I still don't think it makes sense and don't believe it. I think beating a guy you don't like would bring much joy.

No matter how they felt about Dale, I think that if local coaches thought they could have beat Dale they would have scheduled him. What is your take?

This was the email to the Elder faculty and staff from the AD. Dear Faculty and Staff, Unfortunately some of you might be waking up to the news that someone was shot at the PAC last night after the soccer game. It was me! Fortunately, I was treated, released and home by 12:30 AM. I am not coming to work today and I have no idea how to log onto Paycor , So Dr. Tucker, find me some subs and tell my classes to “Study”. What the police know right now is that the bullet was from a rifle and probably shot from a good distance. The bullet didn’t fragment, went in and out of the back of my leg – just a flesh wound. Probably wasn’t targeting anyone, could have just been shooting at a stadium light, or up in the air. I like to believe that. Am I lucky, yep! Just don’t want to focus on being “lucky” would rather continue to credit my Faith. Dan Hils (Alex’s dad) was the first to apply pressure to my wound and assure me that everything was going to be just fine. Just a week ago he lost his daughter but he was the first person “to give me comfort”. I was able to call my brother, a friend and a neighbor to head to my house as I called Jill. I had to tell my wife over the phone that I had been shot but was OK…Mr. Hils assured her everything was OK and she was able to drive herself to the hospital. My older brother met us at the PAC, while my lil brother headed to my mom’s house. Calling my mom and telling her I was OK was one hardest moments thus far. My kids were already in bed and asleep when this all happened. In the morning, I have to tell them I was shot, I am OK but then I have to assure them that everything is always going to be OK? Jill and I know we can do this because we are a family of faith. Elder grads and Officers Finley and Brogan met me at the hospital. The first detective was Elder grad Kevin Broering and father to my son’s best friend. These things don’t just happen, they happen for a reason, I believe it is Faith. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, sorry to ramble but I am probably not going to sleep real good tonight. You have zero idea what you are talking about. Dale had no interest in making long road trips to play teams he knew he would beat, but at the end of the day those teams stepped up to the plate when most locals (for whatever reason) wouldn't. I asked Dale personally during that period what opponent who won't schedule us would you most like to play. I know what I am talking about. You...well....like most things....not so much.

It doesn't - unless your battle cry is that you want football to be like every other sport and then it does. :jump: If track is your model, they have 3 classes and 2 weeks of post season. You OK with that? You do want it to be like every other sport - correct??? Stop it with the football playoffs need to be like every other sport. No one who utters that phrase means it. What they mean is we want football to be like every other sport when it suits their argument, but not like every other sport when it doesn't support their argument. How about we don't check our brains at the door and we structure something unique for a unique sport (it is the only sport that only plays one game a week, the physical aspect of the sport is unique, etc.). I have zero confidence in the KHSAA making decisions.

I guess I will ask again. What was Dale up front about?

What the future holds is anyones guess. Here is my guess.... I would think that the 2007-2014 run by Highlands was a bit of a statistical outlier - given that it is the most dominant run by any program in KY state history. I also think that the struggles of the last the last two seasons are also a bit of a statistical outlier. My guess is that future lies someplace in between 7 state titles in 8 years and a trip to the state semi-finals (in a down year). If the future lies between those extremes it might not be all gloom and doom.
