The OVC would be a better conference for NKU not because it would help all that much with attendence (Morehead and EKU the nearest 2 schools in the OVC don't draw markedly better). It would help because it would reduce travel costs for all of the teams the university fields.

All of this conversation is way premature. NKU has not secured a home game (I certainly hope they do and wish them nothing but the best). A couple of years ago both the 10th region and the 9th region tourneys were held at NKU, if they were able to work that out, then I am sure they can figure out a way to work one more game in that week. Although the ASun might require NKU to play on 3/3, the dates for getting the regional tourney in have some flexibility built into them (at least as far as the KHSAA is concerned). Also it would be interesting to see the contract and how it was written and what the contingencies were spelled out if NKU has a conflict.

2 thoughts on this: - If a kid wanted a way around, couldn't the parent just withdrawl the kid from school and declare them a "home school" graduate? - One the other hand, if high school really is a 3 1/2 year program, then there is an awfully lot of resources (time and money) being consumed with making kids go that last semester.

Brooklyn Rivers, who plays soccer for OE (she didn't play high school soccer in the fall - played for Highlands her Freshman and Sophomore years), has verbally committed to Louisville. Congrats to Brooklyn and her family. I heard this earlier this month, but OE published it so I guess that makes it official (as official a a verbal commitment can get).

So long as you don't require your assistants to be employed in the school this is less of a challenge. Also are we 100% of the belief that the major coaching positions at Cov. Cath earn less than their public school counterparts? There was no additional financial incentive to lure Ruthsatz here beyond the regular Cov. Cath faculty/coach package?

I was surprised when he made the move to Harlan County. Nothing against HC, but he had a lot of success at Rockcastle and my impression of the area was it was good community and place to live.

It is like the KY prep version of black Monday in the NFL. Only here is a random day in late January.

If they follow the basketball model for success, they should look for a coach, who has an elite caliber son, currently playing at a school in New Jersey. So with that is there an asssistant at Don Bosco Prep that fits the bill.

His decision or the schools?

Ethan is a beast running track/xc, but also in the classroom. As quality of a young man as you will find. He is high major D-1 athlete, but it wouldn't shock me at all if he sacrifices running for a top program to go Ivy league. Congrats to Ethan the Shuley family.

More on topic. I think Jeff Martin will do a good job with the Breds. Lots of respect for Jeff and wish him nothing but the best.
