I am not sure where the Highlands rumor is coming from, but I would be surprised if true.

Back to the subject of the thread. How much heat is Jermey getting in Colonel land? Does the PHM work its magic with the soccer program or does it just focus on football and basketball?

If football wants to be "treated" like every other sport then the post season needed to wrap up last weekend. Just sayin. :banana:

A few thoughts on the state championships: Class A: - Brossart boys lose their thumper in Michael Caldwell to graduation and were still able to repeat. Great effort and shout out to Chris Loos Brossart senior who really blossomed this year finishing 5th at state and leading his team to victory. - Individually I was sorry to see Villa's Eric Baugh not get the win. Eric is an exceptional student, runner, and young man and one of the best runners in the history of NKY XC. He will be a beast in track. I have heard Notre Dame is pursuing him and with his perfect ACT score and exceptional speed, he can go about anywhere he chooses. Eric got beat by Matt Bode of Collegiate, who is a future D-1 swimmer who on the side dabbles himself in distance running - what an athlete!!! - On the girls side St. Henry continues to amaze and dominate. Their reign may never end. They were led by Samantha Hentz, but really they run and win almost as a single pack. AA: - Highlands girls won their 3rd straight state title; however, it wasn't as obvious at the finish as previous years. CAL's first 4 runners ourscored Highlands top 4, but Highlands 5th runner was significantly ahead of CAL's. Highlands graduates no one and were led by sophmore Chole Gastright. - On the boys side North Oldham dominated and like St. Henry girls their is no end in sight to their reign. Ethan Shuley did put on a show in the boys AA race winning easily. Ethan (like Baugh) is one of the best distance runners in NKY history. Just a junior Ethan will be a beast in track and his senior year. Ethan and Eric Baugh will stage some epic battles on the track this spring, especially in the 3,200. AAA: - South Oldham led by the Dowdy twins pulled off a huge upset beating Trinity and St. X. Personally would have loved to have seen the Cooper boys win. The senior boys at Cooper are a great group of runners and young men - Zac Stewart, Brady Baker, the triplets (I won't even try to spell their last name). All really good kids and great runners. - I didn't pay much attention to the girls race, but I know Jeanna Flarity bounced back from her regional race and was the top NKY girl. Jenna really had a great senior year. NKY in XC was really represented by a quality group of runners and young people this year.

Then a heartfelt thank you for the kind people of Ft. Mitchell for teaching the young polar bears some great life lessons. It is unforunate that it took game 11 for them to figure it out. 10 weeks of beatings including lopsided losses to Brossart and Eminence (who beat no one other than Bracken County) just didn't do the trick; however, thanks to this wonderful playoff stucture Bracken County was able to figure out everything they didn't learn during the regular season. Perhaps we should go double elmination to give them one more teachable moment. Rational people do realize how silly and awful week 1 of the prep playoffs in KY are.

I had the same thought when we played Franklin Simpson a couple of years ago in the state championship.

Sounds like it was a "great" experience for Bracken County and hopefully Voice of Reason got to take it in and enjoy this format he defends and supports.

I know your theory holds no water. If these 4 teams fell in the same district geographically then let the chips fall where they are and put them in the same district. I am fine with that. I am not fine with the KHSAA ignoring geography to placate the masses. We had lots of maps here on BGP showing how this district was gerrymandered around other districts when this format was adopted. Additionally why would this single district get flipped east to west each year - how does that make any sense logically when it doesn't happen in any other class? I am actually all for treating football like evey other sports. Let's start with how many clases - do you want 3 like track and XC or none like every other sport.

Manipulating who can advance gives the KHSAA zero credibility. I am more interested in awarding teams that deserve it than I am where they come from or what the majority of fans want. I think that is better for KY football than manufacturing parity to keep the whiners happy.

Good point. I also think it is befuddling to me why football doesn't get more regular season games. Basketball, volleyball, and socccer all get more than twice as many regular season games. That too is just not logical.

There aren't many surprises in swimming. Tell me who your kids swim from and I will tell you who has the ability to compete at the regional and state meet and who doesn't.

What lesser known teams will have a big season? Swimming is about as predictable a sport as there is.

Wonder when was the last time the KHSAA let basketball coaches vote on what their post season looked like? I don't recall seeing the results, but I am sure that the 1 versus 6 classses was an interesting debate.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I think: 2009: Sr. Bardo was QB and got hurt, Soph. Towles took over as starter. I do not remember who was JV, but I am pretty sure it wasn't McCoy. 2010: Jr. Towles was QB, Soph. McCoy was JV QB 2011: Sr. Towles was QB, Jr. McCoy played WR, and Soph Houliston played JV QB 2012: Sr. McCoy played QB, Soph. QB Hodge played JV QB. 2013: Sr. Houliston played QB, Soph Hergott played JV QB. 2014: Sr. Hodge played QB, Jr. Hergott played JV QB

I don't think so. When Carter New was a jr. I think Donovan McCoy was JV QB.
