Curious to see what people would think if the Super District teams were all in different districts, what would the results be in the playoffs

Be more specific?

Every year the Super District teams start knocking off each other in the second round of the playoffs. Have not seen the results of all the first round playoff games and am curious to see if the Super District was the only district to advance all 4 teams? If so it brought me back to the first question would all the Super District teams be # 1 seeds if they all played in different districts and how far do you think those teams would have advanced in this years playoffs if they were not playing each other in the second and third rounds

All we really need to know is if those teams were split up on each side of the bracket they would almost always be playing each other in the finals.

IMO, they should be split up. In most years, T and X will be a little stronger than anyone else, but, Males on a pretty good roll the last couple of years and Manual is typically a little behind the other 3 but still strong. Teams like Butler, Scott Co, Meade Co, McCracken are getting better and wouldn't be dominated every year. Sure, a couple of them would likely make the semis every year and have some years where 2 make the finals, but, imo, the state championship games need to be played the 1st week of December, not the 2nd or 3rd week in November..

It's a no win situation. Split them up folks will complain. Leave them together folks will complain.

The "Super District" is apparently the only one that won all 4 of their games. So what? Leave it alone, most people are not interested in an all Louisville final. IMHO, an all Louisville final is not good for the KY high school football.

BTW, only 14 of the 95 games, 14.583....%, tonight were won by the visiting team.

Manipulating who can advance gives the KHSAA zero credibility. I am more interested in awarding teams that deserve it than I am where they come from or what the majority of fans want. I think that is better for KY football than manufacturing parity to keep the whiners happy.

The squeaky wheel gets grease. Regardless, the playoff system is too watered down. If only the top two advance, T and M would've been at home last night while X and H would've had more competitive opponents. Is it fair that the best four teams are in the same district? Yes! Put more of an emphasis on winning each game.

I really don't like all the realignments but you have to think khsaa will figure it out at some point.

Not sure this theory holds much water. These schools are geographically close. Yes, they may not be right next to each other, but still in the same area. That is pretty much like saying the SEC dominates in football, so lets move them to other conferences so they don't knock each other off and they can play against each other in the finals. Look at the other sports in Kentucky as far as regional winners. Are they the best 16 teams in the state, (volleyball, soccer, basketball), many times the state tourny is decided in the regional final in these sports as well.

I know your theory holds no water. :D

If these 4 teams fell in the same district geographically then let the chips fall where they are and put them in the same district. I am fine with that. I am not fine with the KHSAA ignoring geography to placate the masses. We had lots of maps here on BGP showing how this district was gerrymandered around other districts when this format was adopted. Additionally why would this single district get flipped east to west each year - how does that make any sense logically when it doesn't happen in any other class?

I am actually all for treating football like evey other sports. Let's start with how many clases - do you want 3 like track and XC or none like every other sport. :)

On the upside, there were 14 teams advancing in the playoffs that wouldl have been sitting home if only two teams per district qualified.

In a perfect world, the championship game would pit the best two teams in the state. That happens VERY rarely regardless of class. Often, the best two teams are in the same district or on the same side of the bracket this eliminating on of them before the championship.

This.

If you look at miles apart from each other in comparison to other districts then it isn't far at all, but given the traditional alignments in Louisville over the last 60 years or so it is obviously gerrymandered.

Frankly I would like it if the playoffs were seeded taking into account records and SOS as opposed to districts aa they exist now.
