  1. Mason Co. beats Brossart for the second time this season. Just too much experience for Brossart to handle and Brossart had a terrible ending to their season, losing 6 of their last 8 games. Just not playing well near the post-season so no surprise with this score. On the other hand, Mason Co. seems to be playing well and should get by Harrison Co. by double digits, but then onto the finals where they never seem to get over the hump against Montgomery Co. Hopefully history doesn't repeat itself because Mason Co. lost to Montgomery Co. on this same floor last time they were on it. If i remember correctly, Mason Co. was up by three with less than 10 seconds to go in regulation and alloted to allow Montgomery Co. to get off a three-point shot, which they made. Montgomery Co. went on to win in O.T.
  2. There was a time back in the early 90's where the 10th region teams didn't have all-tournament teams for the district OR regional. When asked, someone said that too many people get mad because some player here or another player there didn't make the all-tournament team so they did away with both. But I think in the late 90's the 10th region stated a coaches asssociation and started back up not only an all-region team for the tournament but all an all-region team for the season. Good to once again be recognizing the girls for all their hard work.
  3. Campbell gets rewarded for winning the district by drawing Bracken Co. who they should beat whereas Brossart plays Mason Co. who they lost to by about 30 points or so earlier this season. Winning the district in this case was monumental. Still see Montgomery and either Mason Co. or Clark Co. in the finals. Looks like Mac will bow out of another regional by getting the worse draw of the tournament for a district winner.
  4. As long as Conner can get over the Boone mystic, I see Conner winning this one by 6 or more.
  5. Well if you like stomping feet, pulling on players jersy's and some profanity thrown in - then you'll get a good show from her because you can count on it every game.
  6. I agree, a big turnaround, but that may have still happened had they not gotten a new coach. Kues proved year in and year out to produce very good teams and just because last year was a down year (because of facts already stated) you can't say it was just because of the coach. Having said that, I am not saying Coach Miller is not a good coach because surely he knows the game, but everyone always blames or rewards the coach for everything that happens. It's just the nature of the beast.
  7. I don't doubt what you heard at all colby because I have heard a lot of the words come out of her mouth during games too but because she the "HOLY NELL", nothing will be done about it. I think players just learn to expect that from her and apparently the parents of the players haven't brought this issue strong enough to the administration. Hey, as long as she wins, apparently she can do NO wrong.
  8. It is a shame that one of them won't go to the regional because they both deserve that opportunity after the season they have had. But it happens every year where teams don't make it out of their district because there are two very good teams who must play each other before the finals. Take a look at the 11th region - there are 5-6 very good teams and many much better than half the regions top team but only one gets the node to the Sweet 16. The 11th region tournament may have more talent than the Sweet 16 this year.
  9. They did not play, and will not play.
  10. If Highlands and NCC agreed to share the money evenly between the 5 schools if they seed, then those small schools would be guranteed money every year. I think money is only a part of it. I think the administrators and/or coaches would like to say they made it to the regional, regardless of the outcome. But I agree with seeding completely. There should be a reward for your season's performance and a blind draw might reward a team who has had a terrible season but happens to get in because they got LUCKY on one particular Sunday afternoon at a draw. Hate to see Highlands or NCC not make it to the regional. What normally happens then, is a district winner basically has a bye the first round when they play the weak team. But the KHSAA does not have the guts to instill seeding, thus this argument will continue.

  13. I have heard someone use their "famous" quote - "O.J. got away with more than that." from a certain Athletic Director anytime he disagrees with an officials call. Certainly uncalled for but on top of that very unprofessional from an Athletic Director who apparently can't control his comments. Doesn't shed much positive light on the school for which he represents. And on top of that, someone told me the boys coach at that school had to get on the A.D. for yelling things from the stands. I wasn't at the game but heard it from several sources. What's with that!?

  15. I don't doubt that somewhere along their progression that she tried to get them in her program. Just a pattern that she is well known for or is it just a coincidence that she has gotten players from seven different schools over the years? Yeah, I'm sure it was coincidence. Nice to see the shoe on the other foot for a change. Congrats to Ryle and their program.
  16. very good points and I agree with them all. However, I would like to add that officials (mostly MEN) do NOT put forth the same effort in a girls game that they put forth in a boys game. Somehow, many just don't believe it's that important. And I must contest that girls put forth AT LEAST as much effort as boys and many time much more effort. But is the officiating going to change? NOT LIKELY. I do greatly appreciate though the ones who DO work real hard. Funny, you hear a lot of them say at half-court before the game - "We will work real hard for you." PLEASE, don't say it if you really don't mean it. If you're going to talk-the-talk, then walk-the-walk.
  17. I understand why Bellevue, Dayton, and Newport are against seeding but to have two teams like NCC and Highlands play each other in the 1st round when they are CLEARLY the two best teams, just waters down the regional. Sure, one of those three teams get to go to the regional but almost guarenteed to be stomped in the first round. Shame that the KHSAA does not have the coconuts to step in and make it mandatory to seed. But that's what we should expect from a figure head with no guts.
  18. 5 - Central Hardin 3 - Paris 3 - Henry Clay 1 - Boyle Co. 1 - Montgomery Co. 1 - Notre Dame 1 - Tates Creek 1 - Harlan 1 - Wayne Co. 1 - Bowling Green Tiebreaker - 109 pts
  19. After looking over the Lit-ratings, it was interesting to note how many regions had teams in the top 20. ONE HALF of the regions don't even have a team in the top 20 and region 14 has the lowest #1 team in a region. Here is the summary: Region 1 - 0 teams , Region 2 - 1 team, Region 3 - 0 teams, Region 4 - 1 team, Region 5 - 4 teams (loaded), Region 6 - 3 teams, Region 7 - 4 teams (loaded), Region 8 - 0 teams, Region 9 - 0 teams, Region 10 -1 team, Region 11 - 5 teams (no doubt the toughest region), Region 12 - 0 teams, Region 13 - 1 team, Region 14 - 0 teams (weakest region), Region 15- 0 teams, and Region 16 - 0 teams. Seems like only 4 regions (with 3 or more teams in the top 20) are legitimate contenders to make much noise in the state tournament.
  20. Thanks so much - yes you can get live information from this site.
  21. Is there someone who may be at the games or listening to the games who can update scores? Just wondering how the games are going.

  24. If the team follows someone who is a bad leader, it is the coach's responsibilty to do his/her best to find another player on the team who sets a better example. There may not be a player like that, but the coach should try to find one. Unfortunately, players sometimes follow the wrong type player and with girls, they tend to take sides. But the coach should do his/her best to identify the qualities of a good leader, regardless if they are a senior or not, and work with that player to help her become a better leader. Good dialogue from everyone!!!:thumb:
  25. all excellent points. I think it's also good for the coach to identify who has the qualities to be a good leader and then to sit down with that player and explain how you would like them to be the leader. The player however must be willing to accept the role and understand the responsibilities that go with it. Some players do not want the role because they just want to be liked by all their teammates and want to avoid any conflicts. If the player accepts the role, they need to know that the coach will back them up in tough situations.
