Interesting Fact about Top 20 rated teams

Featured Replies

After looking over the Lit-ratings, it was interesting to note how many regions had teams in the top 20. ONE HALF of the regions don't even have a team in the top 20 and region 14 has the lowest #1 team in a region. Here is the summary: Region 1 - 0 teams , Region 2 - 1 team, Region 3 - 0 teams,

Region 4 - 1 team, Region 5 - 4 teams (loaded), Region 6 - 3 teams, Region 7 - 4 teams (loaded), Region 8 - 0 teams, Region 9 - 0 teams, Region 10 -1 team, Region 11 - 5 teams (no doubt the toughest region), Region 12 - 0 teams, Region 13 - 1 team, Region 14 - 0 teams (weakest region), Region 15- 0 teams, and Region 16 - 0 teams.

Seems like only 4 regions (with 3 or more teams in the top 20) are legitimate contenders to make much noise in the state tournament.

Seems like if you live outside of the Lexington and Louisville area you don't have a shot of putting more than 1 team in the top 20. 12 out of the 20 come from those three regions-6th,7th, and 11th.

I would have to agree that all three of those regions are very strong but I also think that the LIT rankings are not a true indication as they place an emphasis on scoring margin as one of their criteria. IMO scoring margin influences these teams to run the score up to better position themselves.

I don't think they run the score for the sake of Lit ratings but even their subs are pretty superior players who would start elsewhere and when they get their turn in a blow out they continue to pour it on. Lit also seems to take into consideration strength of schedule and those Louisville and Lexington powerhouses play very tough schedules.

Anyone can make noise at the state tourney. It doesn't matter what you are ranked. We all love the Cinderella story. Pike Central wasn't even picked to win their region(which is traditionally weak) and they went to the final four to get beat by eventual state champs Lex Christian. The draw happens today at one and it will be very interesting. Don't count those other regions out. MARCH MADNESS is crazy.

Region 12 has a team that is 17-1 in Casey County only lose was in a second game in one day, Lincoln County which was only a 9 point loss to E-Town (Free Throws added to score) Wayne County which is a young team growing. That rating is really not up to par b/c it has Scott County #24 with a 11-12 record so what does that say.:sssh:
