In one of the most anticipated district game this year, Boone County and Ryle faced off at Conner High School. Both teams came out a bit flat as neither team broke double digits after the quarter was over. Boone county was paced by Heather Sandlin with 4 and Ryle had 4 scorers as the score was 9-7 after the first eight minutes.

 

Boone County took their first lead of the game at the 6:52 mark with a Lauren Bowling three pointer. Boone County went on a 5 point run until Abby Jump tied the game with her second three pointer. Bonne County went on an 8 point run to separate themselves from Ryle. Score was 20-12 with 3:30 to go in the half. Morgan McLeish hit a jumper to break the run, but Boone County continued to unload scoring another 6 points with 2 minutes left to increase the lead to 12, 26-14. The half ended with a Katie Behrens stick back at the buzzer to increase the Lady Rebel lead to 14, 28-14.

 

The third quarter was a low scoring affair as both teams again failed to score double digits. Both teams were flat throughout the quarter as they each scored 7 points. Boone county maintained their 14 point advantage with the 35-21 score going into the 4th quarter.

 

The 4th quarter saw more of the same as neither team was able to break the game open. Boone County maintained the 14 point lead when Boone County called a timeout. A couple of Ryle fans were ejected for language. One of those was actually proud of that fact. We’ll talk about that on the show this week. Ryle cut the lead to 11 points with just under 2 minutes to go in the game, but Boone County hit their free throws down the stretch pushing the lead and the game to a 18 point difference. The final, 55-37.

 

Boone County goes to 19-9 and will face Conner in the 33rd District finals on Thursday evening. Ryle finishes their season with a record of 21-7.

Nice to see Boones younger girls putting up some numbers, but Ryle is going to be even tougher in the next few years!!

Good win for Boone. Nell always has her team ready come tournament time. I look for them to win the District.

Looks like they had a packed house minus two at the end? It's great to see people come out and suppport the girls too.

It was not the fan that was using foul language it was Boone 's coach. I had not seen her coach in years, I had to move my young child because he wanted to know why she was using those words. The fan was merely telling her she was doing wrong with the way she talked to her kids. Maybe she needs to move on to the college game, because that is the way both my college coach and my professional coach in Sweden talked. Sometimes the truth hurts and I believe the fan was correct. She was out of control!!!

I'm going to start another thread about this as to not threadjack on this game.

I don't doubt what you heard at all colby because I have heard a lot of the words come out of her mouth during games too but because she the "HOLY NELL", nothing will be done about it. I think players just learn to expect that from her and apparently the parents of the players haven't brought this issue strong enough to the administration. Hey, as long as she wins, apparently she can do NO wrong.

Ryle fans behind the BC bench using foul language directed towards the bench. It pretty sounds as if they were provoking the coaches. She may throw a couple of bombs occasionally, but I tend to lean toward the "unbiased" folks that were there. If the fan language was directed towards her players then it didn't get as ugly as it probably could have.

I was siting about forty or fifty feet away and heard it clearly. It is ashame that she has to revert to such language to coach, but she at least needs to keep it in her huddles and locker room if her parents and administation are good with it. Ithought she had some class until last night.

The NKY HS game report was broadcasting 5-10 feet away and apparently heard it all. There is not one single rival fan thinks coach Fookes has class. Only the people that are closest to her know what she's about.
