  1. After beating Rosehill, I think a lot of people are opening their eyes to Raceland. Although I would love to see them in the finals, I still think NCC has more talent (but hey so did Rosehill). My prediction would be NCC and LCA in the finals. And I do believe LCA already played NCC and handled them pretty easily. But as we all know, you need to be healthy, lucky, and have the ball bounce your way a few times to have a shot at winning. Best of luck to the Lady Rams. And who knows, we might even see Raceland in the Sweet 16 too. Not too far of a stretch after what they have accomplished thus far.
  2. From the score, it looked like it might have been a good game but from what was posted, it appears as if Mason Co. wasup THIRTY POINTS going into the 4th? It wasn't close at all then. I guess Brossart is still reeling from their upset from Paris in the All 'A' Regional. Brossart may have another opportunity to play them in the regional because BOTH teams will make it for sure.
  3. I would have to go with Lex. Christian too but what about Lou. Christian Academy? The All 'A' tournament teams seems to be down from past years. When Jackson Co., Clinton Co., Somerset, Hazard, and Brossart, there was A LOT of teams who had a good chance of getting to the Sweet 16 and doing well. But I still think the All 'A' is a great thing for small schools.
  4. any additional info on this game? It was Brossart's tournament to lose and it appears as if they did not play up to their potential. Hats off to Paris for pulling off the upset.
  5. I have to agree with Option Right about his/her opinion on which Paris teams shows up. They have play brilliant at times and then very poorly at others. As far as BSH saying "Paris is the defending champs and will get a lot of calls." Sounds like BSH is already setting himself up to make excuses if Brossart should lose. Paris is going to get calls just because they won last year? I think not. It is Brossart's tournament to lose.
  6. wow bigsnortinghorse, you must just be a wizard knowing so much. And as far as Simon Kenton? I know they are in the 8th but when i looked on the KHSAA site for teams Brossart had left on their schedule, I was looking at teams they had to play that would give them a good game. I guess you just didn't read my post close enough. Oh. and i saw that Brossart "dominated" Lloyd - is beating them by 12 points dominating?
  7. Man, if NCC doesn't walk through this region, something is really really wrong. Sure Ludlow is pretty good but they should not be able to hang with NCC with all the talent they have. It is NCC's tournament to lose. But this may be Ludlow's best shot at ever winning any ALL 'A'. Ludlow's weak schedule however will be their downfall. They can't hang with the big boys.
  8. I have to disagree with your thinking. The true test of a team is "Can they beat teams who they are not supposed to beat?" Brossart has yet to pass that test. And as far as the post season. Brossart should have a walk-through in the district and should have two very easy games in the regional, unless they draw in the same bracket and Montgomery or Mason Co. I think they still have to play Mason Co. and I believe a pretty good Simon Kenton team but otherwise there isn't much else on the schedule. Time will tell if they are pretenders or contenders. As far as Montgomery and Brossart having the two best coaches in the region? Well, I think you can put High there for all his done in his carrer but to put Brossart's coach there after a year and a half coaching - wow I think you are giving much more credit than credit is due. Don't think Brossart's coach is even close to having that honor. Guess you know something the rest of us don't.
  9. No doubt Brossart is good and has done well so far, but who have they beaten that they were not expected to beat? The true test of this team will be when they play a team ranked above them. So far, the two teams who were ranked above them, Moore and NCC, beat them. Let's see how they do against Mason Co. They are expected to win the ALL 'A' and it would be a big disappointment if they lost to Paris.
  10. I guess it's obvious who makes the decisions in your family. Does she always get what she wants if she asks for it? There's nothing wrong with being successful, but those who take what they have and make the best out of it are the ones who are really successful. But as a parent, I can understand you want the best for your child and are willing to do whatever it takes to make her happy. And I commend you for moving into the district before she started at Boone instead of transferring. Many don't even do that. As long as you can live with your decision, I guess that's all that matters. Best of luck to you and your daughter. I hope in the future you will still be glad you made the move because there have been some who have been very disappointed.
  11. Well by now it is quite obvious that athletics are No. #1 on a lot of parents minds and not an education or that their daughter (heaven forbid) might not be playing for the #1 team in the region. I have seen way too often parents sending the wrong messages to their children by "jumping ship" and heading to a program like Boone just so their daughter gets to be on the favorite. 3-pointer, if you were so sure that you wanted your daughter to go to Boone, why didn 't you move "to be closer to your job" and enter your daughter as a freshman. As long as these transfers continue to happen, it will be difficult to compete with those "un-recruiters". I admire the teams that succeed with the players they start off with as freshman. Those coaches can truly be proud of their programs, knowing they have done it without any stars transferring in. I can't help but cheer for those teams.
  12. Just one of MANY transfers that gives Boone the advantage. Let me see, they have transferred from Conner, Simon Kenton, Dixie, Ryle, and now Holy Cross. I might have missed a few others but when you have top players tranferring to Boone, it makes the playing field just a bit more lopsided. Guess the wheel at Boone will keep on turning. The only thing in question at this point is who will transfer next year.
  13. All too often that is the case. All you have to do is make a parent or two mad and if the AD or Administration is a "people pleaser", then the coach will be gone. I think Murphy did a fantastic job with LCA and is was apparent in the wins she produced. She is nothing short of one of the best coaches (and more importantly) best people you could ever meet. Politics - all too often get in the way of coaching. No matter how you slice it, unless you can make EVERYONE happy, you can find your coaching career cut short. Best of luck to Murphy. Some program will be lucky to have her.
  14. 1st round E'town Letcher LexCath Henderson Montgomery Franklin-Simpson Iroquios Rose Hill 2nd round E'town LexCath Franklin-Simpson Iroquios 3rd round LexCath Franklin Simpson Finals LexCath (who else is there?) 111 pts
  15. ahhhh, have to say you are wrong there buddy. Smith from Dixie, top player from Ryle (can't remember her name), Stephanopolous from Highlands, . . . . . and would have to go back to get the names of the others but anyone who knows Boone is WELL AWARE of the players that transfer in. Sure, they move into the district, but have played varsity in other programs. I would expect that trend to continue unless KHSAA puts its foot down.
  16. Give credit where credit is due so Fookes has done an excellent job at Boone, but there are other teams that would have also been better if they had gotten the top players from other programs like Fookes has. I know she has gotten players from Dixie, Conner, Simon Kenton, Ryle, St. Henry, and Highlands. There may be some I am not aware of but those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I would think other coaches might have done better if they had gotten some of those players. The KHSAA proposition may put a stop to those transfers and Boone may then have to play with only the players in their district. Is Fookes a good coach? No doubt, but having top players from other programs transfer in sure makes it a lot easier.
  17. As much as I truly hate to second guess coaches, I have to completely agree with mcpapa. I watched that game last year and I automaticly thought that the best thing to do was to foul Montgomery and make them go to the line and make a decision if they were going to make the first and miss the second on purpose or make both and try for the steal. But the fact is, they could have missed their first FT and that would have been it. Fouling was a no-brainer but didn't happen. I am sure if Mason Co's coach had to do it all over again, she would choose something different. Who knows, she may get a second chance.
  18. I just want to state for the record that I have a great respect for Jim. He is a class act and is a very good coach. But as politics normally go, when someone wants you out (whether it's parents or an administrator who you don't see eye to eye with) you have little chance of surviving. I wish Jim the best wherever he lands and Somerset just lost a class coach and person. I know he'll take his skills somewhere else and be successful.
  19. i'd have to agree with laddiesbbcoach; although Paris is more than capable of beating Harrison Co., I think Harrison Co. has been playing better towards the end of the season. Brossart basically gets a bye vs. Augusta and walks into the semi's but I don't think Brossart will beat Harrison Co. like they did last year in the first round of the regional. I see Harrison Co. and Montgomery Co. in the finals with Montgomery Co. pulling out a 56-51 win.
  20. I guess you'll be pulling for Ludlow . . oops, forgot that they didn't make it to the regional. I know you hated to see either of these teams make it to the regional much less pull for either one, but the fact is they're both there. I do give Ludlow credit, they had a great season and believe it or not, I would have liked to see them in the regional, but it's tough to handle the pressure of the district tournament when they haven't played those type of teams on a regular basis. Not that it was their fault either, they had to play their conference schedule, but they may have faired better playing tougher teams outside their conference. Better luck next year BIGZIG
  21. Oldguy, I guess you just refuse to give Holy Cross any credit; you MUST be a ND supporter or parent of a player. How you can blame the referees or the place they played is beyond me. My goodness, if ND couldn't put Holy Cross away after being up 18 with 4 minutes to go, don't you think ND has to take some of the blame? Face it, ND just feel apart and Holy Cross came to life. Take your medicene and move on. Congrats again to Holy Cross!!!! They EARNED the win; it wasn't given to them by the refs.
  22. I guess you'll have to reevaluate your thoughts after Holy Cross beat ND on OT. and WITHOUT the services of Rachel Lantry in the OT since she fouled out in regulation. Down by 19 POINTS going into the 4th quarter, Holy Cross showed its true spirit by never giving up. They were outsized, outnumbered, and didn't have as much talent as ND, but somebody forgot to tell them. I think David slew Goliath tonight and Goliath had no idea what hit him. I'm sure Boone Co. feels about the same way that ND feels tonight - SHOCKED! Congrats to Holy Cross for believing in themselves even when the game was all but decided after three quarters.:jump:
  23. Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't NCC boys win the All 'A' Classic State Tournament in 2000?
