  1. A bit of both. I know he has a daughter who is going to be a freshman at Brossart and plays basketball. A good friend of mine said he wanted to watch her play for the next 4 years. But Silver Grove also wanted to have a coach in the building (which is understandable), so from what I've read on here, I guess that's going to be Bev Smith. Can't see the program headed into a positive direction with her at the helm, but I guess time will tell. I know from what I've been told by those in the know, that the players really like Coach Kues and didn't want him to leave.
  2. He was the one after Tom Kramer and before Sclarman. Would rather not state his name because I don't know all the facts; just what people were saying.
  3. That frosh coach who wound up winning a ton of games - wasn't he let go at Brossart? Apparently if the administration took away his coaching position, they must have had a good reason. Could be that the coach in question just had good talent and had little to do with good coaching. Where is that coach now? I am assuming he went on to bigger and better coaching positions since he was so successful. Can't believe Brossart would let him go if he was so successful. But from what we've seen with the girls program, apparently there are some poor decisions made.
  4. Well then why was she let go? And why would Silver Grove want to take on that baggage? From what I have been told, it is common knowledge why she was let go, but this in not the format to reveal that information. Hopefully if they hire her, she will be able continue where Coach Kues left off. The girls in the program deserve that much after coming from nowhere to develop into a very respectable team.
  5. Getting a coach might be a good place to start.
  6. If there are no teaching position available, they will have to hire another para-professional with no one on the faculty on the coaching staff. Not the best situation for all concerned, but the administration does not seem to have any one on staff that wants (or will be considered) for the position.
  7. After talking to a couple of the players on the team, I know he plans on coming back. As far as the teacher who is wanted for the job? I would guess it is someone who coached previously at another school but was let go. And the community member? No idea at all. Maybe you have better information. But the players seemed to be pretty happy with Kues as their coach so not sure why there would be a change unless he decided to leave.

  9. It appears as if Montgomery Co., regardless of the draw, will have a fairly easy first round game. I doubt that Campbell Co., St. Pat's, or Harrison Co. wants to play Clark Co. in the first round. And it would appear that Deming will likely fall in the first round regardless of who they play. But have to wait and see how it all draws out.
  10. As usual it will likely be another year of mass exodus of girls coaches. There is a variety of reasons but many times I have seen the administration not support coaches of girls teams like they support coaches of boys teams. Normally I think about 25% or so girls coaches get out after each season.
  11. Have to question Ludlow's coach getting on the ref at the end and getting a technical when he could have just let it go in O.T. But I can see him stepping out on the floor and getting one. Probably didn't give the ref a choice except to T him up. Congrats to Dayton.

  13. I knew they had to play the DIII schools twice but I was just eluding to the fact that it didn't help them prepare for bigger schools. Playing the larger schools (and only beating Dixie) showed they are a competitive with the larger schools but still not on the level where they can beat them and this team may be the last team in a while to do so. As far as Calvary - they should have played a varsity schedule because they had plenty of players and would have been competitive with most DIII schools. IMO, they took the easy road out.
  14. How many seniors do they have they really matter for the team? Is their "dynasty" on the fringe of ending? And if that happens will Stamm jump ship or will we find out how good of a coach is really is when coaching less talent? They dominate Div. III schools but they haven't been able to go up one more level and beat Div. II or Div. I schools. Playing the weaker schedule doesn't help them prepare for the tougher opponents.
  15. I think after being up by so many points going into the 4th quarter, there should be a mercy rule. Coaches should not be allowed to press in the 4th quarter when they are up by 30+ points. And if it gets under 30 and the coach is worried the team will make up 30 points in 8 minutes, then allow him/her to put their starters back in until they get it over 30 again. There are some coaches who have NO class whatsover and they could care less if they are embarasses the players, they just want to run the score up because they know they can. I'd love to see a ref give a coach a technical in the 4th, up by 30+, if the coach questions any call at all. But hey, that's just my opinion. In post season though, all bets are off. No coach wants to take a chance of losing in post season but he/she have enough discretion to know he/she is going to win when they are up by 30+ going into the 4th.
  16. I think Coach Sorrell is doing a very good job and has the knowledge to improve the program - he just has to be given more than just one season to prove it. As someone who has been to a few of his games, I think he is on the right track. You can't expect miraculous transformations over night. He is definitely better than what they had in the past.
  17. Almost was going to correct you about the top seed because I thought they were still in with Boone and that group but now I faguely remember them being moved to Dixie's district. Great move for St. Henry and a much better chance of being in the regional. So, in that district, is there St. Henry, Lloyd, Villa, and Ludlow and Dixie? So, will St. Henry then play the winner of Lloyd and Villa? And in the other bracket is it Ludlow vs Dixie?

  19. Good point - and likely to be true. Who are some of the other brother coaching combinations in northern Kentucky. I know the Trame brothers (and one still coaches) are a duo. Any others? And are there any sister combinations?

  21. What the heck happened to hospitality as in hospitality room for the tournament? Someone told me it was pitiful and all they had were a few cookies and fruit. Not that you have to have a buffet like Golden Corral but what a sad state where you offer a few cookies and fruit. Maybe they are just trying to help us watch our weight.

  23. Sorry but Scott cannot play with Montgomery Co. To even have a shot at them they have to be in the finals of their district. Right now I think Campbell Co. is in the drivers seat after beating Brossart. The top seed for the district will most likely be between Scott and Campbell Co. Whoever wins that game is likely to beat Silver Grove (4th seed) and move onto the regional. Either Brossart will play Scott in the district or Scott will play Campbell depending on what happens in the Campbell vs Scott game and the Brossart vs Scott game. Have to go with Campbell and Scott in the finals at this point while Brossart and Silver Grove sit home.
