  1. Well if he doesn't represent what Bishop Brossart is all about then why would Brossart hire him back? And who is dissatified with him? Apparently assistant coaches are not very pleased. What about the parents, players, administration? If appears that the Athletic Director felt he needed to announce the return of Reinhart for some reason which means he must be satisfied with his behavior and coaching. There must be more to this than people are willing to reveal here. But if Reinhardt is using profanity (and it doesn't matter if it's a practice, in the locker room, or on the field), I would think that Brossart would take a stand on this and not accept it as something they want associated with their school. Of course, it's the administration that makes the final say on coaches being let go or rehired, so apparently it must not be much of an issue in their eyes. I guess more information is to come.
  2. It may have been Coach Brays choice but the AD had already told some soccer players three weeks before the season ended that the team was going to get a whole new coaching staff next season (and Coach Bray had no knowledge of the AD giving that information & had not at that point decided to resign). Now you tell me, how professional of a move was that by the AD? Can't blame Coach Bray for leaving - little support from parents and NO support from the AD.
  3. You hit the nail right on the head with that one UKFAN4EVER and don't expect anything to change anytime soon as long as that AD is there. It's a obvious pattern that follows the person supposively in charge.
  4. He may have won his Division (II), but Coach of the Year should go to the coach who produced the most out of his/her team. So, as far as Coach of the Year for his diivsion - I guess that's a possibility, but certainly not for northern Ky. His team lost to Walton in the All 'A' and then in the last couple weeks of the season lost to Conner, and Scott in the district finals (which they have beaten 9-0 earlier in the season) and then lost in the first round of the regional. Certainly not a steller finish for a team that was ranked #1 in northern Ky. by the coaches throughout most of the season.
  5. Too bad there isn't an "official" score keeper (not anyone associated with either team playing) who could keep stats. It is quite obvious that some coaches (and we're talking coaches of top teams), greatly inflate their stats. The coach knows it, the players know it, and quite a few parents are well aware of it. I assume that they just want their players to look better and thus make themselves look better. Those involved in softball are more than aware of who those coaches are - they're not fooling anyone; just makes them look bad.
  6. Top 5 coaches? You only listed 4 teams!!! But even so, I have to wholeheartedly disagree that those are the "top 5 coaches." There is one in that bunch that the assistant coach does all the coaching and makes all the decisions. And yes, I have watched some softball.
  7. Hummm Riverdog - Wasn't it you who first brought to light that it was Patty's hubby that was the brians of the team? Me smells a hypocrite. Just piggy-backing about what you said about Ryle and I didn't even name the team where the asst. coach makes all the decisions. Yes, congrats to Miller - she deserved it. But don't start backtracking and stating things about my comments since you were the one who started it. Enough said.
  8. I'm sure he does do a lot but I would guess Patty has her own strong points when coaching. There is at least one other good team that I am aware of where the assistant coach is the brains of the team and does all the coaching while the head coach sits back and takes the credit. Up to you to figure out what team that is but pretty obvious if you have watched them play.
  9. And congrats to Patty Oliveria for being chosen as Cincinnati Enquirer Coach of the Year. Without question, one of the best (if not the best) softball coach in Northern Kentucky. She accomplished more with her team than any team in the area.
  10. They seemed to improving every year and even though they played some weaker teams they still managed to win about 8 or 9 games two seasons ago. Then last season, according to the KHSAA site, they only beat Cov. Latin and Eminence. What happened? They had nearly everyone back I think and a year under their belt. I know Miller was out for a while but I expected them to beat more than two teams. It seems like they took a step backward instead of a step forward. Hopefully it all meshes next season because it's Miller's last season. However, not sure they should be playing the Campbell's, etc. Take the last seed in the district and play some teams that would help down the road.
  11. She's a heck of a player but she'll need help from her teammates because otherwise she'll just get frustrated. As good of a player as she is, she is even a better person. You won't find anyone with the moral character of this young woman. She is heads above the rest and very smart too. More likely to get an academic scholarship than athletic scholarship and will be succesful in whaterver path she chooses.
  12. sure, it's ideal to have a certified teacher as a coach, but there are many schools that have coaches who are not certified teachers and even schools who have certified teachers who do not even teach at that particular school as their coach. Best situation all around --- certified teacher who teaches at the school where they coach.
  13. I guess I was wrong then, but I thought if you were out of district you had to pay a higher tuition. So, if you lived in Cold Spring and wanted to go to Notre Dame or CovCath, your tuition wouldn't be any higher? I think Brossart once dropped (and maybe it's still true today) the increase in tuition back in the 80's if you were at St. Joes's because NCC enrollment was very low. But now that enrollment is back up, not sure if the increase is still waived.
  14. NCC and Brossart do not have a common feeder school. St. Joe's is a feeder school for Brossart, NOT NCC. However, if you go to St. Joe's and want to go to NCC, you can, but you have to pay out of district tuition. So for clarification purposes, St. Joe's is in Brossart's district.
  15. Coach Dawn and Coach Fookes were co-coaches of the year for the 9th region. Coach Dawn is picking up his in the pic. Coach Fookes was busy preparing her team for the game vs Scott Co., thus informed the KABC that she would not be there to pick up her award. Both were deserving after the seasons they had.
  16. Miss Basketball is voted on before the regional tournament so although it might be fun guessing at this point, it has already been decided but will not be announced until the beginning of April. IMO, that's the way it should be because if one candidate for Ms. Basketball doesn't make it to BG yet another one does, it wouldn't be fair. Plus it should be voted on for the season not post season. So, guess away.
  17. Face it, IF Ryle had not "lost" a certain player to a certain team, they would have certainly been the overall favorite to win the region. In fact, if they had lost that player and that player was not allowed to play this season because of transferring, Ryle would have likely won. I cheer for the teams who have the players they're supposed to have and not players from other programs. I am not putting blame on any particular person, but this is high school basketball and you should play with the athletes within your system and not with ones who decide they want to get "drafted" to another program because they want to be a more visible star player. Just my opinion - I know there are a lot of nay-sayers out there and I respectively just disagree with your viewpoint as you do with mine.
  18. So it begs the question - "Would Fookes have won any of the other regionals without the transfers?" Well, I feel pretty sure she wouldn't have done it this year without Moss. In fact, not sure she would have even made it to the regional without her. Transfers like Moss make you look like a better coach than you are.
  19. As we have seen in so many instances, "it's all about winning and by any means." If it means getting players transferring from other schools, allowing players to break rules and still play, or any other number of things, it all comes down to winning. I applaud those coaches who do the right thing, play with the players in their program, and instill life lessons to their players. It doesn't mean they will always win the "big one", but hopefully they get respect by those who understand what we are trying to teach these kids.
  20. yeah I have to echo that they have had all-tournament region teams after the tournament was over and it was just for those who played in the tournament. Haven't been to a regional for quite a while so I can't speak to when the last time they had an all-tournament team.
  21. I know back in the 90's they didn't have an all-tournament team either and then the 10th Region Girls Coaches Association was started in 1998 and from that point on they not only had a regional all-tournament team but they also started an overall 1st, 2nd, and Honorable-Mention teams for the region. And since developed a banquet for the players and a Hall of Fame. Hopefully, we have no regressed back to not honoring those who perform well in the tournament.
  22. I think a lot of teams would've won "this or that" if one or more of there players had not gotten injured but that's just part of basketball. I give a lot of credit to Clark Co. and I don't even know anyone who coaches or plays for them. Got to just come to the realization that things don't always go the way you want to.
  23. Michelle Cottrell (sp?) is only one of the best players to come out of the Boone Co. girls basketball program and then #1 player in the history of NKU womens basketball and led the NKU womens team to a National Title. If I'm not incorrect, I believe she got Division II National Player of the Year when she was a senior at NKU. Who wouldn't want Cottrell as their head coach? But I have no idea if she is interested.
