  3. Actually trainride, you are wrong. St. Joe's Cold Spring is NOT a feeder school for NCC; it is a feeder school for Brossart. It is in Brossart's district and has always been a feeder school for them. The students from St. Joe's who go to NCC are NOT in NCC's district but can attend NCC without any penalty because many years ago Brossart's administration decided not to charge students any penalties for going to NCC. It has seemed to backfire at this point because the cost for tuition now is the same whether they go to NCC or Brossart.
  4. All those on the list are legit. Sanker just might be one of the top 10 but at this point it really doesn't matter. It's what she'll be able to do for her team. Not even sure if Brossart should be listed as the 5th best team either. Time will tell.
  5. still not clear on why Bellevue's coach last year was let go. There was a lot of hush hush but no definitive answer. Any insights without giving too much information?
  6. good back and forth responses - fun to read. I think the KHSAA has classification for a reason if I'm not incorrect. AAA schools SHOULD be able to beat A schools - no matter what sport it is. It is a compliment to small schools when they beat larger schools. Both Brossart and St. Henry could win the AA state championship too if they ran in it. Conner should compare themselves to the best AAA schools in the state - that's why they run in the AAA state meet and not the A state meet. Mind you, Conner does have a good program, but will not be able to run with the Trinity's and St. X's - so on the AAA level - they are just decent. And didn't Brossart beat them in the Grant Co. Inv. last year? Didn't see Brossart posting on here how they were better than Conner. Sometimes it's just nice to be humble. Good luck at state Conner. I really do hope you run well. You represent the area very well and should be proud of your program.
  7. It doesn't hurt that she normally gets the top player from other programs nearly every season. Let's see - they've come from Conner, Highlands, Dixie, Ryle, Simon Kenton . . . . probably missed a few. She wins the award for having the most transfers from the most schools.
  8. I know many regions have already drawn - it was actually done last spring so I was wondering if anyone knew where you could find those pairings. I understand that other regions don't draw until the season starts or until they play other teams so they can seed.
  9. Trying to find the pairing but the All 'A' sight only has the results from last season and not the new pairings. Anyone know where I could get them?
  10. could someone list what teams the top 10 players play for? I know some of them but not all of them and add any other players whom you think might have been left off the list. thanks all.
  11. thanks Sweet 16, I felt like I had a good handle on it. And adding to that ... when you have an administration who just wants to make the parents "happy" (which we all know never last for long), and doesn't support the coach, then the coach has no chance at all. We have seen it all too often where the coach has the discipline, knowledge, and success to back them up, but the administration caves in to the complaining, whining, money-power, influential . . . . . . well I think you get the idea . . . . . parents. Sad, sad, state of affairs. We have lost some very good coaches because of it.
  12. I believe it's because parents meddle more in girls basketball than boys basketball. Mom and Dad are the first to think and/say - "How dare that coach treat my little girl that way." Whereas, if it were a guy, the thought would be - "Get tougher kid and handle it." Parents of girl basketball players cause so many more problems but much of it also has to do with the players. Girls tend to gossip more, complain more, and tell their parents more than boys do and that all tends to cause problems. Don't see the turnover rate slowing down anytime soon. If the parents would just let them play and try to have the same attitude that they have with their sons, things would be so much better. But . ........ that's only one person's opinion. I could be completely wrong.
  13. Just another normal screw up by the administration. They have handled many other ahtletic decisions very poorly too so I'm not too surprised they screwed this up too. They are only hurting the school and makling it look like a second rate school. Time for them to go is long overdue. Hopefully changes in the future will put Brossart back on the right track.
  14. I could see why Coach Brooks might go over "to the dark side." The district would be much easier than what he has to face now and getting into the regional is the goal of all coaches. Time will tell if he plans the jump. Also I'm sure the Asst. Coach at Campbell is biting at the bit to get a head coaching job. I think he's prefer to get it at Campbell but don't see Cravens leaving unless he is forced to.
  15. Just look around the state in past years - this kind of behavior is not that uncommon. There have been quite a few good coaches around the state who did not bow to parents but were backstabbed by the administration. This is just another one of those cases but unfortunately we'll continue to see more of it. When will an administration grow a couple big coconuts and support a coach who has done nothing wrong? Would love to hear some of those stories.
  16. Most likely just another example of an administration BOWING to the wants of a few disgruntled parents whose daughter didn't get the playing time or recognition that they felt like their superstart daughter should have gotten. Most parents just wear blinders and only see one thing - their daughter!
  17. Just because Han left when the "talent was low" should in no way reflect the choices he has made to better his coaching career or family. He had a great opportunity to go to LexCath and would have gone regardless of the talent level at St. Henry. And who could blame him for coming back to northern Ky. after having to drive to Lexington every day. Just a simple solution to the drive, gas prices, and time on the road. Smart move in my opinion.
  18. If you've been around coaching for a while then you know all the unfairness that happens to coaches and the lack of a backbone that administrators have when it comes to parents. Seldom have I met a principal, AD, or other administrator who is willing to step up to the plate for a coach who has done nothing wrong but parents are breathing down their neck because they didn't get what they thought they should get for their daughter. And I see no change in the future. They all bow to the almighty cries of parents. For once I would like to hear that a principal or AD told parents to just shut up and if they didn't like it, to take their STAR daughter somewhere else. Still waiting for that to happen.
  19. What happened to the coach from last year?
  20. Don't know anything at all about the situation at Bracken Co. but I can speak on the administration viewpoint. I have seen it WAY TOO MANY TIMES that the administration does not support the coach when they are trying to improve the program. They listen to complaining parents, players who quit the team, and other in "power." But to have a backbone and treat the coach with respect - that seldom happens. I have little (oppps, let me recount that - NO ) respect for an administration who does not work with a coach or allow the coach their input into the program. If what on here is true about the administration, I cannot say I am at all surprised. They normally just sweep the problems under the rug and move on with no consideration about how it affect the coach. Shame on Bracken Co. administration if it is true. I would NOT coach there.
  21. Without question it should be used but only under specific guidelines. Definitely should be used at the end of a game when it determines who wins. What a shame for a team to lose a state championship because of an error on the officials on a last second shot. I can see it being used also to determine a 3pt.shot controversy if it impacts the game in the last minute of the game. I am in favor of it but only towards the end of a game. If it was used throughout the game, it would take too long to complete the game.
  22. I have to agree with the majority about the coach NOT picking player(s) from their team for all-tournament. Although I do think there should be an all-tournament team due to the fact that you may have a player who is not your star player but plays well in the tournament and gets recognized when normally she has had to take a back seat to the star or stars on the team. As far as how they are chosen? I don't have a slam-dunk on that one but maybe a selected few are chosen to watch all the games and then make the decision on the all-tournament team. There is no reason to let others know who is on the committee but just that there is one. And for those who get upset - get over with it - that's the way life is - you don't always get what you want and life is inherently unfair at times.
  23. Actually I think they lost in the semifinals of the region that year and then Dixie lost to Holmes in the finals. Does anyone else remember it that way?
  24. Let's hear it for the cry babies who are always screaming "private schools should have their own state tournament."
  25. first round Manuel Rowan Co. Bulter Ohio Co. Henderson Co. E'Town Franklin-Simpson Montgomery Co. Second Round Manuel Butler E'Town Franklin-Simpson Third Round Manuel Franklin-Simpson Finals Manuel T.B. - 76 pts.
