Speaking of Daves, who was the head coach at CCH when they launched their youth program - because quite frankly, I am getting my years mixed up on those two? Wouldn't be a bad idea to give them a call regardless. And I know Dale Zdolchek, Ted Edgington, and Bob Morris all played a big hand in that as well.

Unless, Scott poses the “how bored are you, we’ll certainly change that” question. Have to be a salesman this time around, might as well start with a whale!

Hats off to Steve for stepping in. A lose lose for everyone but a great guy to rally the troops. Is Noel still coaching down at Holmes? Scott v. Holmes, Pick your poison, unfortunately. All comes down to if Noel still has that itch.

Agree on your HC thoughts. Gotta be someone who has been there before to help lift the program off the ground. My only other questions which could possibly change my opinion on whether they go experienced vs, new up & comer is who is their admin and are there any football ties or experience there? And who is on the committee. If those are full of former coaches or serious ties, then I’m less worried if I’m St. Henry going after a younger guy. Now the problem remains, you’re selling a dream while telling an experienced varsity head coach they a) aren’t going to be actually coaching for at least a season or b) you are going to be coaching middle school and JV football for at least a season. I believe for those reasons, it’s going to be a harder fill than people think.

My NKY Thoughts: Woody McMillen - Ludlow - 1st year as HC and brings the Panthers their first district championship since 1975! Eddie Eviston- CovCath - 9-0 (and going to go ahead and call them 10-0 after this evening) defeating potentially 2 state championship teams in Highlands and Beechwood. Avenging their HHS loss from last year. Jay Volker - Beechwood - No one wants to be the guy after The Guy. But Jay has come in and picked up right where Noel Rash left off. Two guys that deserve some sort of an award/recognition : Steve Hensley - Scott - Taking over a program with just a couple weeks before the season started, a spot no one wants to be in. Ben Nevels - Holmes - When you see your numbers decreasing, and have gone through the wringer of an 0-9 season, yet he continues to show up to work everyday and pour into those kids at arguably the hardest job in northern Ky.

When did they bring back the true freshman championship game or better yet, when was the last one played? Or have I been under a rock and it has always been in place and I was unaware because CovCath wasn’t in it? Hope this is streamed! Will be out of town for work but would love to tune in at the hotel!

This should be no surprise, Engler once again underperforms and wastes talent. Year in and year out, and I’ll sing it to the mountain tops. No reason Ryle shouldn’t dominate NKY year in and year out.

I’m sure the Colonels are very happy where they are at. Again, Birds win a 5A state championship this year and Benke is ball player. Just enjoying the ups and downs and the hot and cold comments and attitude of Fort Thomas lately.

Best team in NKY is a comical statement. To be the man, you have to beat the man. But whatever helps you Birds fans sleep at night! Highlands will win a 5A state championship this year, but year in and year out, are still trying to figure out how to beat a team over in Park Hills since an Eviston took over.

But, but, but, Highlands had Michael Mayer 2.0?! Benke is a heck of a ball player. It’s a shame he has an OC who is not ready to be an OC.
