Mason County's offense, led by senior quarterback Keshaun Thomas, has averaged 324 total offensive yards (212 passing/112 rushing) this season, and they've averaged an impressive 426 yards of offense against district competition. The Royals defense, led in tackles by their linebacking corps of MeCaiyon Jackson (50), Colton Kinney (45), and Izley Morales (43), has held their opponents to 239 yards of offense this year, and has only allowed an average of 139 yards of offense in their district games. Mason County has rolled out an air assault game this season, with 65% of their offensive yards gained in the air. The defense has been an absolute turnover machine, forcing an impressive 19 turnovers this season on 6 forced fumbles and 13 interceptions.

Covington Catholic will be heading down the AA Highway with an undefeated 8-0 record this season, and their own 3-0 record in 4A District 5. The Colonel offense is a balanced 52% pass, 48% run and is led by senior captain Evan Pitzer behind center. Cov Cath's offense has rolled up an average of 405 total offensive yards this season, and they've averaged 442 yards per game within the district. Pitzer has proven that his arms and legs are both serious weapons this year with an average 17 yards per pass completion, and by leading the team in rushing this season. Pitzer's 71.9% passing percentage puts him at 2nd place in 4A and at 6th place in the state for passers with more than 20 attempts this season. Senior TE/LB Willie Rodriguez has averaged 20 yards per catch this year with 13 receptions in six games played, and with 6 touchdown receptions, he's tallying nearly a 1 : 2 touchdown-to-catch ration. On defense, the Colonels are led in solo tackles by junior linebacker Tate Kruer (49), and are led in sacks by senior defensive lineman Ben Reeves (5). Cov Cath's D has been averaging 1.5 turnovers per game, with 5 recovered fumbles (4 forced) and 7 interceptions.

This one looks very interesting on paper. Any Royals fan input would be nice. We all knew Coach Wynn could get the job done but this will be a tall task, unless they’re doing something no one in NKY knows about.

The common opponents suggest this could be a competitive game. I just don't see it.

There's 3 options for dinner if you're in Maysville. DeSha's is fine, but I think it's over rated. Chandlers on Market Street is FANTASTIC. That's the go to.

If you're looking for a little quicker/cheaper, Pasquales is the spot.

That’s where CWB’s is coming from; all he has to to is say the word and I’ll drive the scooter over  to Fleaburg and get him taken care of.  To many this may border on blasphemy, but their transparent pies are as good or better than Magee’s.  And a bargain at nine bucks. 

Mason lost a lot Seniors from last year's strong team and also moved up in class.  But, Coach Wynn has our young team progressing nicely.  The first loss to Russell is explainable since a valued and loved player on the team lost his life in a car accident a just a few weeks before, which was very hard on the team and community.  I don't understand the Boyd County loss.  We are looking forward to hosting Cov Cath for the first time with their great tradition and reputation.  Not likely to win, but I believe Mason will show up strong.

For dinner, I would recommend DeShas, Tumbleweed, Mi Camino Real, or Pasquales, all are excellent in their own way and close to the field.
