They have a good youth program with lots of enthusiasm and pride with good numbers. I hope BC goes out and gets a program builder in it for the long haul and not a “stepping stone”coach. They have the kids and facilities, they just need the coaching and the buy in.

Raceland is good. They beat "the King" of 1A earlier in the year in a game that was played for pride (as I don't see it did anything for Raceland in the RPI...since they're traveling this week). HARD WORK has some legit points about the fact that Raceland is often portrayed in the same light as Pikeville, NCC, Mayfield, Beechwood, etc. as 1A powers and dynasties...but that is a recent development. Don't get me wrong, Raceland has always been a good 1A football program, but not elite and anyone that would argue differently is a homer. Coach Vanderhoof had a good, hardnosed product. What Coach Salmons has done is awesome and he's created a machine with full community support! But Raceland is not 1A royalty. Not yet. So in this game their advantage, if any, is the personnel they have on the field. Their legacy as a traditional power will not make Sayre back down or back off...and it shouldn't. Raceland travels and Raceland wins, but not because of it's name on the front of the jersey, they win because of the names on the back...this year they have better, seasoned players ready for this moment.

Paris is 1A…Rockcastle is 3A. Right? The fact that they’re “evenly matched” is laughable. The pool they have, the resources they have, the facilities, they have. Just stop. Stop talking. Paris is the better team. That’s the thought going forward.

Scrimmaging at Nicholas County 8/4.

Solid schedule. Should be well prepared for playoffs with the returning roster.

A taste of things to come. couldn't believe the decision by Hazard to kick the FG to tie instead of keep offense on the field for the win. Someone, many who never get to play again, will question that call. Hazard had a better schedule and were ready to play. Hazard was a good team. No head hangs. Raceland is a great team. Not sure they will pose much of a challenge for Pikeville. Tonight was a good measuring stick and the results didn’t suggest they’ll do any better than any other 1A team. But that’s why they play the games.

Insight: Paris played their best game this year against Nicholas County winning 47-40. They played their worst against Brossart and lost soundly a week later. Paris plays hard but they are young. They have a good young coach who coaches them up. None of that matters this week. Raceland is playing on a different level. This game will not be close. And it should not be close if Raceland hopes to compete with Pikeville in the finals.
