Turnover battle and special teams. Best games between these 2 always come down to this. Who coughs the ball up most today? And who has special teams that is on point all night. Couple other things I’ll be watching on the stream are starting field position relative to scoring and who wins the cramping battle aka how many times a trainer has to come to stretch one of their kids.

The “sell out” is misleading when it comes to high school football games. My feeling, especially most HHS v. CovCath games, not much seating left, if any, but they will load up that fence line in the end zones. CovCath does the same thing, are they going to stop selling tickets & turn people away? No, but behind the end zones are jam packed. So I hope you enjoy standing! I’d expect the same thing Friday, lot of people standing along the fence line, just stay away from the big drop off behind the stadium! Second game of the year, miserable heat, 8pm kickoff, we will see how this rivalry will look next couple years.

Upset I missed the Ryle game, but mad at myself I’ll be missing this game as well with the last lake weekend of the year. Does HHS still do their broadcasts? Weird feeling about this one, especially with no district or region implications. Yet, I’m confident no love is lost between these two schools. As my old man used to say, “talk is talk, be better.” Ryle does not play Beechwood’s schedule, and Beechwood does not have Ryle’s kids. Switch Noel Rash and staff to Ryle the last few years, and I guarantee you see a better product of football.

Last post on the matter, as it’s a Beechwood thread, but Ryle has the most talent, not to mention size, in NKY year in and year out. Forget competing in 6A, they will still get throttled by NKY teams, which should never be the case.

Agreed. If you have real SEC offers, you’re not a backup on Varsity, much less the backup on a freshman team.

I’d have to agree. And really, he’s in such a unique position. If he fails, who cares? Not many, if any, could take over and succeed with 3 weeks to take over a program. So the bar is so low. BUT, if he goes out and shocks the district with a game here and a game there. WOW, what a story that would be. He’s got nothing to lose. Go out, coach up them boys up, and you never know what can happen. Regardless, I’ll be rooting for the Eagles!!

I would expect to see Woolf on the DL, not so much OL. If I had to guess, Oline would have to be Jones, Reeves, Sullivan, Mason, and expect to see a lot of Dietz. Have heard Freshman OL has 2 BIG boys that may be seen by the time mid season gets around. Flood was playing TE in their 7on7 I attended.

Focus solely on baseball I believe. Have watched both play, great players, but hate to see them hang up one, to focus on another. Life’s too short, play ‘em all while you can.

This information was passed along to me at Saddle Club, so for whatever that is worth, but yes. If my sequence of events is correct; Harney transfers, shortly after is ruled eligible by KHSAA, then a letter is received, KHSAA rules ineligible, Harney’s go through appeal process, and judge is now reviewing, and Harney’s are awaiting a final decision.

I would have to expect to see Miller, Johnson, Harney (if eligible), and Gaiser in the secondary this year. Talent loaded defensive backfield. If Harney isn’t ruled eligible, the losses of Suwinksi and Reardon hurt a lot worse.

I was told, as of last week, no, with no expectation of a ruling from the judge anytime soon.

This change foils my plans, no updates from me on this one.

Well, as summer comes to a close and football season is finally upon us, thought it would be a good time to check everyone’s bingo cards for this past off season. In my case, all I had was the free space locked up. How’d you do? If your card had the following, you WON! - Frederick Douglass schedules Trinity, St. Xavier, Indianapolis Cathedral, and Hoban (OH). - Noel Rash (Beechwood) retires - Burt Bathiany (LexCath) takes Moeller (OH) job. - Jake Owens (Scott) resigns after 6 months. - Covington Catholic & Highlands District rivalry ends. - Donnie Stoner (DuPont Manual) “temporarily removed” as head coach, followed by much, much more. - Ludlow goes full Eastern Washington, RED field. - Steve Hensley (Scott) is a head coach again. - KHSAA rules a student eligible, then reneges on such ruling. -Some sad adult writes an anonymous letter opening up Pandora’s box. - 44 new hires in KY this off-season. - Boyle County wins the 2023 State Championship at Roy Kidd Stadium, without an OL. - Newports condemned field is not being finished on time (okay, I lied, I had this one.) - NIL is passed for HS Students in KY. - St. Henry moves up Varsity football timeline. - Greenwood, John Hardin, North Hardin, Ludlow, Middlesboro, Franklin-Simpson, Lloyd, Hancock Co., Lawrence Co, all go turfing. This just rip off the iceberg, but safe to say, we were kept busy this off-season. What happened this off season that you didn’t have on your bingo card?
