I know he either grew up in Ludlow or played for Ludlow, so it’s not a foreign land to him. As for experience, he’s clearly done something right to be named a coordinator by Eviston directly out of college and done enough to impress Ludlow’s committee getting an interview. I guess you’d just have to meet the young man to see what quite a few others on here know about him. Not your average 25yo. And, nothing stops him for looking for other jobs, but I’d have to say, the days of coaches being in one spot for 15 years are over. I believe Noel Rash is the last one we’ll see in NKY.

I’m told Woody has applied. Bringing the known names of those getting an interview to McMillen, Shelton, and Pence. From what I’ve read, all 3 totally different.

Certainly ideal, but not always necessary. As mentioned earlier, I hope Ludlow finds their guy. Best coach for them, regardless of in building or out.

Would be interesting to see at 24/25 where he’d rank in state and even the country regarding his age. Certainly would have to be one of the youngest varsity head coaches. Possibly conversation for another thread. But fun to think about.

Interviews start tomorrow. Only 2 names I’ve heard with an interview are Shelton from CovCath and Pence from Cooper. Anyone else hearing any other names? There was a mention of an NCC assistant but no name.

That is typically what you find, but I would have to say schools are now more and more open to paraprofessionals if it’s the right fit on both sides. They should pick the best candidate, regardless of if they are in the building or not.

Yes, as reasons stated through this thread, favorable district, new turf field, small town in the perfect location. Think this is a great opportunity for a “young” and hungry coach looking to build something special.

Agreed. I have no idea if Zack has any head coaching aspirations or even how long he’s been a full time assistant, I do recall seeing a couple times on the bench a couple years back but not everyone. Appeared he was a make it when ya can guy. But if Zack does have head coach aspirations, why not go after it. Like I said, have to start somewhere. Look at John Wooden!

I don't think we disagree. And totally agree that a full rebuild or the setting of a new culture takes 2-3 full seasons. The disadvantage the new coach has is that they've missed off season workouts, missed spring ball, and assuming it takes at least another month until a name is announced, they are going to be diving straigh into summer practices. Hoping they hit the ground running, but will be tough assuming they don't have a staff completely in place yet, then they are at dead period. This first full month for the new coach will be essentially July.

Eh, in the grand scheme of things, it is not too big of a deal, but for a new coach to come in and have to change things up, it is tough for kids to "rid" their old ways. The new coach will have to work quickly and hope the kids at Ludlow buy in quickly.

Did Ludlow have a spring ball this year? With the odd timing of Taphouse "stepping down", I am curious if Ludlow's assistants continued or started spring practice? Does Ludlow even have the numbers to participate in spring ball or are there too many kids in other sports. Continue to be a tall task for whomever takes over the program, as they will be significantly behind the 8 ball, but if they want to do it right, must be willing to sacrifice "success" in this first season to build the type of culture they want to bring to LHS.

Was told last Thursday at the CovCath Stag that Casey Sorrell is stepping down at Holy Cross due recenlty having a baby.
