Last I heard 3 names are still in contention.

Happens all the time. Although, he usually has his right hand man handle those conversations.

He is definitely known for only coaching when it involves one of his boys and then bouncing.

Is Volker a teacher? Curious how they are going to find a spot for him as both Rash and if Goetz is a teacher + plans on staying, in the building. If that’s the case, that tightens the spot for Volker and whoever the new basketball coach will be if not already in the building. Not even considering new guys Volker/ new basketball coach plans on bringing in with a teacher spot. I’m assuming most of the football staff will remain in place.

The funny thing about these two names, I’ve been told that both of them want one of the two to get the job, but was never confirmed that either of them want it themselves lol!

Without any real knowledge of the beechwood staff pecking order, just based off of observations it appeared as Volpenhein was 2nd in command to Goetz. In games I watched, Volpenhein was the first one Erik turned to, was usually sitting in the first chair, and usually the most vocal to the kids outside of Goetz. Again, I could be totally off, just from witnessing a few games.

Was told it’s Ross Hart or Brian Volpenhein’s job if either want it and that regardless of who takes it over between the two, expect to see a majority of the staff stay in place.

Found this. Also some interesting comments from posters mentions Ross Hart’s name back then.

IMO, Looking at Erik’s staff, Ross Hart or Brian Volpenhein would have to be the easy choice, assuming they are interested. If they look to go outside hire, not sure how that shakes out.

And very fitting his last win was an incredible one against Holy Cross!

As I anticipated, Beechwood Head Coach Erik Goetz has resigned and I believe, ultimately retired. Hats off to a great career.

Bingo. Slots were filled due to scheduling rearrangements and agreements from last year. If I had to guess, they will schedule an Ohio team for a scrimmage.
