No he tore his ACL in summer basketball. He's not as athletic as Driver but he's probably more polished as a basketball player.

Driver will 100% be gone. Hager is the one to keep an eye on.

Johnson Central was one of the favorites all season and flexed their muscles at the end as they rolled through the region tournament. They got a tough draw with eventual state champ GRC in the first round, but they hung with them the whole game before GRC pulled away. The good news? Every player that played in the game will be back next season. I think it's JC's region to lose again next season. Martin County will be solid with Keathley returning. There's always shake ups and movement within the 15th year in and year out. What can we expect to see next season in the 15th?

This past year went about how it was expected. It was a two horse race for much of the year with North Laurel and Bell County leading the way. Bell won the first battle, but North Laurel won the war. Coach Valentine caught a lot of slack for not making much noise with Reed Shepherd in the Sweet 16, but since he's been rolling. The Jags won their first game, and had the ball with a chance to win it against St. X. North graduates two of their top three scorers in Mr. Do It All Reece Davidson, and then Jordan Rawlings. They'll undoubtedly take a hit. Bell County graduates their leading scorer Blake Burnett and they lose Cayden Huff, but bring back everyone else, including freshman phenom Braxton Ferguson. They would be my favorite right now. The biggest question right now in the 13th is who will coach Corbin and South Laurel?? There's been talk of Davis to Corbin, and Swords to Corbin. There's been talks of Sizemore to South Laurel. I'm sure if coaches are interchanging within the region, there will be some movement out of players as well. This offseason should be a good one in the 13th. Share your thoughts on what you think it's going to look like.

I was at the JC CC game last year and JC gave them all they wanted but Cash and Gaiser were just too much. I know a lot of 4A teams will be glad to see those two gone!

Going to go on a limb and say this is the year JC knocks off either Highlands or Cov Cath in the second round.

Boyle and Larue was a good one. 1-0 final from Larue. Both starting pitchers were dueling. Once Patterson went out, SO Andrew Holder struggled a little but limited em to one, but the bats never got going. Since then, Boyle has run ruled Washington Co and Southwestern. I would think Boyles the favorites to repeat in the 12th.

Heard mid year that Coach P from Corbin would end up with the girls. So far Corbin girls has came open, now we’ll see if P goes over and Davis lands there.

Their RPI put them on the road third round of playoffs. It factors opponents win percentage the same as their own win percentage.

Getting that Ironton game will be good for Somerset. Outside of that game, the schedule is a little less than desirable.

This will be the nightcap game on Thursday, at 8:30. George Rogers Clark came out on top in the competitive 10th region. They finished the year 29-4, 12-1 in the region, and 8-1 in the district. Their one region and district loss? A game they dropped to Montgomery County by 7 in the district championship. They had defeated Montgomery by 1 in OT prior to that game. They took the long way around in the region, playing Pendleton County first. They beat them by 42. They they had to take on Scott, a game where they won by 28. This set up what everyone figured would be the third and deciding game between Montgomery and GRC. GRC came out ahead, and won the game by 12 and punched their ticket to Rupp. The Cardinals are led by Coach Josh Cook who has done a great job since he's been there. Montez Gay is scoring threat number 1, who puts up 17.1 per game. Ryder Akins adds in 14.8 per game, and Malachi Ashford puts up 10.5 per game. They're GRC's so to speak, big 3. Montez Gay also adds 6.2 boards per game, and Amari Bartelson adds 6.0 RPG. As a team, they shoot 52.6% from the field, 34% from three, and 66.7% from the line. Now enter in Johnson Central, the winners of the super regional in the 15th. They finished the year 28-5, 16-1 in the region, and 7-1 in district. They are winners of 13 straight, and steam rolled through the district and region. Their closest games in the district and region were 13 points. They beat Pikeville by 13 in the region championship, a game where Jr. Guard Austin Slone went off for 31 on 72% from the field, and 9-9 from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles are led by Coach Tommy Mckenzie who is one of the best in the 15th. The Eagles big two are Austin Slone and Brayden Shepherd, two Jr. Guards who average 21.2 and 20.0 per game. They've also added in transfer Ethan Cole later in the year who's played 16 games for JC, and he puts up 10.5 per game. Kyle Rose leads the way in RPG with 9.1, and Austin Slone adds in 7.1 per. As a team, they shoot 51.6% from the field, 41% from three, and 71.6% from the line. This is your typical David vs Goliath matchup. I'm sure not many are going to give JC a shot, and it's going to take all they have to pull it off. Can JC ride the hot hand of Slone and Shepherd and pull this one off, or will GRC flex their muscles and advance to the Elite 8?

Tough to see an avenue for Hazard pulling the upset, but I wouldn't be mad if they did.

Leek is the region POY IMO, and I think he showed why last night. He was the difference maker.

Man that one was a tough loss for the Rebels. I think Coach Todd did a good job year 1. Last couple years watching kids walk off the court they’ve been indifferent. Tonight a lot of crushed kids. Hope Coach Adams knocks off DCA!
