  1. Trinity Christian punches their first ticket ever to the 12th region tournament.
  2. Corbin wins 67-30 over Williamsburg. Harlan County 91-54 over Middlesboro.
  3. I thought I saw on Twitter that Zane Biever was going to IMG for track.
  4. 7-3 at the worst with losses to South Warren, Franklin, and Pulaski. 9-1 at the best with beating PC, and only dropping one between South Warren and Franklin. I believe 7-3.
  5. Week 13: Here’s a breakdown of each district tournament along with a final ranking for the regular season. Good luck and injury free ball to each team! 57th: The 57th district tournament will be held at Martin County. The two semifinal games are on Tuesday at 6:30 and 8:30 and the district championship is on Thursday at 6:30. Martin Co and Paintsville will be the 1-4 matchup. Martin Co beat the tigers by 12 and by 15 in the two games they played this year. Magoffin and Johnson Central are the 2-3 matchup in the second game. Magoffin beat JC by 40 in their first game and by just 8 in the second game. It will be interesting to see if the matchup ends up closer the third game or reverts back to the first game. Martin Co has gone 6-0 against the district in the regular season. 58th: The 58th district tournament will be held at Prestonsburg. The first two games will be Tuesday night. Lawrence County and Prestonsburg will be the first game at 6. Lawrence beat Prestonsburg by 7 and by 17 in their two matchups this season. The second game will be right after the first and this will be between Floyd Central and Betsy Lane. Floyd Central won both games this season by 4 at home and by 9 on the road. The district championship will be Thursday night at 7. If chalk wins out, we’ll have Lawrence Co playing Floyd Central. Lawrence won both games this year against Floyd Central by 5 and by 12. 59th: The 59th district tournament will be held at Pikeville. This is a three team district. The first game is tonight at 8 as Shelby Valley and East Ridge play in the 2-3 matchup. Shelby Valley won both games against East Ridge so far by 6 and by 5. The winner will play Pikeville in the district final Tuesday night at 8. Pikeville blew out both teams in the four games they played this year. I believe Pikeville will run through the 59th. 60th: The 60th district tournament will be held at Pike County Central. This is a three team district. The 2-3 matchup takes place tonight at 7 with Phelps and Belfry. Phelps beat Belfry on the road by 5 in OT and beat them by 7 at home in the two games they played earlier in the year. The winner gets Pike County Central in the championship on Thursday at 7. Pike County central went 4-0 against the two teams earlier in the season with no game closer than 21 points. Barring a huge upset PCC should run away with this district tournament. Rankings: 1. Pikeville (20-4) 2. Pike County Central (19-8) 3. Lawrence County (22-6) 4. Martin County (19-9) 5. Magoffin County (16-12) 6. Floyd Central (14-13) 7. Betsy Lane (16-14) 8. Johnson Central (13-12) 9. Prestonsburg (16-13) 10. Paintsville (12-18) Best of the Rest: 11. Shelby Valley (7-16) 12. Phelps (16-12) 13. East Ride (10-17) 14. Belfry (9-20)
  6. Week 13: Here’s a breakdown of each district tournament along with a final ranking for the regular season. Good luck and injury free ball to each team! 29th: This is only a three team district. All games will take place at Oldham County. North Oldham was the 1 seed so they have already made the district finals and are waiting to see who they play. South Oldham and Oldham County are the 2-3 seed game. South Oldham beat Oldham County in the regular season by 7 at home in overtime. Christian Veirs had 27 and Julian Miles had 26 in the big win. North Oldham awaits the winner. They split the district this year and beat South Oldham by 10 but lost to Oldham County by 2 on the road. Although there are only two games being played, both should live up to the hype. The district championship is set to be played Friday night at 8. 30th: All games for the 30th will take place at Shelby County. Game one is tonight at 8 as Collins and Anderson County square off. Anderson County won the regular season matchup by 12 points on the road. Game two will be Tuesday night at 8 as Woodford takes on the winner from the previous game. Woodford County had two close games as they only beat Anderson by 3 on the road and Collins by 4 on the road. I think Woodford is extremely talented but if they don’t show up to play in their first round game they could be sent home. The other semifinal game is Wednesday at 8 as Spencer County and Shelby County. Spencer beat Shelby by 12 at home in their regular season game this year. The district championship will be Friday night at 8:30. Woodford beat Spencer in the regular season by 10 if all the high seeds advance. 31st: All games for the 31st will take place at Carroll County. The first game kicks off tonight as we see Carroll County take on Trimble County at 7:30. Carroll went 2-0 against Trimble this season winning their first game by 11 and their second game by 16. Game two takes place tomorrow at 7:30 as Henry County and Eminence play. Henry County won both of these games this season by 10 and 7. Game three takes place Wednesday night at 7:30 as Gallatin takes on the winner of Carroll and Trimble. Barring an upset, it will likely be Carroll County. Gallatin beat Carroll in both games this season by 32 and by 29. The other semifinal game will be Thursday night at 7:30. Owen County will play the winner of Henry County and Eminence. Owen won both games with Eminence this year by 33 and 48. They split their season series with Henry losing by 1 at home then rebounding with a 16 point win on the road. The district championship will take place Friday night at 8:00. Gallatin swept Henry in the regular season by 16 and 22 and split with Owen County by winning at 2 at home and losing by 7 on the road. The 31st should be exciting. 32nd: All games for the 32nd will take place at Grant County. The first game kicks off Tuesday at 7:00 with Walton-Verona taking on host Grant County. All teams play each other once in the district. Walton-Verona won their matchup 19 days ago by a final score of 73-70. This should be a thrilling first round matchup. Aaron Gutman led the way in the win with 29 and 10. The 2-3 seeded matchup will be Wednesday at 7:00 as Simon Kenton and Williamstown play. Simon Kenton won their regular season matchup by a score of 80-50. Travis Krohman led the pioneers with 24 and 3. The championship will take place Friday night at 7:00 PM. If the first two rounds played out with the favorites winning, Walton-Verona beat Simon Kenton in the regular season by 11. Rankings: 1. Woodford County (23-5) 2. North Oldham (24-5) 3. Oldham County (22-8) 4. Spencer County (20-9) 5. Walton-Verona (21-9) 6. Gallatin County (19-11) 7. South Oldham (16-12) 8. Simon Kenton (14-15) 9. Anderson County (16-12) 10. Shelby County (15-12) Best of the Rest: 11. Grant County (13-17) 12. Owen County (17-13) 13. Williamstown (19-10) 14. Collins (10-20) 15. Carroll County (11-16) 16. Henry County (14-14) 17. Trimble County (7-23) 18. Eminence (4-21)
  7. Week 13: Here’s a breakdown of each district tournament along with a final ranking for the regular season. Good luck and injury free ball to each team! 49th: All games of the 49th this year are at Oneida Baptist Institute. The 49th District has already kicked off with a game Saturday between Red Bird and OBI for the 4th seed. OBI knocked off Red Bird by a score of 83-52. The next game will be Clay County as the 1 seed taking on OBI the 4 seed. This game will take place Tuesday night at 7. Clay won the first meeting between the two teams by a score of 80-57 and won the second by a score of 91-33. I look for Clay to establish dominance again. North Laurel and Jackson County are the two/three matchup. This game takes place Wednesday at 7. These two had to play back to back days in the regular season because of snow canceling games and North won the first matchup by 18 and the second by 9. I fully expect North to come out and win the third matchup as well. Barring no upsets, this would set up a 49th district championship between Clay County and North Laurel Friday night at 7. Both teams took care of the home court earlier in the year with North winning by 4 at home and Clay winning by 7 at home. The third matchup at a neutral site should be a doozy. Clay is winners of 12 straight and NL winners of 6 of their last 7. 50th: This year the 50th district will take place at Whitley County High School. Both games take place Tuesday. Corbin and Williamsburg kick off the action at 6:00 in the 1-4 matchup. Corbin won both games this year with the first taking place way back in December where the Hounds won by 31. Corbin also won the next one but this was much closer with the game being close at the half before eventually Corbin pulled away with a 15 point win. Whitley County and South Laurel play after the first game with the time slot etched for 7:30. Both teams defended their home turf this season with South winning by 5 at their place and Whitley winning by 8 at their place. Home court may pay off big in this one. Mr. Do It All Jordan Mabe didn’t play in either game this year against Whitley. I think he’s the X Factor and I think he will be enough to give South Laurel the nod against a reeling Whitley County team that has lost three straight. The district championship is set for 7:00 Friday night. Corbin split with Whitley this year losing by 1 on the road and winning by 6 at home. Corbin swept South Laurel this year by winning by 11 on the road and 25 at home. Jordan Mabe didn’t play either game against Corbin. 51st: This year the 51st district will take place at Lynn Camp High school. The first game will be the 1-4 game between Knox Central and Barbourville on Tuesday the 27th at 7:00. Teams in the 51st only play each other once. Knox beat Barbourville on December 1st by 30. Gavin Chadwell has had a monster season and I see no reason for that to change in this game. The 2-3 game between Pineville and Lynn Camp will take place Wednesday at 7:00. Pineville beat Lynn Camp earlier in the year by a final score of 83-56. I don’t see many things changing from this game earlier in the year as well. The 51st district finals will take place Friday at 7:00. Barring two huge upsets, it should be a rematch between Knox Central and Pineville. Knox won the first game 78-67 in a game where Gavin Chadwell had 18 and 10. Sawyer Thompson had 24 in the losing effort. 52nd: This year the 52nd district will take place at Harlan County High School. Both first round games will take place on Tuesday the 27th. Harlan County and Middlesboro are the 1-4 matchup and this game is at 6PM. Harlan County won both games earlier this season by 29 and 44. I don’t foresee anything changing here. The 2-3 matchup will take place between Bell County and Harlan at 7:30. Bell won both of these games by 27 and 15. Barring a setback or an upset, Harlan County and Bell County will be playing each other in the championship game Friday night at 7:00. Harlan County won both games in the regular season by 19 and 25. Rankings: 1. Harlan County (26-4) 2. Clay County (21-8) 3. South Laurel (18-9) 4. North Laurel (16-14) 5. Corbin (19-8) 6. Bell County (24-6) 7. Knox Central (19-9) 8. Whitley County (20-9) 9. Williamsburg (17-13) 10. Jackson County (12-16) Best of the Rest: 11. Pineville (19-9) 12. Harlan (6-20) 13. Lynn Camp (8-19) 14. OBI (17-14) 15. Middlesboro (10-19) 16. Barbourville (7-23) 17. Red Bird (5-17)
  8. OL Brady Hull received a UK offer for them earlier today.
  9. Imagine how many 4A schools would be petitioning to play up in 5A if that were still possible. Boyle County, Paducah Tilghman, Covington Catholic, Highlands, Corbin, Johnson Central, Ashland, and Franklin County. Murderers row. Not to mention 6 of those teams named are in the East.
  10. It's wild to me how a team like Boyle, with the athletes they have, can only put up 39 points in a game.
  11. Week 12: Here’s your weekly recap for the 15th! 1. Pikeville (17-4) Pikeville really seems to make the fifteenth out to be a one horse race. They put together another undefeated week this time knocking off Huntington Prep by 14 and East Ridge by 38. They’ve lost one game this year and it was in the All A. They wrap up their regular season with a game at Shelby Valley tonight, Magoffin County at home tomorrow, and Paintsville on the road Friday. 2. Pike County Central (17-8) Pike County Central keeps rolling along as well this time with wins over Mountain Mission by 36 and Phelps by 41. Jaylan Rigdon and Jaden Stewart led the way with 31 and 30 in the first win and 31 and 29 in the second win. Is their 1-2 punch enough to knock off Pikeville? Time will tell. They finish up their regular season with East Ride at home tonight, Lawrence County at home tomorrow, and East Ride again on the road Thursday. 3. Lawrence County (21-5) Lawrence went 1-1 on the week with a win over Paintsville that surprisingly took them into OT, and then a 10 point loss to Ashland. Lawrence will need more from their squad if they look to knock off Pike County Central on the road tomorrow. They also have a game with Raceland at home on Thursday. Hayden Perry led the way in the win over Paintsville with 13. 4. Martin County (18-9) Martin Co went 2-1 on the week with a nice 3 point win at home against Hazard, a 15 point win against Paintsville, but then faced an 11 point setback to GRC. Luke Hale had four 3’s and 27 in the loss to GRC. Martin finishes up the regular season with a game at home with Floyd Central Tuesday. 5. Magoffin County (15-11) Magoffin pushed their win streak to four games and went 2-0 on the week with a 8 point win over Johnson Central, and a 24 point win over Betsy Lane. Aden Barnett has put together a great season and is one of the state’s leading scorers averaging 29.8 per game on 57% shooting. They’re going to need all of that and more as they travel to Pikeville Tuesday and host East Ridge at home on Friday. 6. Floyd Central (13-12) The Jaguars put together a really nice 3-0 week this week as they knocked off Knott County Central by 3, Huntington Prep by 23, and then Johnson Central by 13. Floyd Central will wrap up their regular season with Martin County on the road Tuesday, and Shelby Valley at home on Friday. 7. Betsy Lane (14-13) Betsy Lane had a rough 1-3 week with a 12 point loss to Knott Central, a 16 point loss to Magoffin, a 3 point loss to Breathitt, but finally a 6 point win over Prestonsburg. They really needed the win over Prestonsburg to try to get some momentum going into the final week of the regular season. They host Ligon COGO tonight, travel to Breathitt County Thursday, and then host Jackson City on Saturday. 8. Johnson Central (12-11) The Golden Eagles are now losers of 4 of their last 5, and look to right the ship before it’s too late. They dropped an 8 point game to Magoffin to start the week, then knocked off Belfry by 6. They finished the week with a 13 point loss to Floyd Central and a 4 point loss to Knott County Central. They finish up their regular season with a game at Boyd County tonight, and a game at Shelby Valley tomorrow. 9. Paintsville (11-15) Paintsville finally stopped a six game skid with a 10 point win over Huntington Prep. The Tigers are short on time with trying to turn this thing around. If they’re going to do so, they need to beat Morgan County on the road Tuesday, and then make a statement on Friday with Pikeville coming into town. 10. Prestonsburg (15-12) The Blackcats are another team that seem to be reeling at the wrong time. They went 1-1 on the week with an 11 point win over Leslie County, but immediately followed that up with a 6 point loss to Betsy Lane. They finish the regular season up with Belfry at home on Monday, and Letcher County Central on the road Tuesday. Best of the Rest: 11. Shelby Valley (7-13) 12. Phelps (14-12) 13. East Ride (10-15) 14. Belfry (8-19)
  12. Week 12: Here’s your weekly recap for the 8th! 1. North Oldham (23-4) North Oldham jumps back into the top of the rankings after going 1-1 on the week. They started off hot with a 17 point win over Collins before facing a 16 point setback to 12th region favorite DCA. Grant Neal led the way with 17 in the loss but as a team they only shot 34% from the field. The Mustangs wrap up the regular season with DuPont Manual at home today and then they’ll travel to St X. on Friday. 2. Woodford County (22-5) Woodford extended their win streak to five games as they knocked off Dunbar at home by 29 this past week. Layton Starks had a nice game with 24 in the win and as a team they shot 63% from the field. A winning recipe for any game. The Yellow Jackets wrap up the regular season with LCA at home on Thursday. 3. Oldham County (21-8) Oldham Co faced a setback this week as they went 0-2 on the week. They lost to St. X by 4 and Eastern by 13. These are games that will only help down the road, but still games you’d like to see won. Max Green finished with 31 in the loss to St X. and it seems like he didn’t play in the loss to Eastern according to Riherds scoreboard. Oldham Co finishes up their regular season with Butler at home on Thursday. 4. Spencer County (18-8) Spencer went 2-0 on the week and pushed their win streak to 11! This time with a 7 point win over Bullitt East and a 23 point win over Bardstown. Camden Cox led the way in the win over Bullitt East with 25. The Bears have a busy week as they travel to North Hardin tonight, to Owen County tomorrow, and then to Doss on Thursday. 5. Simon Kenton (13-14) The Pioneers put together a nice week going 2-0 with a 13 point win over Boone County and a 6 point win over Anderson County. This now pushes their win streak to 3 and 5 of their last 6. Simon Kenton wraps up their regular season with HIghlands at home tomorrow and Owen County at home on Thursday before they get ready for their opening round district game with Williamstown. 6. Walton-Verona (21-8) Walton-Verona went 2-0 on the week with a 2 point win over Dixie Heights in OT and a 9 point win over Newport Central Catholic. Aaron Gutman led the way in the Dixie win with 31 points and 7 boards. The Bearcats only have one game left in the regular season but it’s a massive one as they travel to the states number one ranked team and take on Great Crossing Tuesday. 7. Anderson County (16-10) Anderson went 1-1 on the week with a 6 point setback to Simon Kenton, but then responded well with a 7 point win over Owen County. Anderson County finishes up the regular season with a game at home with South Oldham Tuesday, then a game at home with Franklin County on Thursday. 8. Grant County (13-16) Grant County went 1-2 on the week. They started off with a 4 point win over Gallatin County in OT, but then took one on the chin against Great Crossing by 31 and followed that up with a 21 point loss to Cooper. Spencer Breeden led the way for Grant with 26 in the OT win against Gallatin. The Braves finish up their regular season with Bryan Station on the road Tuesday. 9. Gallatin County (17-11) Gallatin also went 1-2 on the week. They began the week with a 5 point setback to Augusta, then a 4 point loss to Grant in OT, before finishing the week on the upside with a 8 point win over South Oldham. Matthew Griffin led the way with 31 points and hit 5 3’s in the win over South Oldham. The Wildcats finish up the regular season with a game at home with Switzerland County IN, then they’ll travel to Holmes on Friday. 10. South Oldham (14-12) The Dragons started the week off with a 35 point win over Louisville Collegiate, but followed that with an 11 point loss to Madison Southern and an 8 point loss to Gallatin County. South Oldham will look to begin a new win streak as they travel to Anderson County Tuesday, and wrap up the regular season with a game at Bullitt East on Thursday. Best of the Rest: 11. Shelby County (14-12) 12. Owen County (16-12) 13. Williamstown (16-10) 14. Collins (9-19) 15. Carroll County (10-15) 16. Henry County (13-14) 17. Trimble County (6-22) 18. Eminence (4-19)
  13. Week 12: Here’s your weekly recap for the 13th! 1. Harlan County (24-4) The Black Bears took care of business and went 2-0 on the week to push their win streak to three in a row. They beat Pineville by 27 and Boyd County by 18. In the Boyd County game, Trent Noah set the record for most career points in Harlan County history by passing Charles Thomas. He finished the game with 38 and 11 and is currently 5th in the state with 29.2 points per game. Harlan County finishes up the regular season with a game at home against Knox Central tomorrow, and a game on the road at Whitley County on Thursday. 2. Clay County (19-8) The Tigers have kept things rolling and went 2-0 this past week. They beat Red Bird by 58 and Wolfe County by 25. Clay hasn’t lost a game since January 23rd and appears to be playing good basketball at a good time. They wrap up their regular season with a game at Harlan tomorrow, and then a game at Hazard on Thursday. The game at Hazard should be a good look at how they’re going to enter district and then region play. 3. South Laurel (15-9) This may be completely recently bias, but I felt like going into the year South Laurel was a strong team and with a healthy Jordan Mabe I felt like they had the best shot to unseat Harlan County. Now that he’s back, they’ve gone 2-0 on the week with a 29 point win over Bell County and a 25 point win over Harlan. South looks to wrap up the regular season on a positive note this week with a game at home with Madison Central tonight, a game at home tomorrow with Knott County Central, and a game at home Thursday with Lynn Camp. 4. North Laurel (14-14) North started the week off with a tough loss at home with Madison Southern by 14, but then bounced back with a big 4 point win over Corbin in double OT. The game was sent into OT with a huge half court shot by Kole Jervis that’s been seen circulating around Facebook. Kole led that game with 28 points followed by Brody Brock with 20. North will finish their regular season up with Whitley County on the road Tuesday and Lafayette on the road Friday. 5. Corbin (16-8) Corbin went 0-1 on the week with the 4 point loss in double OT to North Laurel. They had a player at the line up 3 with 1.4 seconds left and missed both free throws to give NL life. You have to be thinking the redhounds are kicking themselves after dropping that one. The plus side is they have three games this week to try to jump start themselves going into district play. They host Pineville tomorrow, host Bell County on Thursday, and go to Middlesboro on Friday. 6. Bell County (23-5) I may have dropped Bell a little too much after getting beat by 29 to South Laurel, but the thought process is I think Corbin will beat them this week so it’s tough to move them in front of them. I can easily eat my words if Bell knocks off the Hounds this week. Bell did rebound nice after their loss to South Laurel with a 14 point win over Whitley County. They finish up the regular season with a game at home against Lynn Camp tonight, and a game at Corbin on Thursday. 7. Whitley County (20-7) Whitley started the week hot with a 23 point win over Lynn Camp and a 29 point win over Barbourville, but fizzled out by the end of the week with a 14 point loss to Bell County. Whitley probably has the toughest week from the 13th region teams so far as they finish up with North Laurel at home tomorrow and Harlan County at home on Thursday. If they could grab the win in either of these games it would be some much needed confidence going into district play. 8. Knox Central (17-8) The Panthers went 1-0 on the week with a 10 point win over Harlan. Gavin Chadwell had another monster game with 40 points and 20 rebounds. The 40 points came on 16/18 shooting and 8/10 from the free throw line. Gavin has put together a monster year and is a big reason why the panthers have been rolling this year. Knox finishes the regular season with Cordia at home tonight, Harlan County on the road tomorrow, and Buckhorn at home on Friday. 9. Williamsburg (14-13) The Yellow Jackets went 2-0 on the week with a 4 point win over Barbourville and an 8 point win over Lynn Camp. Williamsburg finishes up their regular season with a game at Red Bird tonight, a game at Knoxville Ambassadors tomorrow, and a game at home with Ligon COGO on Wednesday. They hope to go 3-0 and ride that into district as they are the four seed in the 50th district. 10. Jackson County (11-15) Jackson County makes their way into the top 10 even with going 0-1 on the week with a tough loss to Bell County by 4 at home. The Generals hope to finish the regular season out strong with games at home with Barbourville tomorrow, and then Casey County on the road Friday. Best of the Rest: 11. OBI (15-12) 12. Pineville (17-8) 13. Harlan (6-18) 14. Middlesboro (10-16) 15. Lynn Camp (7-17) 16. Barbourville (6-22) 17. Red Bird (3-15)
  14. My thought process was I know nothing about the 3rd and picked the same team the two before me did. Lol
  15. Boyle needs Guy Turner to step up and knock some shots down if they’re going to knock off DCA if they make it to the district championship to play them again. I think he can be the X factor for the Rebels. We know what Tavi and Demauriah can do with the ball in their hands. He needs to help space the floor.
  16. It's hard for me to get on the Wayne Co train with looking at how Boyle beat them by 16 and Harlan Independent beat them by 5. They've also been in two close games back to back with Knox Central and Middlesboro and only beat them by 4 and 5. Knox is a 6-10th team in the 13th and Middlesboro isn't a top 10 team in the 13th.
  17. 1. Murray 2. Lyon County 3. Daviess County 4. Bowling Green 5. Washington County 6. Evangel Christian 7. Trinity 8. North Oldham 9. Newport 10. GRC 11. Great Crossing 12. DCA 13. Harlan County 14. Hazard 15. Pikeville 16. Ashland
