  1. Service in the arena is absolutely terrible.
  2. Looks like according to Twitter, that Winstead went to FL.
  3. Bell is no longer one of the two undefeated teams in the state.
  4. I can see that viewpoint. At the same time though, Jagger Gillis played FS then LB for Boyle for his two rings. Sage Dawson played corner both years for his. Brady Atwell dominated at LB for O Cath. Let your players play.
  5. Gotcha. I’m a believer in your best 11 on each side need to play, regardless of where they play on O/D.
  6. Harlan beats Pineville in the first round of the All A 72-68 in OT.
  7. Here is your 8th Region rankings and review week 6. Still familiarizing myself with these teams. One thing I’m learning though is these guys win a lot of games. 1. North Oldham (12-2). The Mustangs went 1-0 on the week with a resounding 31 point win over Holy Cross. Five players scored in double digits and the mustangs shot 63.6% from the field. North Oldham is back in action Monday against Shawnee, Tuesday against Evangel Christian in a big time matchup, and Friday against North Hardin with all these games being at home. 2. Woodford County (11-2) The Yellow Jackets were also perfect on the week with a 10 point win over Spencer County and a 16 point win over Tates Creek. The win over Spencer moves Woodford to 2-0 within the district. WoFo takes on Washington County at home Wednesday, before traveling to South Laurel to take on 13th region favorite Harlan County on Saturday in a big time matchup. 3. Oldham County (11-4). The Colonels are now winners of 7 straight after going 2-0 last week. The Colonels took down Ballard by 11 and Sayre by 28. I don’t know a ton about Williamstown, but I’d say the game Tuesday will tell if they are for real or not. Oldham also plays South Oldham Friday, and then Walton-Verona Saturday. This will tell me a lot about how these middle of the pack teams rank up. 4. Walton Verona (13-4) The Bearcats went 3-0 on the week with all three wins being in the 8th Region all A. The icing on the cake was the 15 point win over Gallatin County. WV will play Simon Kenton this Friday, then play Oldham County on Saturday in two big time region games back to back. 5. Spencer County (7-8) Spencer went 1-1 on the week with a 50 point win over Henry County and a 10 point loss to Woodford. 3 of the Bears losses this year have been by 2 points. It seems like they’re in close games but can’t finish them out. I’ll know if I nailed the 5 and 6 rankings when Shelby comes to town on Friday. This is the only game for Spencer this week. 6. Shelby County (9-6). The Rockets went 2-1 on the week with two region wins against Anderson by 15 and Carroll by 25. They also faced a 8 point setback to South Oldham. Shelby plays Valley at home on Tuesday before going to Spencer County on Friday. This is a big district game that will get one of the two the leg up on the other. 7. Gallatin County (10-5) Gallatin went on a nice run in the 8th region all A with wins over Cornerstone Christian and previous 9-1 Williamstown before falling to Walton-Verona by 15 in the finals. Matthew Griffin led the way in the loss with 29. The Wildcats will take on Carroll Co on the road Tuesday before playing Henry County at home on Friday. 8. Williamstown (9-2) The Demons had just their second loss on the year as their time in the 8th Region all A came to a close quick. There’s no time to hang their heads as they look to rebound in a big week with games at Oldham County on Tuesday, Heritage Academy Thursday, and at Henry County on Saturday. 9. Simon Kenton (5-9) The Pioneers are still struggling to figure it out after facing a 34 point setback at Bryan Station this past week. Simon Kenton will have played nine straight away games as they wrap up this week with games at Lloyd Memorial on Tuesday, and at Walton-Verona Friday. 10. South Oldham (8-6) I’m going to have the Dragons round out the top 10. Winners of 6 straight, and had two wins against Shelby Co by 8 and Collins by 38 this week. The Dragons are playing good basketball. They look to continue their winning ways against Oldham County on Friday this week. Best of the Rest: 11. Anderson County (10-5) 12. Collins (6-8) 13. Owen County (7-6) 14. Grant County (8-6) 15. Henry County (9-7) 16. Carroll County (3-9) 17. Trimble County (3-12) 18. Eminence (3-10)
  8. Here is your 13th Region rankings and reviews from Week 6. 1. Harlan County (15-2). Another week goes by, another perfect week. This time against region foes Corbin and North Laurel. The Black Bears beat Corbin by 6 and NL by 7. Trent Noah had 31 and 30 in each game. The Black Bears continue to show it’s going to take a near perfect game to knock them off. This week they start district play against the undefeated Bell County Bobcats Tuesday and play another district game against Middlesboro Friday before taking on Woodford Saturday. 2. Bell County (16-0) One of the few undefeated teams in the state, Bell County keeps rolling along. This time with two overtime wins this week over Knox Central and Daniel Boone TN, then a 2 point win over Whitley County in the final of the 2A sectional. Bell takes on Harlan County at home and can really put the region and the state on notice if they can win this one. That’s their only game this week. 3. Corbin (7-4). Corbin had one of the more impressive weeks in the 13th region with a commanding 21 point win over Danville Christian and a 4 point win over Ashland Blazer. They played Harlan County close as well before eventually losing by 6. Corbin has a big game Tuesday as they look to take the district back from South Laurel, then they take on Jackson County at home Friday, and Madison Southern on Saturday at South Laurel. 4. South Laurel (10-3). South started off the week with a 15 point win over Harlan before taking one on the chin against Boyle County by a score of 27-54. Jordan Mabe left the game in the second quarter and the Cardinals could never really rebound. I’m not sure on his status, but for his sake and for the teams sake they need him as the Redhounds come to town Tuesday which will tell more of the 3rd and 4th place rankings. South wraps up the week against Evangel Christian at home. 5. Whitley County (13-2) Whitley started the week off with an 11 point win over McCreary in the 2A before falling on a last second shot to Bell Co in the 2A. Whitley looks to rebound Friday as they make the short trip to Williamsburg to open up district. Whitley is another team that has won a lot of games but the schedule hasn’t been great so far. They will eventually have the chance to make a statement. 6. North Laurel (5-10) It was bound to happen and I’m going to make it happen this week with NL shooting up the rankings. Don’t be fooled by the 10 losses. Some of these losses include some of the states top 25 teams. North Laurel beat Clay County at home this week to show the 49th still runs through them. They also played Harlan County tough before eventually falling by 7. I don’t know if I believe NL can win the region, but I do think they can play spoiler when they’re hot. The Jags will play Madison Central at home Tuesday as their only game of the week. 7. Clay County (8-7) Clay had a chance to make a statement this week and couldn’t pull it off against the Jags. After dropping that game by 4, then lost to DCA by 7. I’m not ready to write off Clay yet, but I do think there are some internal issues they have to take care of. If they take care of that and get hot, then I think they can make some noise. This week they play Saturday in the Raymond Reed Classic against Sevier County. 8. Knox Central (12-4). I love seeing the Panthers continue to do well. They were 2 points in OT from taking down undefeated Bell County in the 2A sectional. They finished the week strong though with wins over Red Bird and McCreary Central. Chadwell didn’t play against McCreary and it was good to see some other players step up in his void. The Panthers play Tuesday at Perry County, then take on Cordia Friday. 9. Pineville (10-4). Pineville went 2-0 on the week with wins over Thomas Walker and a 2 point win over Jackson Co in the All A. Pineville returns to action in the All A Monday against Harlan, and if they win that they play Tuesday. 10. Jackson County (6-7) Jackson lost a heartbreaker to Pineville 58-60 in the All A Classic. They were led by a balanced scoring attack which saw Keagan Ward score 16, Peyton Singleton score 15, Carter Cunagin score 12, and Corey Cunagin score 10. The Generals are back in action Friday as they travel to Corbin. Best of the Rest: 11. OBI (8-6) 12. Middlesboro (5-7) 13. Williamsburg (7-8) 14. Harlan (3-9) 15. Barbourville (5-11) 16. Lynn Camp (2-10) 17. Red Bird (0-7)
  9. Boyle is undefeated since their football guys have been back in the weight room lifting.. could be complete coincidence.. maybe not?
  10. On heritage night, the Junction City Red Devils (Boyle) takes down the second best team in the 13th region. After catching a lot of heat this week, the Rebels have bounced back with two really nice wins back to back nights.
  11. Last time Boyle called Trinity was in their first 5 peat run.. Chuck Smith called and Trinity didn't answer. Maybe Trinity can try calling this time.
  12. Boyle was the number one team in Cal Preps and the only team in the state undefeated. I don't think there's any "unfortunately for Boyle".
  13. I’m not sure I’d say it’s routinely. There was one blowout this year, two last year. The two last year the teams who won were superior to everyone in their class.
  14. Russell has a zero percent chance of getting the job.
  15. Boyle looked a lot better in the Mercer tournament. Still need some sort of consistency shooting. Did Wayne have anyone out for the Harlan loss? That’s a terrible loss as Harlan is 2-8 on the year.
  16. Jumper Dad nailed it. He may hear PC out, but I’d say a 0% chance he leaves.
  17. Here is your 8th Region rankings and review. Give me grace as I am not super familiar with the 8th region, but I will do my best to give you a solid ranking and then you guys can argue in the comments. But nevertheless, here we go. 1. North Oldham (11-2). The Mustangs went 3-0 on the week and went home as the champs of the Mason County Invitational Tournament. They did so with a 34 point win over Scott, 12 point win over Walton-Verona, and a 23 point win over Campbell County. North Oldham is led on the year by Grant Neal (19 and 5) and Jack Fischer (14 and 8). The Mustangs will be back in action Tuesday at home against Holy Cross (Louisville). 2. Woodford County (9-2) The Yellow Jackets took part in the White, Greer, & Maggard Holiday Classic this past week and went 2-1 on the week. They beat Harrison County by 18 and Cooper by 2, but then got throttled by Lex Cath by 26. Most see Lex Cath as one of the top teams in the state so it’s nothing to get too caught up in, but it’s obviously a game they need to bounce back from. Woodford has four players averaging double digits so far on the year. They’ll be back in action Friday as they take on Spencer County at home in a district matchup. 3. Oldham County (9-4). The Colonels are now winners of 5 straight and also won the City of Middletown Holiday Classic. They beat Murray by 9, Hoptown by 8, and Eastern by 8. Oldham County was led by Max Green in the win against Eastern as he went for 29 and 10. The Colonels play Ballard at home Thursday night, then follow that up the next night with Sayre at home. 4. Walton Verona (10-4) The Bearcats went 2-1 on the week in the Mason County Invitational with an 11 point win over Augusta, a 12 point loss to North Oldham, then a nice 2 point win over tournament host Mason County. The Bearcats are led in scoring on the year by Aaron Gutman (21.8), Zach Smith (15.9), and Julian Dixon (12.2). Walton Verona opens up this week with 8th Region All A with a game against Trimble County. 5. Spencer County (6-7) Spencer went 2-1 on the week down at Daytona Beach FL with wins over Burrell PA and Steinbrenner FL, but a 19 point loss to CAL. The Bears have shown they can play with anyone with their win over Male, but it seems like they need to show some sort of consistency. They can do so this week with a game Wednesday against Henry County and then a big district game Friday night at Woodford. 6. Williamstown (9-1) The Demons are winners of 9 straight and have put together a nice start to the season. They went 2-0 on the week with wins over Southwestern and Lynn Camp. Knowing what I know about the 12th and the 13th, I would probably say that time will tell on the Demons as their schedule starts to pick up. This week they play Thursday in the 8th Region All A Classic against TBA. 7. Simon Kenton (5-8) I’m going to put Simon Kenton here based off my eye test from watching them online and Shelby and Anderson in person. It seems like SK opened the year up with some stiff competition, but has since settled in. They went 2-1 on the week with wins over Butler and Jeffersontown, but lost in the semi’s of the Ashland Invitational against Danville Christian Academy by 6. The pioneers are back in action on Friday as they travel to Bryan Station. 8. Shelby County (7-5). The Rockets went 1-2 on the week in the Mercer County Holiday Classic. I got the chance to watch them and was impressed with Dillon Ritchey and Michael Jones. Shelby lost to Scott Co by 7, Mercer Co by 12, but rebounded with a 8 point win over West Jess. Shelby is back in action on Tuesday against South Oldham, Friday against Anderson Co at home, then wrap the week up on Saturday with Carroll County at home. 9. Gallatin County (8-4) The Wildcats went 2-1 on the week in the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic. They opened up tournament play with a 37 point win over Claiborne TN, then had a setback against Monroe Co by 3, before wrapping up with a 10 point win over Trion GA. Gallatin will be back in action this week on Tuesday in the 8th Region All A Classic as they take on Cornerstone Christian. 10. Anderson County (9-4) The Bearcats went 3-0 on the week with a 26 point win over Bellevue, a 13 point win over Nicholas Co, and a 14 point win over Beechwood. They’re now winners of four straight and are being led on the year by Carson Sutherland (15.8 & 3.8). Anderson plays Garrard Co on the road Tuesday and Shelby Co on the road Friday. Best of the Rest: 11. Collins (6-6) 12. Owen County (6-5) 13. Henry County (9-5) 14. Grant County (6-6) 15. South Oldham (6-6) 16. Carroll County (3-8) 17. Trimble County (3-11) 18. Eminence (3-9)
  18. Here is your 13th Region rankings and reviews from Week 5. Most teams were in some sort of Christmas tournament of sorts and we got to see a lot of games played in a short time. Here’s how the teams shake out. 1. Harlan County (13-2). Harlan County spent their break in the Arby’s Classic in Bristol Tennessee. They opened the tournament up with a win over Oak Ridge TN, before falling by 25 to Kell GA. They were able to bounce back and finish fifth in the tournament with wins over George Wythe VA by 8 and South Shore NY by 8. This was a big time tournament that will pay dividends for the Black Bears on through the year. Harlan Co has two big time games at the end of the end week with Corbin on Friday and North Laurel Saturday. 2. South Laurel (9-2) The Cardinals had another unblemished week by going 3-0 and winning the Richmond Car and Truck Holiday Classic at Mad Central. South beat North Hardin by 7, GRC by 3, and Marshall Co by 10. South continues to show that they are likely the most likely to unseat Harlan County at this point. South plays at Harlan on Tuesday and then at Boyle on Saturday. 3. Bell County (13-0). The Bobcats continue to be the 13ths only undefeated team. Bell took part in the Carolina Invitational in Charleston SC and went 3-0 winning the tournament. They beat Bishop England SC by 2, Hilton Head Christian Academy by 1 in OT, then won the championship over Skyline AL by 21. Bell plays Knox Central in the 2A sectional on Tuesday then wraps the week up against Daniel Boone TN at ETSU. 4. Corbin (5-3). Corbin had a tough week in their own Cumberland Falls Invitational by going 1-2 on the week. They opened up with a 32 point win over Paris, only before falling to Webb TN and Daniel SC by 14 and 10 respectively. Things don’t get any easier for Corbin as this week they play Danville Christian Academy at home on Tuesday, Harlan County at home on Friday, and Ashland at home on Saturday. 5. Whitley County (12-1) Whitley took part in the Borderline Classic over the break and went 3-0 and won it. This is the second straight tournament the Colonels have won. They beat South Doyle by 9, Barbourville by 37, and Garrard Co by 20. Whitley plays McCreary in the 2A section on Tuesday, then at Belfry on Saturday. Whitley is putting together a really nice season and we will know sooner than later if they can upend Corbin to make the region. 6. Clay County (8-5) Clay had an up and down week at the Island Beach Blowout. They started off with a win over Fort Walton FL, before losing their next two to Douglass GA by 3, and to Jefferson Davis AL by 12. Hayden Harris is back with the Tigers but he didn’t play in any of the games this week. Clay kicks off district this week with a game at NL on Friday, then they will face Danville Christian at Lincoln on Saturday. 7. Pineville (8-4) The Mountain Lions went 3-0 on the week in the Chain Rock Classic. They beat Trimble Co by 15, Somerset Christian by 15, and Powell County by 11. Pineville has put together a nice year and the 51st district will be a tight race between them and Knox Central. Pineville plays Thomas Walker VA on Thursday, then plays Jackson Co on Saturday in the 13th Region All A Classic. 8. Knox Central (10-3). Knox went 3-0 on the week in the Burgin Holiday Tournament. They beat Fort Knox by 38, Louisville Collegiate by 28, and Shawnee by 18. Gavin Chadwell had a monster final game with 24 and 20. He’s been dominating on the season. Knox has a chance to shake up the rankings on Tuesday as they play Bell Co in the 2A sectional. Knox will also play Red Bird at home on Thursday. 9. North Laurel (4-9). North went 2-2 on the week and doubled up their win total. They took place in the White, Greer, and Maggard Holiday Classic. They opened up tournament play with a 9 point loss to LaRue, then beat Calloway Co by 6 and Taylor Co by 5. They finished the tournament with a 7 point loss to Madison Southern. I’m not ready to write the Jags off and think they will give Clay Co all they want in the district. Those questions will get answered on Friday as they play Clay County at home, then they play Harlan County on Saturday at Corbin. 10. Middlesboro (5-6) Middlesboro stopped a four game losing streak with a 34 point win over Trimble County to end the Chain Rock Classic. Middlesboro lost to Somerset by 4 and Raceland by 4 in the previous two. The Yellowjackets will play OBI on Saturday in the 13th Region All A. Best of the Rest: 11. Jackson County (5-6). 12. OBI (7-5) 13. Williamsburg (5-8) 14. Harlan (2-8) 15. Barbourville (5-10) 16. Lynn Camp (2-9) 17. Red Bird (0-5)
  19. I doubt Foley leaves for PC but that would have nothing to do with the super. More so it’s not like they can promise to give him more at PC if it’s all coming from the same board.
