  1. Rankings and Review for week 11! Week 11: 1. Pikeville (15-4) The Panthers keep rolling right along. This time with a 27 point blowout win over region foe East Ridge and a 22 point blowout win over Shelby Valley. It’s tough to see anyone right now being able to beat Pikeville IMO in the region. Six players scored 8+ in the win over East Ridge. This week Pikeville is on the road tonight at Huntington Expression Prep, then they host East Ridge on Saturday. 2. Pike County Central (12-8) The Hawks went 2-0 on the week with a 48 point win over Belfry and a 26 point win over Shelby Valley. It’s sad to see what’s happened over on Pond Creek. Jaylan Rigdon led the way with 32 on 80% shooting from the field in the win over Valley. PCC is back in action at home tonight against Mountain Mission VA, then they host Phelps on Thursday. 3. Lawrence County (18-4) The Bulldogs went 2-0 on the week with a 12 point win over Floyd Central and a 27 point win over East Ridge. In the win over Floyd Central Andrew Bloomfield led the way with 25, then Hayden Perry with 22, and Blake Marcum with 21. Lawrence hosts Paintsville tomorrow, goes to Wayne WV on Wednesday, and then hosts Ashland on Friday. If they can knock off Ashland this may turn some heads in the 15th. 4. Martin County (16-8) Martin went 3-0 on the week and extended their win streak to six games. They knocked off Magoffin at home by 5, Knott County Central at home by 11, and then went on the road and hung 103 on Johnson Central and beat them by 9. They were led by Luke Hale with 24, Brayden McKenzie with 23, and Devan Maynard with 22 in the win over JC. Martin hosts 14th region favorite Hazard tomorrow, Paintsville on Thursday, then they go to GRC on Saturday. 5. Magoffin County (13-11) Magoffin went 2-2 on the week. They started the week slow with losses to Martin County by 5 and Ashaldn by 14, but rebounded with back to back wins over Paintsville in consecutive days by 9 and 14. The Hornets are back in action this week as they go to Johnson Central tonight, host Betsy Lane on Wednesday, and go to Shelby Valley on Friday. Aden Barnett led the way against Paintsville with 37 points. 6. Betsy Lane (12-10) The Bobcats went 2-0 on the week with a 5 point win over Paintsville and a 9 point win over Shelby Valley. I almost moved them up into the top five but they did lose to Magoffin at home at the end of January. Betsy Lane will have a chance to redeem themselves though as they go to Magoffin on Thursday. They also play Knott County Central on the road tonight, Breathitt at home on Thursday, and Prestonsburg at home on Saturday. 7. Johnson Central (11-8) The Golden Eagles went 1-1 on the week with a 7 point win on the road at Prestonsburg and a 9 point loss to Martin County. Austin Slone had 21 in the win over Prestonsburg and 37 in the loss to Martin County. The Eagles will have a chance to move up in the rankings this week with a home game tonight with Magoffin, a game on the road against Belfry Thursday, a game at home with Knott County Central Friday, and then on the road with Floyd Central Saturday. 8. Floyd Central (10-12) The Jaguars lost to Lawrence by 12 to start the week and then beat Breathitt County by 5 to end the week. Floyd has now won 3 of their last 4 and look to go on a little run. This week they play Knott County Central on Tuesday, Huntington Expression Prep on Thursday, and Johnson Central at home on Saturday. 9. Paintsville (10-13) Paintsville is now losers of 4 straight and 10 of their last 13. They’re trending down and need to right the ship if they’re going to salvage this season. They can do so in a big way with games on the road at Lawrence Tuesday, Martin Co on Thursday, and Huntington Expression Prep Saturday. 10. Prestonsburg (14-11) Prestonsburg went 0-2 on the week with a 7 point loss to Johnson Central and a 29 point loss to Betsy Lane. The Blackcats have now lost 6 of their last 8 and are also struggling. They can right the ship this week as they host Leslie County on Tuesday, and go to Betsy Lane on Saturday. Best of the Rest: 11. Shelby Valley (6-13) 12. East Ridge (9-11) 13. Phelps (13-10) 14. Belfry (7-17)
  2. Here are your week 11 rankings! Week 11: 1. Oldham County (21-6) The Colonels got back to their winning ways as they went 2-0 on the week with a 27 point win over Gallatin County and a 2 point win over Lloyd Memorial. Max Green had 40 in the win over Gallatin and 29 against Lloyd Memorial. Oldham plays St. X on the road Tuesday, and Eastern at home on Thursday. 2. North Oldham (22-3) The Mustangs were also perfect on the week with a 18 point win over Owen County and a 29 point win over WEB DuBois. They were led by a balanced scoring attack in both wins. North Oldham plays Collins on the road Tuesday, then they host 12th region favorite DCA on Saturday in a big game. 3. Woodford County (21-5) Woodford started their new win streak as they went 4-0 on the week. This included a 25 point win over Bourbon County, a 22 point win over Lafayette, a 9 point win over Frederick Douglass on the road, and a 9 point win over Harrison County. An impressive week to say the least. Woodford only has two weeks left on their schedule for the season, one this week and one the next. This week they play Dunbar on Tuesday at home. 4. Spencer County (16-8) Spencer drops a spot but to no fault of their own as they went 2-0 on the week with a 32 point win over Franklin County and a 33 point win over Walton-Verona. The Bears haven’t lost since they fell by ten to Woodford County on January 5th. Luke Erhardt led the way in scoring with 27 and 25 in the two wins. Spencer plays Bullitt East at home on Tuesday, and Bardstown at home on Friday for this week. 5. Simon Kenton (11-14) The pioneers went 1-1 on the week with a 12 point loss to Campbell County then bounced back with a 12 point win over Scott. Travis Krohman had 18 in the loss to CC. Simon Kenton is back in action on the road against Boone County on Tuesday, and on the road against Anderson County on Friday in a region game. 6. Walton-Verona (19-8) The Bearcats went 1-1 on the week with a 3 point win over Grant County and a 33 point loss to Spencer County. In the win over Grant County Aaron Gutman led the way with 29 and Zach Smith followed behind him with 17. Walton-Verona plays two of their last three games this week with Dixie Heights coming to town Tuesday and then playing on the road against Newport Central Catholic on Saturday. 7. South Oldham (18-7) After a really hot start the dragons have now lost 4 of their last 6. South Oldham started the week off with a 6 point loss to DeSales, then had a 21 point loss to Evangel Christian, before rebounding with a 17 point win over Mason County. Julian Miles went off for 44 in the win over Mason County. The Dragons play Louisville Collegiate at home Tuesday, Madison Southern at home Thursday, and Gallatin County on the road Saturday. 8. Owen County (16-10) The Rebels went 2-1 on the week with a 18 point win over Trimble County, an 18 point loss to North Oldham, and a 10 point win over Williamstown. Brax Ward led the way in scoring in the wins this week with 22 and 15 respectively. Owen plays Shelby County on Tuesday at home, and Anderson County at home on Saturday. 9. Gallatin County (16-9) The Wildcats went 1-1 on the week with a 22 point win over Henry County and a 27 point setback to Oldham County. Matthew Griffin had 28 in the win but only 14 in the loss to Oldham. They look to get back to their winning ways with a game at Augusta tonight, a game at home with Grant County tomorrow, and a game at home against South Oldham Saturday. 10. Anderson County (14-9) Anderson went 1-0 on the week with a 17 point win over Lafayette. After dropping four straight they are now winners of two straight. The Bearcats are back in action with West Jessamine at home Tuesday, Simon Kenton at home Friday, and Owen County on the road on Saturday. Best of the Rest: 11. Grant County (12-14) 12. Shelby County (12-11) 13. Collins (9-16) 14. Carroll County (9-14) 15. Henry County (13-13) 16. Trimble County (5-20) 17. Williamstown (14-9) 18. Eminence (4-17)
  3. Week 11: Another wild week in the 13th region. Here we go! 1. Harlan County (22-4) The Black Bears took care of business and ended their two game losing streak this week on the road at Harlan to finish undefeated in the district and wrap up the one seed. Trent Noah led the way in the 31 point blowout with 27. The Black Bears should be the favorite in the rest of their games to wrap up the season. This week they play at home both games with Pineville coming to town Tuesday and Boyd County coming in on Saturday. 2. Bell County (20-4) The Bobcats have all but wrapped up the two seed in the 52nd district this week by going on the road to beat Harlan by 27 and Middlesboro by 3. They play Harlan tonight at home to ensure they finish with the two seed, then go to Jackson County on Tuesday. They also play at South Laurel on Friday and host Whitley on Saturday. A busy week for Bell which should solidify if they’re worthy of their high ranking or if they should drop down a few spots. 3. Clay County (17-8) Clay pushed their win streak from 5 to 8 this week with a win over 14th region favorite Hazard by 12, a 58 point win over OBI, and a 22 point win over Bishop Brossart. Clay will hardly be tested again till the end of the year with an away game at Hazard. This week they play Red Bird at home on Tuesday and go to Wolfe County on Saturday. Clay and North will both be tied at 6-1 in the district for the one seed. I’m not sure on the tiebreaker but I don’t think any of the other teams in the district can stop them from meeting each other in the district championship. 4. Corbin (15-7) The Redhounds wrapped up the number one seed in the 50th district this week with a 25 point win over South Laurel and a 6 point win on the road at Whitley. They also added a 24 point win over Barbourville. The win over Whitley means Corbin will play Williamsburg in the first round of the 50th district once the playoffs start. Corbin plays Lynn Camp on the road Tuesday and North Laurel on the road Friday. 5. North Laurel (12-13) The Jaguars went 2-1 on the week with a 5 point loss at Lincoln County and an 18 and 9 point win over Jackson County in consecutive days. Brody Brock had 14 and Kole Jervis had 12 in the loss to Lincoln. North is tied for the district lead at 6-1 with Clay County but barring something insane happening they’ll meet again for the district title. North plays Middlesboro at home tonight, Madison Southern at home tomorrow, and Corbin at home on Friday. A big week for the Jaguars. 6. Whitley County (18-6) The Colonels started the week off with a win over Williamsburg by 40 after being upset earlier in the year by 1 at their place. This brought a pivotal game at home against Corbin for the districts one seed which will be huge if Jordan Mabe comes back for South Laurel. Unfortunately for the Colonels, they dropped this game by 6. Danny Ellis led the way with 22 in the losing effort. Whitley looks to shake that loss off with games this week against Lynn Camp at home tonight, Barbourville on the road Thursday, and Bell County on the road Saturday. 7. Knox Central (16-8) Knox went 1-1 on the week with a 23 point win over McCreary Central before dropping a 4 game against Wayne County. Braydon Mills and Gavin Chadwell both led the Panthers with 20 in the loss. Gavin Chadwell also added 18 boards. If not for Trent Noah being in the 13th, Gavin Chadwell would probably be the favorite to win the 13th region player of the year from a numbers standpoint. Knox plays Harlan at home Tuesday, and Jackson County on the road Friday. 8. South Laurel (13-8) South went 1-1 on the week with a 25 point loss at Corbin in a game they only scored 29 in, but then beat Williamsburg by 42. This locks south in as the 3 seed of the district and they’ll have a pivotal game with Whitley to make the region. The Cardinals are in action this week against Lincoln on the road tonight, Bell County at home Friday, and Harlan at home Saturday. 9. Pineville (17-6) The Mountain Lions went 3-0 on the week and pushed their win streak to five. They Beat Middlesboro by 1, Red Bird by 38, and Cumberland Gap by 8. They have their work cut out for them this week as they go to Harlan County on Tuesday, and to OBI on Thursday. Sawyer Thompson led Pineville in scoring with 30 in the game against Red Bird. 10. Williamsburg (12-13) Williamsburg had a tough week within the district as they lost to Whitley by 40 and South Laurel by 42. They have no time to fret on those losses as they play Barbourville at home tonight, Lynn Camp at home Thursday, and Jackson City on the road Saturday. Best of the Rest: 11. Jackson County (11-14) 12. Harlan (6-15) 13. OBI (13-11) 14. Middlesboro (8-15) 15. Lynn Camp (7-14) 16. Barbourville (6-19) 17. Red Bird (3-14)
  4. I'm not sure if the interest is there from him but he would definitely be a homerun hire in my opinion as well. Would do a great job getting kids out. He's been a HC at the middle school level so he knows the importance of building from the ground up and laying a solid foundation.
  5. Pulaski will win their district this year. Mark it!
  6. I’m not sure on that. Hopefully someone else can chime in.
  7. Rankings and Review for week 10! Week 10: 1. Pikeville (13-4) Pikeville had a huge win this week over 13th region favorite Harlan County. They finished the week with a 48 point win over Christian Educational Consortium. The Panthers play East Ridge on Tuesday and Shelby Valley on Thursday. 2. Pike County Central (13-8) The Hawks went 3-1 on the week with wins over Shelby Valley by 13 in OT, Phelps by 19, and Tug Valley by 21. They had one set back against South Charleston WV by 1 in OT. PCC returns to action against Belfry on Tuesday and East Ridge on Thursday. They also play Grundy VA on Friday and Shelby Valley on Saturday. 3. Lawrence County (18-4) The Bulldogs went 2-1 on the week with a 32 point win over East Ridge and a 17 point win over Lewis County. They did have a tough 4 point loss against Betsy Lane in a game they probably should’ve won if they look to compete for the 15th region. They play Floyd Central on Tuesday and East Ridge this Saturday. 4. Martin County (13-8) Martin went 2-0 on the week with a 4 point win over Magoffin County and a 12 point win over Tug Valley. The Cardinals look to keep their winning ways going as they play Magoffin again tonight at home, Knott County Central Tuesday, and at Johnson Central Thursday. 5. Magoffin County (11-9) Magoffin went 1-1 on the week with a 4 point loss to Martin County and a 21 point win over West Carter. They can right their loss to Martin County as they play them again tonight. They also can send some shock waves if they’re able to beat Ashland Blazer on Wednesday. They play Paintsville back to back days on Friday and Saturday. 6. Betsy Lane (10-10) The Bobcats went 2-1 on the week with a 3 point win in OT against Johnson Central and a 4 point win against Lawrence County. They had a let down at the end of the week though as they fell to Wolfe County by 6 in OT. The win over Lawrence County was a huge win for the team that they need to build off of. They play Paintsville tonight, Shelby Valley Tuesday, and Prestonsburg Friday. 7. Johnson Central (10-7) The Golden Eagles went 2-1 on the week. They had a tough loss in OT to Betsy Lane, but rebounded to win the week out with wins over Paintsville by 1 and East Ridge by 24. JC will play Prestonsburg Tuesday and Martin County Thursday. 8. Paintsville (10-10) The Tigers went 1-1 on the week with a 6 point win over Prestonsburg and a 1 point loss to Johnson Central. Paintsville plays Betsy Lane tonight, Magoffin Friday, and Magoffin County again on Saturday. Ethan Cole led them in scoring with 31 in the win over Prestonsburg. 9. Prestonsburg (14-9) Prestonsburg went 1-2 on the week with a 6 point loss to Paintsville, a 24 point over Floyd Central, and a 5 point win over Mingo Central. PBurg plays Johnson Central Tuesday and Betsy Lane on Friday. Best of the Rest: 11. Shelby Valley (6-10) 12. East Ridge (8-9) 13. Phelps (12-9) 14. Belfry (5-15)
  8. Here are your week 10 rankings! Week 10: 1. Oldham County (19-6) Oldham had a huge win this week as they knocked off region favorite North Oldham by 2, but then followed it up with a let down against Simon Kenton and lost by 9. The win over NO shows they can compete with the regions best, but they need to bring their A game week in and week out. Oldham plays Gallatin County at home on Thursday and hosts Lloyd Memorial on Saturday. 2. North Oldham (20-3) The win streak is no more after the setback with Oldham County, but they started another win streak as they knocked off Grant County by 35. In the loss by 2 with Oldham, Grant Neal had 31 and Jack Fischer had 20. They are back in action Wednesday with Owen County on the road, and they play WEB DuBois at home on Saturday. 3. Spencer County (14-8) Spencer kept their winning streak alive with a 17 point win over South Oldham and a 3 point win over Gallatin County in OT. They’ll be back in action with Franklin County on the road Tuesday, and a game with Walton-Verona at home on Friday. 4. Woodford County (17-5) Woodford knocked off Henry Clay by 6 and got beat by Adair by 12 this week in the Ed Stepp Classic. This week they play Bourbon County on Tuesday and Lafayette on Wednesday. Friday they will play Frederick Douglass on the road before hosting Harrison County at home on Saturday. 5. South Oldham (12-8) South Oldham faced a 17 point setback to Spencer County before rebounding with a 54 point win over St. Henry. This week the Dragons are back in action as they host DeSales tonight, host Evangel Christian on Thursday, and go to Mason County on Saturday. 6. Simon Kenton (10-13) Simon Kenton had a really nice week with a 9 point win over Oldham Co and a 19 point win over Grant County. Hopefully SK goes on a run and plays to the level at which they’re capable of. They are back in action Tuesday night against Campbell Co and host Scott on Friday. 7. Walton-Verona (18-7) WV went 2-0 on the week with a 27 point win over Owen County and a 22 point win over Williamstown. The Bearcats play Grant County on Wednesday night and Spencer County on Friday. Aaron Gutman led the way against Owen County with 33 points on 77.8% shooting from the field. 8. Shelby County (12-10) The Rockets went 1-1 on the week with a 4 point win over Collins and a 17 point loss to Lafayette. Shelby plays Kentucky Christian Knights on Tuesday and Grant County on Friday 9. Owen County (14-9) Owen went 1-1 on the week with a 48 point win over Eminence but then had a 27 point set back to Walton-Verona. The Rebels play Trimble Co tonight, then have a stiff test against North Oldham on Wednesday. They finish the week up with Williamstown on Thursday. 10. Gallatin County (15-8) Gallatin went 2-1 on the week with a 68 point win over Trimble Co, a 29 point win over Carroll Co, and a 3 point loss to Spencer in OT. The Wildcats are back in action at Henry County on Tuesday and on the road with Oldham County on Thursday. Best of the Rest: 11. Anderson County (13-9) 12. Grant County (11-13) 13. Williamstown (13-6) 14. Collins (9-14) 15. Henry County (13-11) 16. Carroll County (7-13) 17. Trimble County (3-18) 18. Eminence (4-15)
  9. Week 10: Another wild week in the 13th region. Here we go! 1. Harlan County (21-4) The Black Bears had a tough week by doubling their season losses going from 2 to 4. I still think they’re the favorites and are in the driver's seat for the 13th with how the rest of the teams did this week. However, they need to win these games if they plan on making noise at the state tournament. They lost to Pikeville by 2 on the road and Douglass by 10 at Lafayette. They only have one game this week at Harlan on Friday. 2. Bell County (18-4) The Bobcats got back to their winning ways going 2-0 on the week with a 2 point win over Middlesboro and a 26 point win over Jackson City. Bell has two big games this week as they play Harlan on Tuesday and Middlesboro on Friday. This will go a long way for district seeding for the upcoming tournament. This should help them locking up the two seed and avoiding a first round district game with Harlan County. 3. Clay County (14-8) Clay is now winners of five straight and seem to be peaking at the right time. They started the week off with a 13 point win over Corbin, then a 22 point win over Jackson County, before finishing the week off with a 1 point win over Knox Central in OT. Clay looks to keep their winning ways alive with a game tonight against Hazard, Friday at home with OBI, and a game at Bishop Brossart on Saturday. 4. North Laurel (10-12) North Laurel started the week off win a 45 point win over Red Bird, then had a nice 5 point win over 12th region contender Pulaski County. They did end the week on a bad note as they got beat by Ashland by 34. There’s no time to sulk though as North plays at Lincoln Co on Tuesday, at home with Jackson County on Thursday, then they travel to Jackson County the next day on Saturday. 5. Whitley County (17-5) If not for a 1 point loss to Jackson County Whitley would’ve likely jumped up even higher this week. After that setback, Whitley responded well with an 8 point win over South Laurel at home and a 31 point win over Owsley County. Whitley continues district play this week with a game Tuesday against Williamsburg as they look to avenge a loss earlier in the year, and then a game with Corbin on Friday. If Whitley has any hope to get the 1 seed in the district they have to go 2-0 on the week. 6. Corbin (12-7) The Redhounds had a tough week as they are now on a 3 game losing streak. They lost by 3 to Clay County on the road, then got beat by 50 by Great Crossing. This week they look to end their losing skid against South Laurel at home on Tuesday. They also play at Barbourville on Thursday, and at Whitley County on Saturday. If Corbin can go 2-0 in the district on the week they will lock up the 1 seed and avoid a game against South or Whitley to open up the district tournament. 7. Knox Central (15-7) Knox is in the driver's seat of their district after a 9 point win over Pineville and a 7 point win over Lynn Camp. They also came a point away in OT from pulling the upset against Clay County at home. Knox is the region's most improved team and I love seeing them back competing. This week Knox will play McCreary at home on Tuesday, before going to Middlesboro to play Wayne County on Friday in the Coach Larry Tom Davis Classic. 8. South Laurel (12-7) South is having a rough go without Mabe as they have now lost 5 of their last 7. If anyone knows the status of Mabe, fill us in! I’m hoping they get him back before the district tournament games start. South beat Williamsburg by 29 but then lost by 8 to Whitley on the road. This week they play Corbin on Tuesday and Williamsburg on Friday in two more big district games. 9. Jackson County (10-12) The Generals had a big 1 point win over Whitley County, but followed it up with a 22 point loss to Clay County and a 3 point loss to Montgomery County. The Generals look to get back in the W column this week with games against OBI on Tuesday, North Laurel on Thursday, and North Laurel at home on Friday. 10. Williamsburg (12-11) Williamsburg got beat pretty bad by South Laurel at home, but then bounced back with wins over Cumberland Christian Home Educators and a forfeit win over IAM. They continue district play this week with games at Whitley on Tuesday and South Laurel on Friday. Best of the Rest: 11. Pineville (14-6) 12. Harlan (6-13) 13. OBI (11-9) 14. Middlesboro (7-12) 15. Lynn Camp (5-13) 16. Barbourville (5-17) 17. Red Bird (2-12)
  10. Final from Lincoln. Game was never really close.
  11. Pikeville wins it on a tip in buzzer beater.
  12. Are the tigers starting to figure it out?
  13. Would like to see Tyreon Clark apply for this and get it.
  14. I’m not super familiar with the 15th, so we are going to give it a shot and each week the rankings should be a little better. Here are your week 9 rankings! Week 9: 1. Pikeville (11-4) Winners of 7 straight, Pikeville finally suffered defeat at the hands of Evangel Christian in the All A. Things don’t get any easier as they host 13th region favorite Harlan County at home on Tuesday. The Panthers wrap the week up Saturday with Christian Educational Consortium. 2. Lawrence County (16-3) Lawrence is now winners of 5 straight with wins this week over East Carter (7), St Joseph Central (21), and Prestonsburg (17). The Bulldogs host East Ridge Tuesday before going to Betsy Lane Friday and to Lewis County Saturday. 3. Pike County Central (10-7) PCC is winners of 4 straight and 7 of their last 8. The Hornets host Martin Co Tuesday and travel to West Carter on Wednesday. 5. Martin County (11-8) Martin Co went 1-0 on the week with a 12 point win over Paintsville. They have a big one Tuesday with Magoffin before playing in the Hatfield-McCoy shootout Friday and Saturday. 6. They look to right the ship as they welcome Paintsville to town Tuesday, play at Floyd Central Friday, then play in the Hatfield-McCoy shootout Saturday. 7. Johnson Central (8-6) The Golden Eagles went 1-0 on the week with the crosstown rivalry win over Paintsville by 13. They look to keep it moving as they host Betsy Lane Tuesday, go back to Paintsville Friday, then wrap the week up with East Ridge at home Saturday. 8. Paintsville (9-9) Paintsville beat Floyd Central by 11 before losing to JC by 13. The Tigers are now losers of 6 of their last 8. They look to regroup this week as they play at Prestonsburg Tuesday, then host Johnson Central Friday. 9. Floyd Central (8-9) Floyd snapped a 7 game losing streak as they knocked off Betsy Lane by 9. They now look to extend their new win streak as they face Letcher County Tuesday and Prestonsburg Friday. 10. Shelby Valley (6-8) Shelby Valley went 1-0 on the week with a 6 point win over East Ridge. They look to keep it rocking with games at Pike Co Central Monday, and WestSide WV in the Hatfield-McCoy shootout this weekend. Best of the Rest: 11. Betsy Lane (8-9) 12. East Ridge (7-7) 13. Phelps (11-7) 14. Belfry (5-11)
  15. Here are your week 9 rankings! Week 9: 1. North Oldham (19-2) Winners of 11 straight, North Oldham is showing they’re a threat to make a run for it all. This week included a 55 point win over Doss, 10 point win over South Oldham, and a 35 point win over Beechwood. This week puts the Mustangs on the road Thursday at Oldham County, and at home Friday against Grant Co. 2. Oldham County (17-5) It was a big week for the Colonels as they beat Woodford on the road by 9, Shelby Co by 26, and Central by 6. Oldham Co has lost one game since Dec 21st and are playing great basketball. This week they take on Collins on Tuesday, before a huge matchup with Region #1 North Oldham at home on Thursday. Then they wrap up the week on the road Saturday at Simon Kenton. 3. Woodford County (15-4) Woodford suffered a setback to Oldham Co, before finishing the week strong with a 25 point win over Shelby Co and a 4 point win over Collins. Omari Jointer led the way with 22 in the loss to Oldham. Wofo hosts Montgomery county Tuesday, goes to Henry Clay Thursday, and then hosts Adair on Saturday. 4. South Oldham (11-7) South Oldhams nine game win streak came to a close with a 10 point loss to North Oldham. Julian Miles had 38 points and 7 3s in the loss. The Dragons go to Spencer Co Tuesday and host St. Henry Thursday. 5. Spencer County (12-8) After starting the year slow, Spencer is now winners of 5 straight and 7 of their last 8. Last week, Collins and Anderson Co were the latest two to fall. They look to keep the win streak alive this week as they host Spencer Tuesday, and go to Gallatin Saturday. 6. Walton-Verona (15-7) Walton-Verona opened up the All A tournament with a 26 point win over Augusta before falling by 12 to Lyon County. WV will now refocus as they host Aiken OH Tuesday, Owen County on Friday, and go to Williamstown on Saturday. 7. Simon Kenton (8-12) SK went 1-1 on the week with a 4 point loss to Conner and a 8 point win over Gallatin Co. The Pioneers have won 3 of their last 4 and look for some sort of continuity. SK goes to Ryle on Tuesday, and then hosts Oldham Co on Friday in a big region game. 8. Shelby County (11-9) Shelby had a tough week going 1-2, but their two losses were to the regions second and third ranked teams. Shelby gets the front part of the week to recuperate before they host Collins Friday and go to Lafayette Saturday. 9. Owen County (12-8) Owen County is the newest team to break the top 10 as they had a great week going 3-0. This included a 5 point win over Grant Co, a 7 point win over Gallatin Co, and a 19 point win over Trimble Co. The Rebels have 3 games this week as they host Carroll Co Monday, go to Eminence Friday, and travel to Walton-Verona Saturday. 10. Gallatin County (13-7) The wildcats had a tough week going 1-2 but the two losses being to region foes Owen Co and Simon Kenton. Gallatin looks to bounce back quick with games this week against Trimble Monday, Carroll Thursday, and Spencer Co Saturday. Best of the Rest: 11. Grant County (10-10) 12. Anderson County (12-9) 13. Williamstown (12-5) 14. Collins (8-12) 15. Carroll County (7-10) 16. Henry County (11-11) 17. Trimble County (3-16) 18. Eminence (4-13)
  16. Week 9: What a week of ball this week in the 13th. Lots of upsets, lots of head scratchers, and one team remaining on top. I think at this point in the year I’m not sure if anyone can play Harlan County close. I think it’s going to take someone to be on their A+ game and HC to have an off night to knock them off. With that said, all the other games in the districts and region should be thrilling. Without further ado, your week 9 rankings. 1. Harlan County (21-2) The Black Bears haven’t lost a game to an instate opponent since December 20th. This week they man handled Harlan and Bell County by 25, before crushing Middlesboro by 44. I don’t see them being slowed down anytime soon. They should have a more challenging week this week as they take on Pikeville at their place Tuesday, and then Douglass at Lafayette on Saturday. These are likely HC’s toughest two games left before district tourney play starts. *this is where the rankings get fuzzy because everyone’s kind of beat each other. So hold tight* 2. Corbin (12-5) Corbin went 2-1 on the week but can’t be satisfied with the week they had. What started off with a 22 point win over Berea and a 15 point district win over Williamsburg, ended with a disappointing 1 point loss off a buzzer beater at home to Whitley. This now makes the game against South Laurel even bigger for district seeding. Things don’t get any easier for Corbin as they go to Manchester to play Clay on Tuesday, then face off against the states number one Great Crossing at Pineville on Saturday. 3. Bell County (16-4) Bell is currently on a four game losing streak but one of those were in OT, one was after losing a big lead in the third, and one was against region number 1 HC. Bell looks to right the ship and should be able to easily this week as they take on Middlesboro Thursday and Jackson City Saturday. I think Bell is good enough to play with and hang around with anyone in the region besides Harlan Co. 4. Clay County (11-8) I’m not sure what to think of the Tigers right now. They started the week off getting smoked at home by Pulaski Co by 20. Then turned it around with a big district win over NL by 7 and finished up the week with a 23 point win over Tates Creek. A win at home over Corbin on Tuesday would give the Tigers some much needed juice to close out the regular season. Clay also plays Jackson County on the road Friday and Knox Central on the road Saturday. 5. North Laurel (7-11) North Laurel is another team that’s hard to get a read on. I was expecting a win over Clay to wrap up the districts 1 seed but they dropped the game by 7. Then they go on to beat South Laurel by 12 at home. Things don’t slow down for the jaguars as they go to OBI Monday, host Red Bird Tuesday, host Pulaski County Friday, and play Ashland at LCA Saturday. 6. South Laurel (11-6) The Cardinals are really struggling without Mabe. Now losers of 4 of their last 5, the Cardinals have three straight district games on the schedule. South lost to North by 12 on the road, but managed to pick up a valuable 5 point win over Whitley. This week they go to Williamsburg on Tuesday and Whitley on Friday. South either needs Mabe back ASAP but they also have to start adapting to life without him if they’re going to make it out of the district. 7. Whitley County (15-4) The Colonels started the week off with a 5 point loss to SL but ended hot with a buzzer beater win over Corbin at home and then a 42 point win over Cordia. Whitley could honestly probably be higher than where they’re at right now, with 2-7 being hard to rank currently. They’ll have another chance to shoot up the rankings this week as they go to Jackson Co Tuesday, then host South Laurel at home on Friday and go to Owsley Co on Saturday. 8. Knox Central (13-6) The panthers have quietly put together a nice season. KC went 1-1 on the week with an 11 point win over Southwestern and a 15 point loss at Rockcastle. Knox has two district games this week. The first is a road trip to Pineville on Tuesday, and then a road trip to Lynn Camp on Friday. They wrap the week up at home with Clay on Saturday. 9. Williamsburg (10-10) All the snow cooled the yellow jackets off as they went 0-2 on the week with a 15 point loss to Corbin then a 34 point drubbing in the All A to Murray. They look to right the ship this week as they host South Laurel Tuesday, host The Cumberland Christian Home Educators Friday, then play I.A.M on Saturday. 10. Pineville (12-5) Pineville went 2-0 on the week with wins over district foes Barbourville and Lynn Camp. The Mountain Lions have a huge home game Tuesday as they host Knox in a game for the 1 seed in the district. They then go to Harlan on Thursday, and wrap it up at home with Berea on Saturday. Best of the Rest: 11. Harlan (4-11) 12. Jackson County (8-10) 13. OBI (10-8) 14. Middlesboro (6-10) 15. Barbourville (5-15) 16. Lynn Camp (4-12) 17. Red Bird (1-11)
  17. The Colonels knock off Corbin in Corbin. Snaps a 20 game losing streak they had to the hounds.
  18. Burns has not been contacted with that information.
  19. Then Clay turns around and knocks off North tonight. I know North isn’t world beaters, but this was a game I expected North to win.
  20. The Tigers get the win in Manchester.
