We shall see. I hope they stay, makes the region exciting. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if this becomes a pattern. Elite middle school talent crossing the river to play varsity basketball, then heading back.

Yeah, I'm gonna need the details on this one.....LOL

Are we 100% sure that they all don’t live in Ohio already? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t care and hope they all stay put, Turner along with Walker from Lloyd could be exciting the next 3 years in the 9th. But I know the appeal of 8th graders playing JV/Varsity in KY is appealing for elite players from Ohio.

Ohio.

Agree, but will they stay??? Hearing rumblings that one or two are headed across the river. If they stay, Newport will be very, very good.

LOL, no apologies needed!

GRC.

7th…Highlands over Beechwood 8th…Highlands over Beechwood

8th grade game boils down to Beechwood’s Logan Wermuth’s ability to get to the rim, finish, and find Beechwood’s open shooters vs Highlands depth, defensive intensity and transition offense. if this game is in the 30’s, it could favor Beechwood. Highlands wants this to be an up and down game where their length and athleticism can take over. Should be a great finale to an always outstanding day of games at Connor.

They have done this for years. It’s what makes them so endearing to the rest of NKY (insert sarcasm gif here).

8th Grade Boys Championship is set Beechwood vs Highlands 3pm Saturday at Connor

Double digit blocks as well (although I have heard this second hand).

No! Lots of great 2/3 games. Would hate to miss out on these.

8th Results Summitview over Turkeyfoot Beechwood over Ockerman Connor over Campbell Highlands 51 Gray 39

Yes, tonight at 7:30 at Twenhofel. Birds won the first meeting by 10, both teams were missing key guys. Everyone should be full strength tonight. Gray is back to back region champs (6th and 7th) minus a couple guys playing up. Highlands undefeated this year and will not have Vinny Listerman who also played 9th/JV.

Highlands Gray matchup in round one is going to be a good one! Lots of talent on the floor.

Both teams have a lot of talent, looks bright in Newport. However, both teams did lose to Highlands 7 and 8. Outside of the small school division, but losses nonetheless. Congrats to the Wildcats!

44 seconds left, that’s the closest I could get to end of the game.

Screenshot from near the end of the game.

Appreciate the post, and the scoreboard is wrong. ? My lying eyes saw it as a Highlands win.

I believe you have the score backwards my friend.

Pretty neat possibility tonight during the Highlands vs Beechwood game. BOTH senior Zach Barth and junior Will Herald are exactly 20 points away from 1,000. Led me to try and remember a time this has happened before. Two teammates cross that milestone in the same game.

Not rebounding, turnovers, and recent injuries are dooming the Birds. Good thing is, two of those are fixable.

Anyone have a box score from this game?
