With the regular season starting for some this week and a few preseason events down, who are the favorites in each grade? Players that stand out? 6th? 7th? 8th?

Great and fun game to watch. I was very disappointed in the Birds offensive play calling here. I know, hindsight and all. I just felt they left a lot of points on the field and by the time the playbook was opened it was too late. Scott County is fun to watch on offense. Can’t count how many times I followed the wrong ball carrier.

This seems to be happening more and more across the state, and I have mixed feelings. "Be the best, beat the best" yeah I see a lot of truth to that and the competitor in me wants to see teams face all challengers. However, it is up to the schools to decide what is best for their program and if they feel not playing certain schools for whatever reason is their best course of action, well that is up to them. Sometimes publicly doing something like this brings light to the alleged problem. It is happening in NKY as well with CovCath and teams not playing them.

No, correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that would violate the rules, 8th graders playing contact sports vs others more than 3 grades above their own.

Anyone have any info on some holiday or other types of middle school tournaments (6-7-8) for SCHOOL boys teams? Preferably outside of Northern KY? Thanks!

I am extremely excited about the parity this season. It is as open a region as it has been over the last 8-10 years, IMO. What I mean by that is I can see as may as 6-8 teams, that if they get hot at the right time, that could win the region. I never remember it being that way in awhile. I still think CovCath is the favorite but the other schools have narrowed the gap. This will make for some very exciting games this year. PUMPED for hoops!!

And yet another reason why this is a HUGE Birds win!!! Now, handle business next week. I’m headed to the Pub…..

I believe with nearly everything you said except the “superior talent.” I believe during their run they have had superior talent to nearly everyone in the 9th. I think this will be the first year in awhile where they do not. If they get out of the 9th, then maybe I’ll jump on board with your analysis about talent. Everything else is pretty accurate.

Yes, I believe this is the most open the 9th has been in a very long time. You could make the argument for 6-7 teams that could come out. Cov Cath should still be considered the favorite, but the gap between them and the rest of the region has seriously shrunken.

Players were required to have a Tetanus shot before lifting in the Birds basement weight room. That place was disgusting 😂.

Birds name their score and continue to get better ahead of their clash with the Blue Colonels in 2 weeks.

Lots of people can throw a beautiful ball, doesn’t make them a QB. I think the Birds are in great hands this year and next with Mr. Benke. He is the better QB and it’s not close.

Are you suggesting Bottom should start over Benke?!? I think anyone and everyone would agree that Benke is by far HHS best option at QB.
