They graduated the house as far as any others that touched the ball. Upfront? Call it 2/3-3/4 of the guys that started/saw meaningful minutes lost to graduation.

Absolutely. This x a million. I know I'm not on the college threads much, and because of that, this seems like an easy thing to say....but, amongst friends, family, colleagues of mine (specators of the game, coaches at the hs and college levels, etc)? I've been saying this all year long. They were playing with the wrong guy at QB1. As a matter of fact, I thought tonight was going to be a case of Tua replacing Jalen 2.0 in the title game.....and, after Texas first couple series? I thought it was going to be a lot sooner than it was when Tua came into takedown the Dawgs.

It's not that running Jet (sweep) is the issue...the issue, at least for me, is that they did it from the gun. 1- It's not as deceptive as under center (due to the QB having his back turned to the defense with all of the complimentary series plays that you can do off of jet) 2- the depth at which the ball carrier receives the ball (which, under center it's behind the qb..in the gun? It's in front of the QB. So, yes, we are only talking about a yard give or take where the ball is delivered in the negative, but that's a whole heck of a lot when you're facing a defense whose strength is it's perimeter guys by in large). Them going to the gun...on the one, absolutely SCREAMED to me from the coaching staff to the players, "we have zero faith in you all being able to line up and go nose to nose, toes to toes with these guys." I absolutely hate.....hate....hate...that football has become this thing of fashion, and that if you aren't "spread", then, 'you don't know what you're doing' type ideology in the masses that has absolutely engulfed the football society....at practically all levels of the game. Meanwhile....I can't wait for the next "Sark to the NFL because of the offensive wonder boy " clamoring on social media, radio, tv, etc.

Sark…the “offensive guru” overrated. As are so many at that level. Namely him. They go 23P from the 1, Under center….get stalemated on 1st down. Then they go from the gun 3 straight plays with 2 passes, and their only other run being to the flank.

I think the 6A play of it being the hard one out of the bunch is a bit overrated, IMO. Every class now with 6 classes have their group of 4/5 (if even that) usual suspects the majority of years. 80%+ of teams in the state in each class don't have a snowballs chance in you know where year end year out to make any kind of serious run. HOWEVER, with that said, you are exactly right about Coach Boston....what he did there and moving forward. There are some buzzards in Henderson, maybe even some of the one's showing up at practices to watch from a far the last couple years that should apply for the job. Instead of them being the pot stirring critics, they should try stepping into the arena...for once..but, they won't.

Not unless your situation in terms of the gauntlet you have to go through to make it past the first round is much worse, and I don’t know many, if any that are. Mason County and all that it is, was done zero favors for the next 24 months of football.

In most cycles it’s a good job, but tough sledding the next two years with their district and region due to the bump in 4A. Having to go through the shark infested waters of CovCath & Highlands in your district, and then knowing Ashland and Johnson Central are your crossover? Doesn’t make this job very appealing as it would otherwise be, especially for any current head coaches.

Always have, always will. When you take speed/talent in the abundance that PT has on the regular + how well coached they are from top to bottom? The last four season's are the result. From an outsider looking in, and I'm sure I speak for many others? The results of the last few years is of no surprise. The fact that hasn't been the norm (ie: Mayfield, Beechwood, Bowling Green, Danville..until recent years, Highlands, Pikeville, etc), however.....is.

I'd say if it weren't for Homestead Senior HS being open + South Broward in Hollywood, FL then the Red Devils might have a shot.

In all seriousness, I think the making the pants look like shorts “fad” has come from how practice is nowadays and what’s worn. You see it in the NFL, college and even high school where they’ve now made these girdle length type pants…worn as shorts. They are 5 pad (butt, hips and thighs) that are worn out at practice more days than not.

Many of them won’t have a single pad in their pants.

Oh it’s a rule. But it’s become one of those almost “looking for stuff” when it comes to the knee pads. I’ve never seen a kid try to come out and play like the picture above, but I’ve seen kids sent out of games or pulled to the side during warm ups for mere centimeters of the “knee not being covered”.

They aren’t lying. It’s comical how tore up refs get over the knee pad thing The irony in all of it? In terms of equipment “protection” as it applies to parts of the body? Head= $400-$1,000 for a helmet Shoulder Pads= $200-$500 Knees= $2.00 foam pads not much bigger than silver dollar in diameter and those “better be covering the knee!!”

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. Overrated college coaches as so many are, and yes, even Sark. Ball on the 1 yard line, if that, and not only to they go Gun, but instead of side car RB alignment, to make it worse? They go pistol & then Bleu takes two false steps. That’s all on the coach(es).

For now, anyway. They'll have to (or somebody will) pay Chase, too. ? When is his contract up?

And, when you have a Bermuda surface as 1st class as Glasgow’s…there is no need for turf IMO.

The boys in Scarlett are giving UT a dose of their own medicine offensively…dressing up Power and Counter (both GT and GH) then blowing the top off in taking vertical shots. Ryan Day said he just wanted them to be the most physical team, and that’s what they are doing.

The only head coach in the state that I know who does this, is Coach Dick at Lou. Holy Cross. He teaches in JCPS at Moore, and is the HFC at Holy Cross. He runs a good program over on Dixie Highway…not to mention it’s a smart move on his part financially now + retirement wise. It’s nothing out of the norm, though to see assistant coaches do this. It’s not something you see in the masses, but not a rarity either.

I am by no means trying to sound condescending, It’s been that way more than not for a long time. Often we see the college coaching carousel landscape where life changing money and millions of dollars are involved & think that transpires down to this level. Heck, it even pays (literally and figuratively) in other states like GA, TX, AL…but, for Kentucky HS Football and most other states? It just doesn’t make a lot of sense to pack your family up, and move ….especially, ESPECIALLY if you’re already at a program, like Owensboro (or better), that is already competing for region title births and beyond year in - year out. I made a post about this on the 1st or 2nd page of the thread in regards to coaches playing hop scotch (or the lack thereof) from state title winning programs (present school) to another. If you do see it? 1) They usually don’t have to physically move houses/family and 2) their kids usually have either not started school yet OR they have become empty nesters, and the kids are graduated and gone.

No doubt about all of that, however (and, this is one of those stats where it is in absolutely NO WAY, SHAPE or FORM reflective of coaching because as I've said and it's been stated by many, Coach Mo is IT)...Meade County the last 10 seasons is 17-49 vs 6A opponents.

He has a great administrative job in Oldham County, at East Oldham Middle School. I would say leaving that and all that is (the job itself + financially) would make returning to the sidelines a hard, hard sale.
