Another example of my most previous post. 1-Beechwood's new coach? He won 2 games the prior 2 or 3 years at a bottom feeder in Ohio. Beechwood's admin probably knew he was at a dumpster fire, yet they also knew he could coach (came from a very solid pedigree also) & that he had the IT for what would mesh with Beechwood & vice versa. 2- Beechwood didn't have any coaches with state titles on their belt from previous stops. Why would those guys leave if they were already competing for and winning them at their current place (unless it was going from private to public and potentially making more money, getting back into KTRS). If you see current head coaches, in good situations (by good, I mean, they didn't have just a couple solid years, but that the place is set up for success....ie: Owensboro) leave for another truly good job? You can almost always connect it to one/or a mix of the few reasons: A- They don't have to move due to lack of distance (ex: taking jobs within Jefferson County, Fayette County, NKY, etc) B- The coach and/or their spouse is from said school/location. C- Not married and/or no kids in school D- Coach & spouse have kids and are empty nesters. E- Coach & spouse are empty nesters, but are moving to get closer to grown kid(s). F- Coach (and/or spouse) retired full pension KTRS, go private and can truly double dip (or, coach leaves KTRS for private, and goes back to KTRS due to retirement reasons just being better- if staying in education)

That's what I mean......that he would do just fine at Owensboro based off the fact that he was able to win any at all at Ohio County. Owensboro is a great job, but here is the thing..... (most) coaches at already good/great jobs? (Seldomly) Don't leave for others of the same, especially if it requires a move of uprooting their family. If there was life changing, put you in a different tax bracket type money? Then that's a different story. In Alabama you see it. In Texas you see it. In Georgia you see it. Not here.

I believe that pool is just as bad as the HC stipend. Maybe 10-12K total for assistant pay.

Here is the facts about KYHSFB. IMVHO, there are a lot more good coaches than there are programs. ...know what? Scratch that. The number of bad programs is the vast majority. I have absolutely zero dog in this fight, and the coach you're referring to on staff very well may be the choice and the best fit? If so? Go kill it. In reference to Ganaway being 12-32 & to help prove my aforementioned statement above? Jackson Arnett is or was heavily in the mix with the Glasgow job (AS HE SHOULD BE). The last few years? He's been an assistant at Boyle. However, ON PAPER and to the NAKED EYE, his W/L record of previous head coaching experience is very similar to Ganaway (while at Ohio). Arnett went 12-27 at Barren, highlighted (and this is what people should pay attention to more with all coaches at less than ideal programs) by a 6 win season, which was the first one in over 15 years at Barren. Some other examples, and I've alluded to these before, however: Kevin Wallace- he was in and around 20 games BELOW .500 at Warren East back in the 80's and early 90's before going back to BG as an assistant for a year and then taking over the head job. The rest is history. Chris McNamee- Pikeville. Back in the mid/late 2000's? He was the HC at Pike County Central where he had 4 straight seasons of 4-7. Four....straight. Jason Morris- his last year at McLean County he went 0-10 (which is even more impressive about Zach Wagner & what he's been able to do. Both men? Very good coaches) I could go on with a slew of other examples, but you get the point. It's not the coach a lot more times than not at most of these programs, it's the program. It's all about fit with these jobs more times than not. For the school and the coach.

Ummmmm....they had 5,276 yards of total offense this year that averaged 40.1 ppg. Passing 2,218 yards and 23 TD's (12 INT's) 167/251 158.4/game for an average of 8.8 yards per attempt and 13.2 yards per completion. Rushing 3,058 yards on, 53 TD's & 218.4/game 368 total attempts for an average 8.3/carry. They averaged 8.5 yards every snap this year (run or pass) & that takes into consideration the 84 incompletions that resulted in no yards or INT's. Tough crowd if true.

If it's internal, it could be the next day or even the day of. Open hire? I don't know the exact days, but it's not 30. The 30 days thing is often used because the coaching job is often tied to a teaching job (certified position), which in that case is a 30 day window for hires outside the district. Even then, if a new coach is coming into the district to also take a teaching job as well? They can do the 30 day dog and pony show window when that posting comes along.

Ahh, we can't talk about the ones having success in anything "3 back life", especially if it's heights they've never reached before in doing so in the program. Just like we can't ever speak of the countless ones out there getting their brains bashed in more than not being all 'Fun 'n' Gun' throwing it around the yard (or should I say "attempting" to do so? Maybe shot putting it is a better description?). Oh! If they are doing this, and with "tempo"? You bite your tongue. I don't care if they only scoring around 10 ppg & throw an interception for every TD! They're "exciting" to watch! We have to only negatively magnify those using some old school approaches, regardless if they've been successful in doing so before! Egos can be dangerous. I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say I'm sure our own ego(s) have gotten us in trouble before. Even more dangerous? School offical(s) decisions being influenced by the egos of people that don't know, what they don't know. I totally agree with you that several other schools across the state should do this. Because the only thing being "competed for" in many, many cases is: 1- You're not making the playoffs as if you're in a 5 or 6 team district. 2- If you do make it as the 4, or sometimes even the 3? Be it in a 4, 5 or 6 team? You're "playing" one more week just to get boat raced, again. This idea that "everybody has a chance" is absolute fairytale land. As I heard a very, very wise former coach once say applying the current set up in KYHSFB to the college games? "There are a lot of mid ranged G5 programs in district and regions trying to compete against the whose who of the G4. Except those match ups when they do happen? The G5 is getting millions of dollars to get blasted."

Relatively speaking, there is "big boy" football in almost every class, every region & every district. Mayfield, Beechwood, Owensboro Catholic, LCA, etc are "Godzilla" to the vast majority in 2A. CAL and Central are in 3A. Boyle, Corbin, CovCath, Tilghman, Johnson Central, Ashland, etc and now throw Highlands back into the mix are "Godzilla" to everybody else in 4A. You get the idea.

Always. Look out for #1, you and yours, and it doesn't have to be justified to anybody else. Admin do it, those that just teach do, everybody in every profession does it- there just aren't message boards or social media talking about it bringing your business to the light.

Single letter almost always is a classic (ie: Corbin's oval C? Recognized all over the bluegrass. Highlands block H? Another one known Pikeville to Paducah (and, all points North haha). CovCath's new logo? I can't love it enough) Completely blank? Unless you're Mayfield, Bowling Green, Somerset (although, Somerset hasn't always had that..from the 70's-Mid 90's they had the 'Green Bay' gold helmet color, purple mask with a two color three stripe-purple, white, purple) & sure as rain that I'm leaving off another obvious or two? But if you aren't one of them? Dress the thing up, somehow someway. Teams with the "winged"? McLean County is about to wreck the "0" party!! ? Using a logo of an existing college team/sports team, etc? I'm all for it IF your school is the same color as them, b/c then you can just load your closet with as much stuff as possible outside of what's sold at school/local sporting goods stores, etc. If your school color's are different than the existing college, pro team, etc? Use it, but with your own little twist to it...or take two and combine them to one (ex: Adair County, with their Atlanta Braves type font stems + the mini FSU spear going across it to make their own 'A'.
