  1. Catch onto what? There are a ton of gaps to defend run game along w schemes- be them ‘man’, ‘gap’, ‘zone’. I’m not the one questioning or recommending the play calling- your are, so I’m asking? There are always vague-across the board answers, but I just like getting to the nitty gritty. What was BG lining up in defensively? I just like to hear the “expertise” on here is all.
  2. And that means what? What were those different types of runs?
  3. How did CH open the play book up given the fact that how they operate either from under center or gun is practically all wing t based? I’d love to hear a detailed description of that from a schematics X and O’s point of view. What route combinations against coverages would you like to see BG throw more against? What was there coverage wise that they didn’t take advantage of?
  4. I wouldn't much worry about it either way. Many of the scrimmages going on this weekend are going to be "practice like". Even when they are going 10/10 or Down and Distance you are going to be seeing quick whistles and an emphasis on not going to the ground. These things and even next week mean absolutely nothing, but especially this week. Is it just me or am I the only one that thinks the fact that we are scrimmaging on August 3rd & 4th is the most asinine thing ever? I'm not sure what is worse; that or the fact that we are in our 4th week of practice and it's just (literally) August 3rd- not 30th, but 3rd!!
  5. The "Colonel"!! Good stuff right there and you don't have to break the bank. I haven't had any of the others, though.
  6. Montgomery County since Egli took over has followed suit. He coached under McKee.
  7. I’m thinking the same thing. If they are hoping to keep the AD and head job together then they need to come up with some cash to garner any real interest. I’m sure both of those things would be frowned upon and not just there, but it would be in most areas in our state. However in Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Etc those two jobs with some great pay are often tied together.
  8. Some of you realize that even the FBS and FCS schools have sent their young men home for 3-4 weeks, correct?! As in. Get the hell away from here. Your NAIA, D2 and D3 schools still have most of their players off campus all summer as well until fall camp. Somewhere along the lines, like a lot of things, high school has gotten things just a tad bit twisted. A race arms of trying to keep up w the Jones’ (heavy emphasis on the word “try”). Monkey see. Monkey do. Well they are doing it, so I better also or it won’t look good.
  9. I don’t know. I think you’d see a lot of people get into Thanksgiving Day-weekend games regardless of if you’re playing for it all or not. Fact is most of the teams in the playoffs are playing those type of games anyway. We like to think everybody has a shot, but who are we kidding? They don’t. 90% of the teams come start of the playoffs don’t have a chance. Was there a state champion last year that wasn’t a 1 seed in their district? Even a state runner up? I dare say the majority of Region and semi finalists were district champs, especially the semi finalists.
  10. You could play a 10 game schedule, start Labor Day weekend, still have an Open week (if you choose, or play 11 games. Your choice), finish the regular season the 2nd Friday in November, only take the district champ to the playoffs from each district and still be finished by the 1st weekend in December like it is now and has been for years. Don't make the playoffs? That's cool, so what, better luck next year, but in the mean time? Take a week off (current region title week) and find somebody to play a Thanksgiving Day game with somebody nearby which there will likely be many out there to choose from since only one team is going to playoffs from each district, split the gate and call it good. So at worst everybody is still getting 11-12 games, like most get as is, and it once again becomes a fall sport with a little something extra added to winning your district along with bringing a little bit of the throwback tradition of Thanksgiving weekend games regardless if you're still in the running for a state title or not.
  11. Sadly you're right and that blows my mind. There is a whole hell of a lot more to life out there.
  12. Absolutely nothing wrong with Dead Period. The small college levels and even the D1 schools send their kids home for periods of time over the summer. Dead Period needs to happen. Start practice August 1. Season starts Labor Day weekend or the weekend after. Play 10/11 regular season games. Take one or at the most only two teams to the playoffs (how many true contenders are at the worst below the 2 seed in their district? Most are the district champ) The mid atlantic and northeast states still play Thanksviging Day/weekend games even for those that don't make the playoffs. It's a fall sport not a summer sport. While I'm at it...middle school football needs to be backed up. These kids scrimmaging in July and starting their seasons the first week of August is the craziest crap I've ever heard. This once upon a time was a fall sport. It's better that way. As for vacations. I've never understood going to the beach while it's summer in Kentucky. It's 95 here and plenty of water around (lakes, your pool, a friends pool, etc). Why drive 10-12 hours to have the heat somewhere else when you have it here & while it's more expensive? Go hot when it's not here. Fall Break. Christmas Break. Spring Break. More and more are starting to take fall break as their open week and families from players to coaches are taking their vacations then. Dead period needs to stay. I think it's fine the way it is. Hobbies and not being in ball mode all the time is a healthy thing. It's almost as dumb as seeing that hashtag bull of #nodays off. What? Are you serious? That's the most irresponsible, look at me I'm a social media bad man crap there is. Absolutely nobody suggests doing that.
  13. Doesn't get any easier than what they've been battling that is for sure. I'm kind of surprised they didn't try to stay in 5A to be honest. Corbin, Knox Central, Wayne County and Russell County. Russell County has been down in recent years, but they will bounce back. It's going to be a fight every year to just get a 4th seed.
  14. On the small college surface, Centre with two of the biggest gets in the state with this young man and Elizabethtown's Jay Becherer.
  15. Bonding money that has built up over the years in districts is also completely separate. That won’t be touched.
  16. So what exactly happened then? Did he resign and was asked to re-apply due to their lack of interest in those who have came after it thus far?
  17. I second Orange Beach. We went for the first time back in October, and we are hooked. My wife had been before, but I nor our girls had. As far as food; both Flor-a-Bama joints across from the main place are top shelf. Doc’s Seafood in town a bit is solid, but you risk waiting a long time just about any night you go. Shrimp Basket is pretty good, too. Flor-a-Bama yacht club is my top choice. We could have eaten there every night (don’t be fooled by the “yacht”; it’s not upscale- which we prefer). It’s not rowdy either. A great family atmosphere on the bay. “Sittin’ here at the Flor-a-bama....”
  18. It also doesn’t apply if hiring within and that person has a teaching job in the district.
  19. Agree to an extent. It’s not a good common.
  20. It’s as common as the day is long from Pikeville to Paducah.
