  1. Nice win for the Cougars...know some alumni that must be ecstatic!
  2. Beechwood rebounds after getting blown out last week, and beats the number 5 ranked team in 4A, and the response is to tear down the QB?! The kid threw for over 200 yards and made quite a few big throws on 3rd down to extend drives. SMH
  3. Craig Yeast graduated in 95. For my money, the best player Beechwood has ever beaten, was Carlos Snow, from C.A.P.E. High School in Cincinnati. Snow went on to star at Ohio St. That C.A.P.E. team also had Vinnie Clark and David Pool who both played in the NFL.
  4. Until Williamsburg learns to play defense, I can’t see them being ahead of NCC.
  5. Cooper had a bunch of players not even dressed for that scrimmage with Scott. Highlands will name the score in this one. I can’t see Scott getting more than 1 TD against the Highlands starters.
  6. They played in the finals in 2002 as well. Mayfield scored late in the 4th quarter to win 14-7.
  7. I think you have it right for the quarterfinals but from my interpretation, the semifinals will be highest remaining seed vs lowest remaining seed and second highest vs third highest, regardless of east or west.
  8. Considering they lost to Ludlow in the districts last year, no they cannot win a regional game. There is very little commitment to basketball because soccer and volleyball take priority, whether it’s for the school or club/travel teams.
  9. I can’t believe you went to almost every game and missed out on a championship game!
  10. Hard to believe you missed the district championship game.
  11. If the region and KHSAA keep allowing Frederick harassing players on the court, then I guess Cov Cath will be the favorites. Every other teams coaches handle themselves in an orderly fashion and do not say obscenities to adolescents.
  12. Congrats to Steve Brown! He’ll be a good fit. Watched what he did at St. Henry and he did the best possible job anyone can do at that school.
  13. Logan's offensive stats are off the charts, but he plays a great Centerfield, not Shortstop.
  14. 2006 was definitely a better overall team than 2004. I am just stating that Beechwood has had multiple really good teams. 2006 had 2 very good starters in Curley and Chas Moore, and a deep lineup. I think people forget how good Chris Curley was. He was a complete player. Very good hitter, super smooth infielder, and a true Ace on the mound. This years team is very good, but they still have work to be done. I'm rooting like heck for them to make a deep post season run. If they do that, then they will be in the conversation for best Beechwood team ever.
  15. The 2004 team won the 9th region and the sectional. They lost in the Final 8 against Trinity. An interesting tidbit from that game, is that Beechwood was leading either 3-1 or 4-1 in the 6th inning. Chris Curley was pitching and he was blowing through Trinity's lineup. The rain came rolling in and the game was delayed until the next day. Curley was not allowed to pitch the next day, and Trinity came back and won the game in extra innings. If the rain never happened, then Beechwood wins that game. Curley was dominant that night, and was in complete control.
  16. Pitchers duel between Beechwood Freshman Brett Holladay and CovCath Senior Evan Stallman. Both pitchers pitched their tails off and Beechwood came out on top after a RBI groundout by Dylan Doverspike in the 4th. Expect to see these teams play again in a couple weeks for a district championship. By the way, it’s been a while since I’ve been to a game at CovCath but I have to ask, when did the field get in such bad shape? It used to be one of the top fields in the area.
  17. Tigers came out swinging tonight as they looked to avenge their only loss at GABP last Friday night. The atmosphere felt like a Regional game with a very big crowd at Beechwood High. Carter Noah started for Beechwood and Grimme started for Highlands. Noah struggled at times but the bats of the Tigers had his back. John Odom went 1-2 with two walks and a single. Logan Castleman was 2-4 with HR #7 (grand slam), a 2B and 7 RBI. Senior Ayden shutting was 1-2 with a 2B and an RBI. Senior Devin Johnson was also 2-3 with his 3rd HR and 2 RBI. Both Dylan’s Doverspike and Alex Harper went 2-2 w/ RBI’s.
  18. He started out the year as the starting SS, then moved to LF for the remainder of his freshman season. He may have also played a little 2nd Base.
  19. This is the 5th total and 3rd for Castleman. 06, 14, 16, 18, 19
  20. All A Quarterfinals Beechwood - 15 Williamsburg - 3 WP - Ayden Hutton (4-0) Doverspike - 4-4 w/ a 2B Castleman - 3-3 w/ 5 RBI Johnson 2-4 w/ an RBI Odom 2-3 w/ a 3B Hutton 2-3 HR(1), 2B & 5 RBI Tigers take on Lyon County tomorrow morning at 8:30am Twitter Hutton pitched for Beechwood. Stats are listed on this twitter link.
  21. Beechwood has already played quite a few guys that never get much varsity action and it's only the 4th inning. Coach Gray is emptying the bench, so I think we got our answer to how Beechwood would treat this game.
