Mayfield made the leap from 1A to 2A in 2015 leaving the Beechwood Tigers behind. Now after another 4 year alignment has passed the Beechwood Tigers have made the jump to 2A for the first time ever. These two teams have only played once for the Title and that was in 1995 with Mayfield edging Beechwood 28-27. If not these teams who has a chance to ruin the dream matchup in 2A?

Basically the first 3 rounds will stay teams from the east/west side. Round 4 there will be no east/west. 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3. The two highest will host.

They played in the finals in 2002 as well. Mayfield scored late in the 4th quarter to win 14-7.

I agree. Mayfield will be there. No one in 2A is beating them this year. Beechwood is too much of an unknown at this point. I am sure they will be good. It is Beechwood. The question is will they be state finals good. They will need to get to the final four and not be the four seed to have a chance to play Mayfield in the title game.

Beechwood has a lot of holes to fill, probably the most of any team in any division. I just don't see them making the title game this year, but I hope I'm wrong.
