Well yes, it can. Just last year St. Henry lost in the district semifinals and didn’t make regionals. Cru’s top player is a freshman. Bessler is also a highly rated freshman, along with Kaiser. Apparently the freshman and JV teams did well this season, so a bright future lies for St. Henry!

Missing out last year wasn’t fun, so I totally agree that it’s a big win for the team. Getting these kids even a game at regionals will help them develop. Last freshmen for St. Henry to get time at regionals were the Berlings in 2015.

Vieth and Westerbeck put up 21 points each and the Crusaders earn a spot in the district finals. They’ll also return to regionals.

Really excited for the St. Henry vs. Lloyd game in the 34th District. Was close last year and this year the regular season game was close.

I played in a scrimmage in grade school that was at their home field! They also played there on senior day last year, which was the first time they had a true home game.

It's amazing to sit back and realize that he'd be playing at an NAIA (I think) school if his shot against Campbell County doesn't go in. A lot of people in NKY knew he was good, but it was a matter of everybody else seeing the hype.

Yep. I've watched a few videos of him and he definitely isn't afraid to chirp. But the coach should've just let his players do the talking. Thanks for the added info, though!

According to a YouTube video that had highlights of this game, Fern Creek’s coach said to McClung while he was at he free throw line “You’re going to Georgetown to sit”. If that’s true, that’s terrible.

Ugggggh. As said on the St. Henry broadcast, that’s a gut punch for the Cru.

I haven't been able to watch them this year, but St. X hasn't won a GCL game since 2012. Elder might at least have those 2 games. Other than that, you're right in that GCL will be similar to football. Moeller and LaSalle will battle it out.

Never expected it to be close. But St. Henry's freshmen/JV teams seem to be competitive, so I'm thinking in a few years when our young talent gets better, the games will be a lot closer. Also doesn't help that we have no answer to Walter.

Thank you! I had the mindset that if he can't do it against the big boys, he shouldn't get the hype. Plus... it wasn't as if he played okay. They got demolished. But yes, you can't judge a sophomore going against that defense. I wish I could've gotten to watch him this year.
