Prior to last year 1993 was the last time that Augusta's girls were in the region tournament.

I think 2 of the 4 have a chance in Hammonds and Biggs. Not easy but have a shot. Salsman has to contend with Scott County of course and Messer has to battle Warren Central. Not impossible but REALLY difficult.

Four former 10th Region coaches captured District championships Friday night. Coach - Present School (10th Region School) Todd Messer - Clinton County (Fleming County) Brandon Salsman - Lexington Catholic (Bourbon County) Robert Hammonds - West Jessamine (Bracken County) Buddy Biggs - Ashland Blazer (Pendleton County) And although he is several years removed from the 10th, Willie Feldhaus lead his Lakers to a runner-up finish against Clinton County in the 16th district. 3 of the 4 are in their first year at their respective schools. Pretty impressive imo. I think the coaches in the 10th are some of the best in the state.

This will be the third time since 1937 that Augusta and Deming both have been in the 10th Region tournament. 1977 was the first time that it happened and 2006 was the second.

A good official should not call anything different at tournament time than any other time of the year, nor should a call not be made at the end of a game, just because it is the end of the game. Mofford was called for a foul earlier on a clean block, but he made contact with Owens on the last one. And how bad was the charge on Owens when he split the double team in the first half? Officiating 100% did not determine the outcome of this game. Players did. Saint Patrick got too impatient on offense and relied too much on the 3 (which was not falling) instead of attacking the basket.

The two teams were not involved and this is a matter that can not be discussed here. See rule 9.

Hope that Calvert is ok from Lewis County. He took a VERY hard fall with 36.4 left to play and had to be taken to the hospital. He was fouled while going in for a lay up with the younger players in the game.

That could be a luxury or a curse. Wonder how many junk defenses Pelle has seen this year? Belcher is a nice player and I know that his being recruited to play college ball. Someone is going to get a steal with Pelle too.

He played really well against Bracken County on Friday. He hit a couple of big shots and is finally starting to look for some shots.

Hey don't get me wrong. I hope that Augusta stays open forever. Nothing like the small school education as far as I am concerned. But I have learned to never say never.

Per the KHSAA rule book: 4) No member school shall play more than twenty-three (23) basketball games during the regular season. A maximum of two (2) tournaments may be included in any manner other than counting each game played against the limit of twenty-three (23) games. Any two tournaments played during the regular season may be counted as one game per tournament against the limit of twenty-three (23) provided that neither tournament necessitates the team playing more than four (4) games. Any game played over the limit of four in any one tournament shall be counted against the limit of twentythree (23) games

Dumphord was too much to handle as he had 26 pts. Saint Patrick was very flat tonight. Owens had a steady 26 and Anderson chipped in with 19. Freshman Stephen Mason gave some good minutes off the bench. But overall it was a subpar performance by the Saints.

I agree 100% with all three. Especially Coach Brooks. I like his no nonsense approach to coaching. He tells you how it is and if you don't like it, sorry about your luck. And how can you not like a guy like Coach High. He just goes out and wins games. Enough said.

I always said the same thing about Maysville and Mason County and we know how that turned out.
